★★★WELCOME TO BEAUTIFUL KAZERA!★★★

KAZAK is an RPG inspired by the 90s, with battles inspired by the Mario & Luigi RPG series.  There are no random encounters, with enemies being visible on the map and you can interact with them to gain an advantage in battle.  There are 3 playable characters, each with unique strengths and weaknesses.  Equip up to 4 skills per character to use in battle.  Each skill has advantages and disadvantages such as raising or lowing stats, and enemies have weaknesses themselves that can be exploited.  There is no MP!  Battle revolves around the mana gauge, inspired by the fighting game genre.  Attack or successfully avoid attacks to build meter and defeat your foes with super moves, while keeping their mana meters down or else you'll be vulnerable to a foe's super move.


The game has an unorthodox structure for RPGs, with a level select, allowing players to choose their own path through 15 stages, leading up to the final confrontation that will be altered depending on the route taken.  New Game Plus will allow for almost everything acquired during the previous playthrough to be brought over for another go at a different route and ending.  Completing certain levels can also have effects on later levels on a path.



★★★HOW TO PLAY★★★

In battle, each character has a unique button assigned to them, called the action button.  This button is essential to survival!  When an enemy goes in for an attack, you can DODGE with the action button!


If you aren't smart about your reactions and timing, you'll take a hit and can be afflicted with nasty status effects!


Some enemy attacks require you to deflect them, which often times does damage to the attacker!

Deflecting will leave you vulnerable for a few seconds afterwards though, so make sure you don't miss!

There can be other unorthodox situations where you need to hit the action button, so stay alert!

This game is playable on keyboard, but a controller is recommended!

Keyboard/Gamepad (Xbox button layout listed) Controls: 

ARROW KEYS - move/navigate menus/Arrow Minigames in battles

ENTER/A - Select/Grab/Talk to follower/Mash Battle QTE/Maylee Jump or Defend

SHIFT/X - Dash/Yuuzal Jump or Defend

A/Y - Ruby Jump or Defend/Open Menu (Controller Only)

C/LB - Jump (Map)

SPACE/RB  - Shoot (Map)

START - Open menu on Map

TAB/SELECT - Swap follower

X/B - Exit menu/Open Menu on Map

In battle, LB/PageUp: Omni Jump (all characters will jump at once, if they aren’r already)

In battle, RB/PageDown: Emergency Block (All characters will guard but cannot jump or deflect against that enemy skill for the rest of the turn)

In battle, party members can be controlled with several different keys, but A,S,D is recommended.

  • Actors should no longer jump or swing during win animations
  • Fixed bug with 2Pack that would add the crush property to every skill, causing Neklaws to react like they were weakened every time
  • Removed a few enemies that had dickish placements in Airship
  • Added new antepiece to teach jumping over obstacles in Airship

KNOWN BUG(S) THAT ARE ALREADY FIXED FOR NEXT PATCH: 

  • Amanita’s poison mist attack causes other enemies to become invisible.  
  • Neklaw's dying via having their grab attack countered, causes them to become a permanent statue on the battlefield.
  • Pinbird's do not properly apply the flight state after being hit while lodged in the ground due to a quirk with the "remove by damage" box being unreliable.

I was told turn based games can’t let you do dodges or parry on your wait turn said a HSR player after I complained on a sponsored stream about it being boring but clair obscur expedition 33 had come out and then this game.

That's impressive you managed to get the 2.0 version lol, it was up for like two seconds

I seem to have this luck when devs put up a game it’s always the pervious version seconds or days after I had already posted the video and I’ve done myself recently too. Only cause I forgot the update the fixes but with your game, wasn’t much problems just excitement.

Everything about this game is so cool. The characters (Maylee #1!!), the art, the music, the combat, the UI; it's all so good. I didn't get far enough to experience much of the story but you already reveal so much about the characters with their dialogue, abilities and end screen quips. I wish you all the best with the rest of development, keep going because this game is fantastic!

No stress! Games have bugs and you only just put out an update. These things happen. The presentation of your game pushed me to get it working because it's that good!

For anyone looking at this game or thinking about checking it out: do it!

It is a very fun and delightful little demo, that definitely has the 90s charm it is going for. There is some polishing left to be done, but it certainly kept me playing and playing.
