Great Cities The U.S. Department of State is the lead U.S. foreign affairs agency and is responsible for implementing the President's foreign policies. The U.S. has diplomatic relations with more than 170 countries and maintains about 260 embassies, consulates, and missions around the world. DOSFAN is a Great Cities cooperative initiative with the University of Illinois at Chicago University Library.
