Whether they come in the forms of evil extraterrasials, rampaging robots or devious demons, each Sentai have faced a series of Monsters of the Week alsmot Once an Episode.


  • Himitsu Sentai Gorenger's Masked Monsters are the Black Cross Army's cybernetic field commanders known for their bizarre masks and deadly skills.
  • J.A.K.Q. Dengekitai's Crime Monsters are evil robots that usually act as the muscle for each episode's Crime Boss. After Shine's arrival, they're phased out and replaced by the Invader Robots, which are more creative in their designs whereas the Crime Monsters are mostly silver-colored.
  • Battle Fever J's Egos Monsters are created from Satan Egos' DNA being inserted into an object of choice and are treated as his offsprings. Each Egos Monster also has a gigantic "Little Sibling" which is deployed when they're defeated.
  • Denshi Sentai Denziman's Vader Monsters are stored within eggs and are hatched with Queen Hedrian's choice.
  • Taiyou Sentai Sun Vulcan's Mongers are robots created from the magma within Japanese volcanoes.
  • Dai Sentai Goggle Five's Synthetic Beasts are created from the DNA of an animal and metal atoms. After being defeated, they're revived to pilot the Kongs, which are gigantic Humongous Mecha versions of themselves. They're the first monsters in the franchise to receive a Mid-Season Upgrade: The ones from episode 34 onwards are enhanced with Neo-Metal to become stronger, and the final three Synthetic Beasts recieve additional power through Hightron energy.
  • Kagaku Sentai Dynaman's Evolution Beasts are created when General Kar manipulates an animal's DNA with the power of "Life Soup", evolving it as if it had the ideal conditions to become the superior species of the planet. Mid-season they're upgraded into Mechaevolution Beasts, which are created from fusing between an animal's DNA and a man-made object.
  • Choudenshi Bioman notably averts the trope for ground operations, which are handled by Gear's Big Three or by the five Beastnoids. Giant Robot battles play this straight, with Gear sending the Mecha Gigans to counter the Biomen's BioRobo. These are later replaced by the Neo Mecha Gigans, which are non-autonomous Humongous Mecha piloted by members of the Big Three.
  • Dengeki Sentai Changeman's Space Beast Warriors are aliens from various planets conquered by Star King Bazoo.
  • Choushinsei Flashman's Beast Warriors are creatures created by Dr. Keflen from the DNA of Earth animals or aliens using his genetic synthisizer. Near the end of Mess' campaign, they are replaced by the Deus Beast Warriors, which are either One-Winged Angel forms of high-ranking members of Mess or separate monsters created from combining their DNA with that of Great Emperor Lah Deus.
  • Hikari Sentai Maskman's Earth Imperial Beasts combined from Tube's Dogglers and a parasite that powers them up.
  • Choujuu Sentai Liveman's Brain Beasts are monsters created by Guardnoid Gash by combining brain cores of the victims of Armed Brain Army Volt with an object.
  • Kousoku Sentai Turboranger has the Bōma Beasts, who were sealed away during the war between the Bōma and the humans and fairies 20,000 years ago, and have to be unsealed by the living Bōma members.
  • Chikyuu Sentai Fiveman's Silver Imperial Army Zone has multiple ways of gathering monsters of the week: They're either Galactic Warriors already allied with Zone, creations of Galactic Scientist Doldora or combinations of two Galactic Warriors.
  • Choujin Sentai Jetman's Dimensional Beasts are created when a parasitic Dimensional Bug bites a man-made object. Midway into the series the Dimensional Bugs are upgraded into the Bio Dimensional Bugs, which contain an animal's DNA and can combine its attributes to the mutated object. Notably, the first monster of the week sent by Vyram was the Dimensional Bug Mother, which detaches its egg-sack containing the Dimensional Bugs before its defeat, allowing Vyram to create the rest of the Dimensional Beasts.
  • Kyōryū Sentai Zyuranger's Dora Monsters begin their lives as small clay statues created by Pleprechaun before he uses his machine to bring them alive. With the obtaining of the more powerful Dokita Clay, the Bandora Gang start creating the more powerful Dokita Dora Monsters.
  • Gosei Sentai Dairanger's Gorma Minions, are themed after objects and have various professions.
  • Ninja Sentai Kakuranger, the first Ninja Sentai, fittingly has the Kakurangers fighting Yōkai, who are initially independent before being assembled by Gashadokuro and later by Daimaou.
  • Chouriki Sentai Ohranger's Baranoia Machine Beasts are evil robots built by the Baranoia Empire.
  • Gekisou Sentai Carranger's Gorotsuki are lesser members of the Space Bosozoku Bowzock.
  • Denji Sentai Megaranger's Nezire Beasts are created from manipulated animal DNA exposed to great amounts of energy. They're later evolved into the Psycho Nezilars through the remains of Guirail.
  • Seijuu Sentai Gingaman's monsters of the week are split into four groups, each commanded by the Balban general that is currently in command: First are Gun General Sambash's Majin Gang, which are bug-like delinquents. Following them are Sword General Budoh's Majin Mob, which are samurai themed after aquatic creatures. Following them are Spectral Empress Illies' Majin Tribe, which are themed after mythical creatures. The final group consists of Destruction King Batobass' Majin Corps, all of which are brutish monsters themed after weapons.
  • Kyūkyū Sentai GoGoV's Psyma Beasts are formed from cards showered by Minus Energy. Like in Gingaman, they're split into four groups themed after the Natural Elements and are each commanded by one of the Psyma Siblings: Zylpheeza (Air), Cobolda (Earth), Denus (Water) and Drop/Salamandes (Fire).
  • Mirai Sentai Timeranger's Londrez Prisoners are criminals freed by the Londrez Family from cryogenical imprisonment. Unlike other monsters of the week, they're not destroyed by the Timerangers, but rather get recaptured by them upon defeat.
  • Hyakujuu Sentai Gaoranger's Baron Orgs are spirits that possess man-made objects and make them into their bodies.
  • Ninpuu Sentai Hurricaneger's Chuunin are split into four groups, each commanded by one of the Co-Dragons: Second Spear Chuuzubo's Alien Ninja Corps are biologic alien Ninja, Fifth Spear Sargain's Puppet Ninja Corps are robots created by himself (and can alternatively be used as a mechanical body instead of his usual one), Sixth Spear Satarakura's Masked Ninja Corps are his Monster Clown allies, and Seventh Spear Sandaaru's Fan Ninja Beast Corps are wild beasts tamed by him.
  • Bakuryuu Sentai Abaranger has two types of monsters: The Trinoids, human-sized monsters created by Apostle of Creation Mikela and are themed after a plant, an animal and an object, and the Giganoids, gigantic monsters created by Apostle of Infinity Voffa from his piano and are named after classical music pieces.
  • Tokusou Sentai Dekaranger's Alienizers are alien criminals working independently. They sometimes hire the services of Rainian Agent Abrella, who sells them weapons,Anaroids and Humongous Mecha for extra fire power.
  • Mahou Sentai Magiranger's Hades Beastmen are mythical-themed monsters summoned by Victory General Branken. When he's replaced by Sorcery Priest Meemy, they're replaced by the more intelligent Hades Beastmen. After Meemy's death the monsters of the week are dropped in favor of the Infershia Pantheon, though they function similarly since only one member of the Pantheon can be sent to fight the Magirangers at a time.
  • Out of the four Negative Syndicates in GoGo Sentai Boukenger, only two of them use monsters of the week: The Jaryuu Clan's Wicked Dragons are evolved Jaryuu that undergo a transformation by the hands of Ryuuwon after managing to defeat the others in a fight to the death, and Dark Shadow's Tsukumogami are created from the combination of two or more object. The Gordom clan have no monsters of the week (except for in the first and final episodes), while the Questers Gai and Rey only rely on their own sheer power and on the Quester Robos to fight. There are also a few independent monsters the Boukengers face.
  • Juken Sentai Gekiranger's Beast Men are created when a RinRinshi passes the Chamber of Trials and obtains the power to transform into a beastial form, though they can't keep it for too long and will sometimes face the Gekirangers in their RinRinshi forms. After converting the Rinjuken style to Genjuken, they're replaced by the Genjuken Warriors themed after the Chinese Zodiac.
  • Engine Sentai Go-onger's Barbaric Machine Beasts are Mechanical Lifeforms separated into three groups themed after land, sea and sky, which are commanded by the pollution ministers Yogostein, Kegalesia and Kitaneidas respectively.
  • Samurai Sentai Shinkenger's Ayakashi are Yōkai that dwell in the Sanzu River and summoned by the Gedoshu to attack the Earth.
  • Each faction in Tensou Sentai Goseiger naturally have their own kinds of monsters of the week: Universal Annihilation Army Warstar's Insect Monsters are insect-themed aliens from around the galaxy, Earth Condemnation Group Yuumajuu's monsters were originally sealed 10,000 years ago and have to be unsealed by Makuin and Kinggon, and Machine Onslaught Empire Matrintis' Matroids are robots manufactured by them. After Brajira of the Messiah is revealed to have been the Big Bad the entire time, he summons his three Dark Headders to function as this and also brainwashes Gosei Knight into becoming the fourth one.
  • Kaizoku Sentai Gokaiger's Action Commanders are Space Empire Zangyack's top members.
  • Tokumei Sentai Go-Busters's Metaloids are created when Enter or Escape infect and object with MetaVirus. Using the Metaloids data, they can also create the gigantic MegaZords (no relation to the other Megazord) based on the metaloids
  • Zyuden Sentai Kyoryuger's Debo Monsters are created from Chozetsushin Deboth's energy and correspond to the feelings of happiness, sadness or anger. Candelilla, Aigaron and Dogold (later joined by Endolf) use them to gather these emotions from humans and reawaken Deboth from his slumber.
  • Ressha Sentai ToQger's Shadow Monsters are in charge of taking over the cities of Japan and gather darkness from their residents' sadness and suffering. Marchioness Morc commands her own brand of Shadow Monsters called "Keepers", who guard the already-captured Shadow Towns and the Castle Terminal.
  • Shuriken Sentai Ninninger's Yōkai are created when a corrupted Sealing Shuriken is thrown at an object. The more powerful Advanced Youkai are created when two Sealing Shurikens are thrown at an object, and the even more powerful Super Advanced Youkai was created when four Sealing Shurikens were thrown into an object. Oddly enough, there are also three Western Youkai themed after Dracula, Frankenstein's Monster and a Wolf Man.
  • Doubutsu Sentai Zyuohger's Deathgalien Players are aliens sent by one of the Deathgalien Team Leaders to partacipate in the Blood Game.
  • Uchu Sentai Kyuranger's Daikaan's are basically "evil overlords of the week" who oversee the planets conquered by Space Shognunate Jark Matter. After defeating many of them, the Kyurangers begin facing the Karos, who oversee star systems and are above the Daikaans in the Jark Matter hierarchy.
  • Kaitou Sentai Lupinranger VS Keisatsu Sentai Patranger's Ganglers are criminals who compete to succseed the retiring Dogranio Yaboon. They can keep pieces of the Lupin Collection within a safe on their bodies. A few ganglers have more than one safe and therefore can ulitize more pieces of the Lupin Collection.
  • Kishiryu Sentai Ryusoulger's Minosaurs are manifestations of humans' desires that are given form when Kleon forcibly feeds a human with their slime. The Minosaurs are empowered from their host's life energy, so the Ryusoulgers have to defeat it quickly, lest the Minosaur's host dies and it obtains a complete, undefeatable form.
  • Mashin Sentai Kiramager's Jamenshi are created when a Bechat wears a jamen (evil mask) and is evolved. Though lacking the ability to grow in size, the Jamenshi can absorb dark energy and send it to Mask of Darkness Carantula, who uses it to send a Kaiju-like Jamen Beast out of Yodonheim.
  • Kikai Sentai Zenkaiger's Worlds are created when Mechanic Officer Ijirude gives a Toziru Gear containing an Alternate Universe to a Kudakk, evolving it into a world. Their gigantic counterparts, the Great Worlds, are created when Ijirude gives the same Toziru Gear to a Kudaitest.
  • Avataro Sentai Donbrothers' Hitotsuki are humans who are transformed into Oni-like forms when their desires become too strong. When enlarged, their appearance changes and they're called Hitotsukings. They're fought by not only the Donbrothers, but also by the Noto, and their fate is what causes the conflict between the two factions (The Donbrothers want to return the humans to normal, while the Noto want to kill them).
  • Ohsama Sentai King-Ohger's Kaijim are the bug-themed residents of the Earth Empire Bugnarok. The second arc villains of the series, the Galactinsects, don't have any monsters of the week at all; Like in Bioman, their schemes are handled by the five Galactinsect Jesters, and their are almost no giant robot battles at all.
  • Bakuage Sentai Boonboomger's Kurumaju are monsters created when a Hashiriyan inserts their Ignition Key into an object. the Kurumaju absorb a type of energy called Gyahsoline from the humans' screams.
  • No.1 Sentai Gozyuger's No One Kaijins are monsters created from humans corrupted by a single desire, each of them having a single skill they excel in.
