Street Fighter IV
- Seth: Juri... That power... That eye... She's no ordinary fighter. She is an untamed animal who seeks to destroy and consume all that enters her sight. And that includes me. Still, as long as I can manipulate her like a pawn in my grand game, I shall leave her to her own devices. She has altered her own body in her insatiable quest for power. She respects no law. No morality. She does whatever it takes to achieve her goals and quench her limitless thirst. In that way, she's no different from me. Of course, all of humanity walks that path, whether they admit it or not. Strip away the restrictions of law and common decency, and it becomes clear that the engine that drives humanity is their own selfish ambition. To achieve one's own goals necessitates trampling those of others underfoot. Yet mankind is all too anxious to label those who would do so as evil. What tragic irony. Humanity's defeat at my hands will serve to strengthen me. I will be baptized in the fire of their unabashed ambition and be born anew, ready to usher in a new age free from the restrictions of artificial morality. Ha ha ha... I can then hunt down this emotionless animal for sport and put her down for good...Seth: I understand, Ryu. I know why we are here. You see, I simply could not resist to test out the legendary power you possess myself. You struggle against the temptation of that power. Oh, it must be torture! Still, some questions must be asked, some situations faced head on. Surely you, who are most at home in the ring, find this power inside to be a great temptation! And yet you struggle in vain against it even as it seeks to control you utterly! Why do you fight it?! WHY?! Keep it inside and you will die! Your death will garner nothing, it would be without meaning! Power only has meaning if it is put into action. It defines you. Power like that is what rules the world! Everyone seeks power, seeks to grow in strength, but this goal is out of reach by ordinary men. The poor seek riches, the ugly beauty, we compare ourselves to others and seek to cover our own inadequacies to find peace of mind. The mere existence of those who are better than us becomes intolerable. We fight in retaliation! If beauty is not enough, we use money. If money does not work, we resort to violence! This energy is what powers our world! It is essential! All I seek is to help this natural process along! This destructive force begotten from conflict! This power that everyone lusts for, I will spread it over the world with but a touch! It is like a well that can never run dry! A precious mineral flowing from an inexhaustible mine! This power will be mine!
Street Fighter V
Juri: Between you and me, Seth, violence and chaos are all I have left. I focused my mind and body, my whole being, on training so that when given the opportunity to pay back Bison, I'd be more than capable of doing just that. I was so obsessed with becoming a powerful fighter that I wasn't just doing it to settle a score with Bison anymore, I was doing it for me. But with him dying during that tournament somewhere in the middle of the ocean, that chance was stolen from me. Where did that leave me? What could I do with the drive for my entire existence taken away? Turns out I still had one purpose left: fighting. I'd become so obsessed with becoming a more powerful fighter that as much as I was doing it all to settle a score with Bison, I was also doing it for me. Apparently, I had developed a taste for delivering pain and mayhem and Bison's death didn't stop my cravings for it. I discovered that this hammer was too good at smashing things to be stashed away in a toolbox just because it'd lost its nail. Smashing other things, anything, was pretty fulfilling too.
