Not quite actual size.

The Pokémon mini is a handheld gaming console created by Nintendo and The Pokémon Company. The system was released in November 16, 2001 in North America, December 14 in Japan, and March 15, 2002 in Europe.

Created during the height of the franchise's initial popularity at the Turn of the Millennium, as its name suggests, the Pokémon mini is dedicated solely towards the Pokémon franchise. Notably the smallest video game system with interchangeable cartridges ever produced, the device had a wide variety of features to support various types of games — some of which wouldn't be present in a main Nintendo system until the Nintendo 3DS — including an infrared port for multiplayer gaming, a shock detector and pedometer, a motor to produce force feedback, and a real-time clock.

With the device releasing near the end of "Pokémania", and being a console that only boasts Pokémon spin-off games in its library, this would prove to be a tough sell, and the system would only last on the market for around a year, with its final game (Pokémon Breeder mini) releasing exactly a year after the console's Japanese launch. In total, the Pokémon mini only had ten games, only four of which released internationally: five of its titles were Japan-exclusive, and a sixth never released in North America. Two years later, Pokémon Channel would release and feature an official Pokémon mini emulator containing a handful of games from the system, albeit with most being stripped down demo versions.

In the years after the product's life, those Japan-only entries would eventually get English fan translations, which can be found here. The console would also develop a healthy homebrewing scene.
