- Pecker is supposed to be a Sandpiper, but is colored more like a stereotypical woodpecker because he was originally supposed to be a woodpecker, as his name suggests.
- Cluster *Bleep*-Bomb: Whenever a character swears a lot it ends up as this because of the Symbol Swearing.
- Drunk on Milk: Axel and Archie's dad is addicted to root beer.
- Family-Friendly Firearms: Guns either look like guns but don't shoot real bullets, don't look like guns but do shoot real bullets, or are covered up by a censor or just not there.
- G-Rated Drug: Drugs are replaced by things related to sugar.
- I Am Not Weasel: Don't call Axel a pig [1]
- Satellite Character: Parodied, Wood just forces Pecker to pretend to be his friend.
- Short-Runner: Lasted eight strips before ending.
- Species Surname: Axel and Archie Mongoose and many other characters.
- Symbol Swearing: Swearing is always replaced with this.
- Too Smart for Strangers: A parody of this. Old Man Stranger is a Dirty Old Man who lives in his ice cream truck, which is actually a van with the words "ICE CREEM!" painted on it.
