Ironically, the entire quest was supposed to be a first hand perspective of that of a lower leveled ninja, on the level of the average Chunin or at best, a non-elite Jonin. The opportunity to grow was always there of course, but the mechanics and quest system was designed to make progress an achievable but harder to progress as you go on, coupled with other factors such as age, merely enough timeslots, as well needing general upkeep of skills. All of it coalescing into a fair and just system. This went to the gutter by the merely the first 4 chapters when the dice said "HA" and gave unto the quest back to back 90+ and Nat 100 rolls. This would go on to become a part of a trend with thedave, as his luck with the dice can be best described as "Asking For It", in which he does◊. Because at the best and worst of times, he is literally asking for it.◊
The dice did not stop there, not only the training rolls, but interactions with other characters as well. Of the most infamous, the entire situation all the way up to the OT3, with proof via screenshots of dice rolls.
The greatest and most infamous of all of these needs some explanation. When Takeo was facing off against Akatsuchi, a random anon asked what would happen if two 100s were rolled in a single round of combat, which Dave replied with "You win"◊, nonchalantly stating something that would never likely never happen but there were a few in the chat who bet that such an event would occur. The next round of the battle comes not even 5 minutes later and Dave asks for four rolls and this happens!◊ Chat was rejoicing at this legendary feat of luck while Dave was exasperated for once again tempting the dice and seeing the result go against him.*The odds of two 100-sided dice out of four to roll the maximum is calculated at 0.059203%, or roughly 1,689 to 1.
When the various Genin team arrangements are announced, Takeo and Totagi endeavor to maintain a calm and collected facade befitting of a shinobi of Konoha. Suro...rolls a four for her composure and does not.
When Takeo explains to Team 7 his reasoning behind killing the incapacitated ninja that assaulted his group on their first C-rank mission, thedave describes Naruto's reaction to the conversation perfectly.
Takeo's match against Kiba in the Chunin preliminary rounds of the Chunin exams is somewhat hilarious. The former only has time to perform one attack before his opponent will be in combat range, so he unleashes a large Syrup Field on the area in front of him. Kiba then proceeds to roll a modified 2 on a best of 2d100 for his intelligence check, meaning he pays no attention to Takeo's technique, runs right through the field, gets stuck on the fifth step, and asks Akamaru what he's stuck in only for the ninken to then proceed to jump down and lick the syrup field, cinching Takeo's victory in only a few seconds. In the balconies, his sensei has to greatly fight the urge to Face Palm.
Team 24's mission to deliver supplies to the various Konoha warfronts in the land of Noodles was meant to be a high-stakes mission with enemies hounding them continuously and danger lurking around every corner. Dave then proceeded to roll so abysmally for Kiri's informational awareness*26, 39, 23, 11, 33, and 22 consecutively on a series of 6 d100's that the highly dangerous mission effectively became a scenic journey through the Land of Noodle's countryside.
During Takeo's first outing to the Torn Silk, Dave rolled a series of d100's to see how well the various mentors would pace themselves while having drinks with their students. The highest of said rolls was a 56, which leads to:
Sugishi drunkenly raving about Takeo's performance in the finals and how the two of them will absolutely dominate should they ever be sent to a Kiri warfront.
An entirely smashed Kurenai slurringly stating that she'll turn Takeo into a shinobi that will redeem genjutsu in Konoha.
A seemingly sober Kakashi stating that Takeo was his student first while questionably calling him similar to both himself and Itachi as Konoha's next prodigy. He then devolves into girlish giggles.
A buzzed Hoheto adamantly defending his place as Takeo's primary instructor before being sidetracked by a very affectionate Kurenai.
Just as Takeo begins to scan the bar for someone capable of saving him from his ordeal, an irate Ebisu storms in, sends Kurenai home while having Hoheto escort her, sobers Kakashi by forcefully revealing his Sharingan, engages in a logical debate with Sugishi over why her proposed tactics would fail in actual combat, and then has a calm and collected discussion with Takeo over the importance of moderation while drinking.
During the Suna Chunin exams, Team 7 is forced to escort a Suna jonin acting as a diplomatic figure across the desert. Said escort decided that they should journey during the hottest hours of the day, leading to both Sasuke and Sakura catching heat stroke, therefore forcing Naruto to be the Only Sane Man of their party.
The date between Takeo and Umeni wasn't off to a good start, but it got interesting when it was revealed that Umeni was using a henge to appear more womanly for the date. Chat then voted for Takeo to use a henge of his own, with the original intent to subtly age up over the course of the date. What was the roll on being subtle? NAT 1! Takeo decided to go full mid 20's right off the bat, complete with beard. It was actually for the best, as even Umeni found it hilarious and it saved their date, with the two agreeing to remain friends. It was collectively agreed to be the best Nat 1 in the entire quest.
The various quotes from the Character List of the cast reacting to Takeo not only beating Hanzo in a spar and being a part of the team that killed Kakuzu, but also dating Sakura AND Temari are hilarious. Here are a few of these reactions:
Totagi: Sakura and Temari? How hormonal can you get? We're all changing and discovering and exploring, but how any of you can possibly think that this is a good idea… Oh well, I suppose you're one of the wild oats types. Just try and avoid any unnecessary heartbreak.
Sugishi: You're the fucking best! Use the fucking BOG, summon goddamn Boss Yi himself and whoop that crusty old fucker's fucking ass, then go out and save my tight ass and help us kill the everloving shit out of Kakuzu the Mercenary all in a matter of weeks?! Shit, kid. At this rate, if I'm still active by then, dibs on being your kids' jonin-sensei!
Danzo: Hope. How strange, to feel it, after all this time.
Kankuro: … Excuse me, I have to go and build a bigger suit. Just in case this whole triangle thing ends up breaking my sister's heart. You understand.
Witnessing Hinata's usefulness in scouting for enemy shinobi with the Byakugan has Takeo believe that every team of Konoha-nin should have their own "radio Hyuuga", at which point he then wonders if Danzo has ever had a similar thought.
It was put to a vote whether Takeo would spend the night with Sakura and Temari or go to sleep early to rest for the upcoming mission against Iwa. Despite voting in favor for sleeping with his girlfriends, Dave jokingly posted an update of Takeo refusing and sleeping alone, repeating "I Love Konohagakure'' to keep himself calm. Though it was deleted after the real update came, a copy can be found here.◊
While Takeo is detailing his plan to assault and annihilate the entirety of Iwagakure to his squad, Sugishi can't help but start literally drooling at the thought of it. When he is finished and asks if anyone has questions, Sugishi lets her thoughts get the better of her and asks if he has gotten his girlfriends pregnant yet so she can get ready to become their future jonin-sensei. When she then gets into an argument with both Temari and Sakura, both of which are still in their teens, Takeo takes a page out of Kakashi's book and Body Flickers away right after Sugishi declares that both of them would be lucky if they decided to already be carrying his kids.
