The Emperor's death

Oliver's party arrives just in time to find the Emperor of Hamelin on the brink of death, having already been fatally wounded by Shadar. Before succumbing to his wounds, the emperor reveals that he knows that Swaine is actually Gascon, his eldest son from the future, much to Swaine's astonishment. The emperor assures his son that even with his drastic change of appearance in the future, he can still recognize his own flesh and blood.
