They eventually made it to their original world, and meet with someone named VY1. She explains that these phenomena are caused by the Big Bad and asked for their help to stop said enemy to destroys every world in the universe.
There was a public demo available, which has been lost. However, the developer's development demo is still available on their NicoNico account here
.
Tropes found in this work:
- Absurdly Spacious Sewer: There is one underneath the Red Country, which connects the village to the castle. Linda made her escape from the castle through here, and Miku and co go through the same route after Rin was taken to the castle because the soldiers mistook her for Linda.
- Achievement In Ignorance: In Fantasia, the Vocaloids can easily defeat assorted monsters they came across, having no idea that they're genuine threat to average person in the world. If Miku talk to the village elder in Blue Country, he points this fact out.Elder: You defeated those monsters?Miku: Erm... Well, they attacked us, so yeah.Elder: Those monsters can only be defeated by trained fighters from our village... You must be very strong.
- Ambiguous Situation: Unlike many other transformation items, it's not really explained in detail what the white dove was doing to make Miku able to transform into her White Dove form. The scene implies it's merging with her, but the Leaf of Guidance accessory seems to suggest it turns itself into an equipment.
- Apocalypse How: VY1's native world is completely annihilated by the spacetime vibration. After she arrived on another world, said world was caught by the aftereffect of the event and also vanished.
- All There in the Manual: Many of the explaination about the effects of a Vocaloid's form, like elemental and status ailment resistances, as well as how they alter stats, are available in the description of the developer's Nico Nico playlist.
- Awesome, but Impractical:
- Miku's "Super Wind" skill is an Disc-One Nuke which deal massive damage and hits all enemies. Problem is its SP cost is so high it's likely you doesn't even have enough SP to cast it at the time Miku gets her White Dove form, and it's still expensive even in mid-game.
- Luka's "Earthquake" hits all enemies, but it run on Luka's unimpressive Magic stat even with the boost from her Toeto form, and it SP cost is rather expensive considering her low SP even with the form's boost.
- Len's "Fatal Knife" skill. It's a powerful attack that always deals a critical hit and inflict Bleeding, but has a terrible accuracy and its SP cost is really high, not helped by Len's Servant of Evil form has reduced max SP. It also, for some reason, run on his middling Magic stat, making it not as strong as expected.
- Boring, but Practical: Rin's "Jump Kick" may not as impressive or interesting as Miku's "Super Wind" or Len's "Fatal Knife", but it doesn't have drawbacks as those high-powered, form-based attack skills have. It runs off Rin's massive Magic stat and its SP cost is easily manageable with Rin's very high max SP.
- Cargo Concealment Caper: Since Yellow Country closed off its borders to foreign visitors, Miku's group have to hide themselves in a cargo shipment from Red Country.
- Chekhov's Gun: Before Miku and co sneak into Yellow Country, the merchant ship captain gives them a special empty bottle and a note from Meilia that any message put in it will arrive to the receiver when thrown out to the sea. It's later used by Riliane to deliver her message of regrets to the deceased Allen after the revolution.
- Combination Attack: Some skills require two Vocaloids to perform it, like Miku and Luka's "Rondo of the Sun and the Moon".
- Cool Train: The Sandscraper is a train that can be used to cross to various worlds.
- Colorful Theme Naming: The countries in Fantasia are named after colors. There are Blue Country, Red Country, and Yellow Country.
- Crossover: One arc takes place in the post-apocalyptic world Monochroa, which is actually the Hollow World from Black★Rock Shooter. Miku and co. eventually run into BRS and Dead Master.
- Crossover Power Acquisition: Black★Rock Shooter eventually bequeaths her powers to Miku, allowing the later to transform into a copy of the former.
- Damsel in Distress: Neru unwillingly becomes one as she's pretty much taken as a hostage by the mysterious man during the White Dove arc.
- Goes Horribly Wrong: Human scientists in VY1's native world were conducting a research to find a way for humanity to safely cross to another world. However, they accidentally caused the "spacetime vibration" effect that annihilated every matter in the world.
- Guest-Star Party Member: Meilia joins Miku's group in the fight against the mysterious robot that attacks them. Though before the actual fight, you can equip her with a shield and an accessory.
- Epic Fail: Miku's first public performance ends up disastrous with her forgetting the lyrics thanks to stage fright and one of the lights suddenly falls off from the roof.
- Foreshadowing: When you control Rin in Red Country, talking to Miku has her said multiple people in the village apparently surprised by her appearance. Later, in Yellow Country, it's revealed that Miku looks so similar with Princess Mia, who was dead prior the game's events.
- Friendship Trinket: After sorting out the mess she unintendedly caused, Linda gives Rin her late sister's necklace as a gesture of friendship for helping her. It turns out the necklace is a Magical Accessory for Rin to transform into her Tomboy Princess form.
- Fun Size:
- Toeto is basically a mini version of Luka.
- Kaito's special accessory turns him into an android that looks like a kid version of him. He's so short even Rin becomes taller than him.
- Hope Spot: Riding the Sandscraper, Miku and co. are leaving Fantasia and returning to their world. However, Zatsune suddenly attacks them, which makes them fall off the train and end up stranded in Japanesk.
- Hyperactive Metabolism: Many of the health- and mana-restoring consumables are food (the former) or dairy products (the latter).
- Identical Stranger: Playable Vocaloids has at least one lookalike in the story, but Linda from the Tomboy Princess arc is notable as she looks just like Rin. The difference between them is subtle enough that only Len and Meilia can tell them apart when they switched their outfits.
- Imaginary Love Triangle: Tei apparently believes Miku had "stolen" Len away from her and thus sees her as a competition to eliminate (nevermind that they are Like Brother and Sister at most). This delusion makes her a liability for the antagonists, since she would fixated herself on these two than doing her assigned task much to Ritsu's chagrin.
- Interdimensional Travel Device: The Sandscraper serves as the vehicle for Miku and co to safely cross to another world.
- La Résistance: In the Yellow Country, Miku and co. eventually run into the rebel movement led by Oscar. They tries to free the long-suffering country from the tyrannical reign of Princess Rilliane. They were eventually successed at deposing her, but the truth is more complicated than that.
- Late to the Realization: On their way to enter Yellow Country illegally, Len asks Miku where was Ruko and Ritsu was going. Miku cheerily said they're going to Yellow Country. It takes Len to repeat what she was just said before Miku finally realized something's amiss: How the two enter a country that had sealed all entries?
- Learned from the News: Linda first learned the fact that Mia had died from the villagers talking about it.
- Lecture as Exposition: A particularly lengthy one given by VY1 regarding her origins and also about the existence of parallel worlds when Miku's group meet her. She also explains the nature of the Big Bad and also Zatsune Miku.
- Legend Fades to Myth: Noah believes that the legend of the "Leaf of Guidance", as most people knows it, was actually very different from its original form. She arguments that the supposed leaf is actually the white dove mentioned in the tale, which has a leaf-like pattern on its chest.
- Let's Split Up, Gang!: After arriving in a town inside Red Country's territory, Miku's group decide to split up to gather some information. This is also the part where Rin (under the player's control) would meet Linda for the first time.
- Locked Out of the Loop: Linda is unaware that her sister Mia had died at Yellow Country's border because everyone else in Red Country's palace never told her per Meilia's request. She eventually learned this when she escapes to the village and is not happy when found out.
- Love Triangle:
- Magical Accessory: There are special accessories that will change the compatible Vocaloid's outfit, grant them new skills, and alter their stats when equipped.
- Metal Slime: The "Kuupi" green enemies are fast, have a tendency to flee from battle, and they pack a punch if they do attack. However, they drop significant amount of XP and money, which are higher than their golden cousins.
- Mistaken for Suicidal: When Neru told the Kagamines she saw Miku running to the bridge near the station, Len promptly panics and thought she was going to jump off to the cliff below. As it turned out, Miku did still sad for botched her debut concert, but she was nowhere suicidal as Len thought.
- Multiform Balance: Every one of the transformations alters a character's stat, which makes them leans more to physical or magical fighter. Though, so far, the only one that's demonstarting this is Miku, who has three different usable forms (including her default).
- The Multiverse: The setting of the game has multiple set of distinct worlds. The protagonists eventually travel freely between them with the Sandscraper, a Cool Train.
- Nice Job Breaking It, Hero!: VY1 inadvertently causes the body she's possessing to become another sentient singularity just like herself, but unlike her who's just trying to survive, said character wants to bring total destruction to all worlds.
- Off with His Head!: Since one of the arcs takes an inspiration from mothy's "Servant of Evil", this is inevitably going to happen. This game's version of Allen also died by the guillotine.
- Ridiculously Human Robot: In most worlds, Vocaloid and UTAU characters take in shape of androids, who act just like human beings. The only exception is VY1, whom is an energy being.
- Secret-Keeper: Miku's group, Meilia, and Kyle become this after the end of the Daughter of Evil arc. Most people thought Riliane was a tyrant, while in reality she was misguided by the treacherous bishop. Also, the person that Oscar and the Resistance executed was actually Allen disguising as her..
- Shared Life-Meter: The fight against Ritsu, Ruko, and Tei in Yellow Country's mines play out with them act as a single enemy and a shared health meter.
- Single Line of Descent: A non-human example. The white dove that Miku and co. encountered turns out to be the descendant of the bird mentioned in a legend, as confirmed by Noah. However, it has different powers than its anscestor.
- Sitcom Arch-Nemesis: Neru and Tei quickly see each other as this, since they like the same guy (Len).
- Small Role, Big Impact: The captain of the merchant ship of Red Country only appears for a while, but without his help, the Vocaloids wouldn't able to enter into Yellow Country and thus return to their world and meet Kiyoteru's group. In addition, the truth regarding Mia's death would be lost and the Resistance would kill Riliane for real instead of Allen.
- Stealth-Based Mission: After Rin got thrown into the jail for impersonating Linda, you must look for the exit whilst avoiding the guards. Getting caught would result in her getting thrown back into her cell.
- Stunned Silence: Miku, Luka, and Rin have this reaction when they witness Len's Chuunibyou antics in the Yellow Country's castle.
- Summon Magic: Several skills, such as Miku's "Ievan Polkka", summon an ally whom attack the target.
- Timed Mission: You're given a time limit to help Toeto rescuing a cat from a tree. If you don't make it in time, it's instant Non-Standard Game Over.
- Trapped in Another World: This applies to the arcs in Fantasia and Japanesk. The Vocaloids (and Teto) are stranded into these worlds and must find a way to return to their native world.
- Twin Switch:
- Rin and her Identical Stranger Princess Linda swap their clothes per the latter's request. However, before they could switch back, a soldier of Linda's castle arrives and dragged Rin away, mistaking her for the princess.
- Just like in "Servant of Evil" by mothy, Allen switches place with Rilliane when the resistance about to break into the castle.
- Unsettling Gender-Reveal: Len is deeply disturbed when he found out Ritsu is a man.Rin: By the way Len, Ritsu is a guyLen: Huh?! WHAAAAAT!?
- Vomit Discretion Shot: Neru gets seasick on the ship carrying the Vocaloids to Yellow Country and going to puke. It's not directly shown, but the game shows poor Miku's grossed out reaction.Neru: Urk, I can't hold it back anymore!Miku: N-Neru, Stay back! Gyaaahh!
- We Need a Distraction: To help the Vocaloids, the merchant ship's captain distracts the guards of the borders of Yellow Country while they sneak through the checkpoint.
