For as long as humanity has been around, there has always been a fascination with female breasts. It's hard to ignore the influence that they have on several pieces of media. Thus, there are a plethora of tropes about them and how they are shown or used in media.
And this is an index filled with tropes relating to (usually) human mammaries.
Size
- Big:
- Big-Breast Pride: A character has large boobs and is happy about it.
- Buxom Beauty Standard: Big boobs are commonly regarded as more attractive.
- D-Cup Distress: A character has large boobs and is upset about it.
- Most Common Superpower: Comic books (and comic-inspired media) have a preference for large boobs.

Manners of display
- Boobs-and-Butt Pose: A fanservice pose with a character's back to the camera with their boobs and butt emphasized.
- Cleavage Window: Clothing with an opening in it to expose cleavage.
- Impossibly Low Neckline: A neckline so low that the clothes shouldn't logically be covering them up.
- Navel-Deep Neckline: Cleavage so low that it goes past your bellybutton.
- Sideboob: Instead of the cleavage being visible, it's the sides.
- Underboobs: The cleavage is at the bottom of the breasts, instead of the top.
Manners of concealment
- Godiva Hair: A woman's hair covers her chest to preserve her modesty.
- Hidden Buxom: Concealing how big your boobs really are.
- Organic Bra: Female humanoid creatures have thick scales or other irregular skin patterns over their breasts in order to not show nipples.
- Seashell Bra: A bra made of seashells that are very common among mermaids.
- Suppressed Mammaries: Tying down breasts to appear younger or male.

- Boob-Based Gag: Comedy involving or surrounding breasts.
- Breast Attack: An injury to the boobs.
- Breast Expansion: Breasts grow rapidly, usually to ridiculously big proportions.
- Bust-Contrast Duo: Two girls of differing cup-sizes have contrasting personalities.
