Metaloid: Origin is a 2D Action Platform Game by Retro Revolution and 7 Ravens Co. Ltd.
The planet Utopa, home planet of a race of Mechanical Lifeforms called "Metaloids", has been visited by an alien group known as "Lucian Corporation". The Lucian Corp's CEO, Lucian, makes a deal with Oberon, king of the Metaloids, to have the rights to mine the planet's resources in exchange with allowing the Metaloids to have access to their technology. In a few years, Utopa seems to be entering into a golden age of technological advancement.
However, one day, rumours start circulating of an armed robot group roaming around areas under Lucian Corporation's control. These rumours reach the ears of Nicolas, leader of a warrior clan who begins to suspect that the Lucian Corporation is up to something. With King Oberon's blessing, Nicolas sends out his best warriors, a trio of Metaloids known as the "Predators" wielding the power of "The Origin Shard", to look into this.
The game was released on March 28th, 2019.
Metaloid: Origin contains examples of:
- Action Girl: Erika and Neva. Zeta doesn't qualify, on account of being a guy
. - Ambiguous Robots: The Metaloids are referred to as a "biomechanical race", though what this actually means is unclear. Civillian Metaloids, as seen in the intro, have few, if any, overtly overtly robotic features; however, all of the Metaloids who have been seen with their shoulders exposed (Erika, Neva, and the unnamed kidnapping victim seen in the intro) appear to have vaguely mechanical-looking lines/cracks on their upper armsnote . The Predators, however, have more overtly robotic features, implying that they might be the equivalent of cyborgs.
- Anime Hair: All over the place, but most prominent with Zeta.
- Big Bad: Lucian.
- Defeat Equals Explosion: Since the enemies are all robotic in origin, they tend to blow up when they're beaten.
- Exploding Barrels: The game has red barrels that explode when shot.
- Exposed to the Elements: The girls continue to wear their highly revealing outfits in all manner of environments. Presumably, as Mechanical Lifeforms, they're more resistant to extreme conditions than humans. That is assuming their "clothes" aren't part of their bodies.
- Floating Platforms: The game has these.
- Gamer Chick: Erika. Half her dialogue seems to consist of video game references.
- Humongous Mecha: Lucian brings one out for the final battle. It's called "Origin Titan".
- Leotard of Power: Erika wears one with a short jacket over the top. It leaves little to the imagination.
- Little Bit Beastly: The Metaloids appear to be a race of lion people, and Neva's helmet resembles rabbit ears.
- Mechanical Lifeforms: The Metaloids, though precisely ''how'' mechanical is unclear.
- More Dakka: Neva's default weapon.
- Navel Outline: Erika's outfit features one.
- Playing with Fire: Erika's powers are fire-based.
- Retraux: Done in 16-bit style graphics.
- Robot Girl: Erika and Neva.
- Shock and Awe: Zeta's powers seem to revolve around electricity.
- Side View: The game is viewed this way.
- Spikes of Doom: The Predators will take damage if they come in contact with spikes.
- Stripperiffic: Erika's outfit shows a lot of skinnote , particularly around her crotch and sides, and also leaves her shoulders exposed. Neva's outfit isn't as bad, but still leaves her upper thighs, shoulders and stomach exposed. Averted with Zeta, as his (admittedly odd) armour covers everything from the neck down, except his fingers.
