After cross-checking old maps, campus archaeologists determined that a hard, impenetrable surface under the ground was the foundation of the first observatory on MSU’s campus, constructed in 1881.

Food prices rose at a slower rate in June.: David Ortega, a food economist at MSU, said he expected the recent slowdown in food inflation to continue in the next few months. Shoppers are starting to notice that certain products have become cheaper or are not swelling in price as much as they were in previous months, he said.
How a UPS strike could disrupt deliveries and roil the package delivery business: Jason Miller, professor of supply chain management at MSU, said a strike at UPS would have been far more catastrophic for industries in 2021, when parcel carriers had no extra capacity due to a pandemic-era spike in demand.
Are artificial sweeteners safe? It's a bit complicated.: "'Genotoxic' means that a substance can potentially damage your DNA," Jamie Alan, an associate professor of pharmacology and toxicology at MSU, tells Yahoo Life. "Keep in mind that we are always receiving DNA insults from the environment. It's the cumulative effect that is concerning."

MSU used an inclusive and comprehensive strategic planning process to create a shared vision for the future and a common set of principles and values to guide our work.
To recognize the importance of diversity, equity and inclusion as a foundation for university, MSU is using a comprehensive DEI planning process focusing on those values and working in collaboration with the overall strategic planning process.
The RVSM Strategic Plan stems from work by leading researchers and experts in the field to develop a plan for survivor services, prevention efforts, and climate and culture change initiatives.
