Monstrous is a AU Monsters, Inc. fanfiction that takes place fifteen thousand years ago. Suel is a Shapeshifting creature that feeds on the fear he causes in his chosen prey. After one particualar hunt, however, he finds that he has inadvertently orphaned a 'Youngling' and decides that it is his duty to safeguard it until he can return it to its herd.

Monstrous contains examples of:
- Call a Rabbit a "Smeerp": Humans live in herds and children are younglings. Justified somewhat because the story isn't being told by a human, but by something that hunts humans, so he has a little bit of a different view of them
- Curb-Stomp Battle: Suel versus the humans. The humans don't do very well
- Emotion Eater: Suel feeds on fear and can sense how strong the various emotions are in those around him
- Even Evil Has Standards: Suel does not approve of deliberately withholding food from a youngling that's obviously starving
- Tempting Fate: The Boisterous Male brags about how he'd like to give Suel a taste of his spear just before Suel decides to attack him, break his spear in half and destroy his mind
