Super Happy Magic Forest (Western Animation)
Five brave heroes. One epic quest.note
"In the Super Happy Magic Forest, five brave heroes set out on epic quests, pausing only for picnics, and bringing back THE FROLIC!"
Super Happy Magic Forest is a British-French-German-Italian fantasy adventure animated series based on a series of books of the same name by Matty Long, produced by Tiger Aspect Productions (of Mr. Bean fame), Movementi Production and Monello Productions for The BBC. Phineas and Ferb co-creator Jeff "Swampy" Marsh serves as an executive producer on the series.

The series takes place in the titular forest, which is home to many magical creatures such as fairies, pixies, gnomes and many more. The show follows the adventures of a group of five misfit heroes: Hoofius (Julian Barratt), a brave, adventurous faun who enjoys epic quests and playing the panpipes; Blossom (Judi Love), a cheerful, hyperactive unicorn who enjoys eating ice cream and frolics, Herbert (Greg McHugh), a wise gnome and genius inventor, Twinkle (Jules de Jongh), a reckless teenage fairy, and Trevor (Spencer Jones), a neurotic talking toadstool. These five heroes are brought together by a love of quests, picnics, and frolics. Together, the heroes embark on daring, exciting and noble quests in, around and beyond the Super Happy Magic Forest, encountering some unusual surprises and exploring strange new worlds along the way.

The show premiered in the United Kingdom on CBBC on October 7, 2024, running for 52 episodes over a single season. The remaining 26 episodes were released in the UK on the BBC iPlayer on April 21, 2025. The entire series can be caught on the BBC iPlayer here (UK only). If you're outside the UK, you can catch clips of the show on YouTube here.

Has Recap and Character pages in need of some work.

Super Happy Magic Forest contains examples of:

  • Adaptation Name Change: Mr. Friendlyface was originally called "Tiddlywink" in the books.
  • Air Guitar: Twinkle often does this on her wand.
  • Attack of the 50-Foot Whatever: Grackle the giant.
    • In the episode "Magic Mess", Trevor turns into a giant mushroom.
  • Brain Freeze: Blossom gets brain freeze from licking a giant ice cream in "Herbert's New Hat".
  • Bungling Inventor: Herbert. In one episode, he invents a "bird table hat" (which is really just Herbert's hat, only with birdseed inside) and a "cooling hat" (which circulates air to cool your head).
    • Among his other inventions, he has also invented the "jelly catapults" and the "crow-bot"
  • Christmas Episode: "Snow Day".
  • Dance Party Ending: Every episode ends with the five main characters "frolicking", or in other words, dancing.
    • Even the end credits show the characters dancing to the theme song.
  • Deliberately Monochrome: In "Colour Catastrophe", everything in the Super Happy Magic Forest turns grey. Near the end of the episode, Hoofius, Herbert, Trevor, Blossom and Twinkle all turn grey.
  • Employee of the Month: Parodied in one episode as "Quester of the Year".
  • Evil Smells Bad: The Swampclops from the episode "Super Happy Bake-Off". He does live in a swamp, so you get the picture.
    • Stinkweasel can count as well.
  • Explain, Explain... Oh, Crap!: Happens in "Faking It" when the heroes realise that Admin Bunny and Sunshine were tricking them into thinking they're on a quest to find the wooly blue stomper.
    • Happens again later on in said episode when the heroes realise it was actually Mr. Friendlyface who invented the wooly blue stomper.
  • Expository Theme Tune: The only words said in the theme song are "questing" and "frolicking". Because that's what they do best: going on quests and frolicking about.
  • Expy: Trevor the mushroom is basically Toad from Mario, only without a body.
    • Mr. Friendlyface is an elf version of Squidward.
  • Extremely Short Intro Sequence: The intro lasts only 20 seconds long, with the Opening Narration followed by the line "Questing, frolicking, questing, frolicking" being sung about 4 times in a row.
  • Fanfare: "Bah, buh-buh bah buh-buh BAAAAH! The Council of Happiness summons you to a quest!"
  • Fauns and Satyrs: Hoofius is a faun.
  • Feeling Their Age: In "Mid-Quest Crisis", Herbert is worried about getting older. After drinking the water from the Fountain of Youth, he turns into a teenager and starts to feel younger.
  • Gasshole: In "Goblin Guest", the Goblin King says he likes to break wind at the weekend.
  • Growing Up Sucks: In "Mid-Quest Crisis", Herbert is afraid of getting older, so he decides to drink the water from the Fountain of Youth to make himself young again.
  • Halloween Episode: "The Spookyween Witch".
  • Helium Speech: Hoofius, Blossom, Twinkle, Herbert and Trevor all gain high-pitched voices in "New Broom".
  • I Ate WHAT?!: In "Colour Catastrophe", Blossom eats a grey blueberry, not realizing it tastes terrible.
    Blossom: UGH! It tastes HORRIBLE!
  • Meaningful Name: Hoofius. So appropriately named, since he is a faun.
    • Stinkweasel. So appropriately named due to his obsession with a substance called "stinkystuff" and "sticky stinks".
  • Monochrome to Color: The entire Super Happy Magic Forest gets its colours back at the end of "Colour Catastrophe".
  • Merlin Sickness: Exactly what happens to Herbert after he drinks from the Fountain of Youth in "Mid-Quest Crisis".
  • Mushroom Man: Trevor.
  • NO INDOOR VOICE: Mr. Friendlyface often speaks like this, which makes senses since he's always grumpy.
  • Opening Narration: The theme song begins with a narration mentioning the five main characters embarking on quests, pausing for picnics, and bringing back the frolic. Guess what happens next.
    • "QUESTING, FROLICKING, QUESTING, FROLICKING!"
  • Our Gnomes Are Weirder: Herbert.
  • Our Elves Are Different: Mr. Friendlyface, a grumpy elf who doesn't appear to have a friendly face.
    • Not to mention the Wood Elves from the episode "Elf Help".
  • Our Fairies Are Different: Twinkle. Unlike most fairies, she doesn't use her wand to do magic; instead, she often uses her wand as an everyday tool/prop.
  • Plant Person: Trevor, a talking toadstool.
  • Pointy Ears: All the elves and fairies that live in the Super Happy Magic Forest have long, pointed ears. Especially Twinkle and Mr. Friendlyface.
    • All the goblins, including the Goblin King, have pointy ears as well.
  • Sarcasm Mode: Trevor is very good at this trope, often giving sarcastic remarks from time to time.
  • Shaking the Rump: Blossom does this in "Trapped in the Frolic" by shaking her rump - and her tail - to brush off a dusty old mirror.
    • Later, she dusts off a crystal by - you guessed it - shaking her rump and her tail!
  • Signature Instrument: Hoofius often plays his panpipes whenever the gang do a frolic. Also, Twinkle's air-guitar wand.
  • Sudden Video Game Moment: In "The Un-Quest", when the heroes enter the Tree of Certain Doom to recover the special acorn, everything is animated like an old-school 8-bit video game.
  • Swamps Are Evil: The Stinking Swamp.
  • Swamp Monster: The Swampclops.
  • Toilet Humor:
    • The oversized, farting raspberries in "Super Happy Bake-Off". Hoofius describes them as "the fabled hilarious raspberries of *fart noise*".
    • In "Mid-Quest Crisis", baby Herbert poops his diaper while Hoofius is cuddling him.
    • One of the many things that the Goblin King likes to do at the weekend is... breaking wind.
  • Theme Tune Extended: There is an extended, remixed version of the theme song, complete with karaoke lyrics. It can be heard here.
  • Title Theme Tune: "Questing, frolicking, questing, frolicking, questing, frolicikng, questing, frolicking, SUPER HAPPY MAGIC FOREST!"
  • This Is a Drill: In "Herbert's New Hat", Herbert sets his cooling hat to "turbo cooling mode" and uses it to drill a tunnel to Ice Cream Island.
  • You Need a Breath Mint: In "1,000th Quest", Twinkle says that Grackle has really stinky breath.

Quest accomplished. Time for a... LIFE RUIN FROLIC!
