Invasion of Hell, Part III: the Nightmare
is an installment of Adventures of a Line Hopper Series Fic that crosses over Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Doctor Who, serving as the twelfth entry of The Child of Balime season 4. It is a One-Shot Fic published on April 23, 2015, preceded by Mirror Vision and followed by You Never Know What You Have....
This short fic summarizes Buffy's experience of going from one hell dimension to another in her attempt to go back to Earth. Along the way, she writes letters for her daughter back home and tries to save as many people as she can, but she quickly finds that the Daleks following her are deadlier than any dimension-ruling demon. One notable dimension she finds is one where everybody is already dead and looks human, a sight so terrible she can't write a complete letter under the orange sky.
Invasion of Hell, Part III: the Nightmare contains examples of:
- Continuity Nod: Upon seeing a dimension full of humans, she wonders if this is the same dimension as Carmen's from The Facksisil of Balime.
- Late to the Tragedy: The main spotlight of the story is Buffy coming to dimension where everybody is already dead. She figures out that the Daleks have already come to this demension and killed everyone.
- Scenery Gorn: The nightmarish dimension is introduced with multiple paragraphs describing how bloody the ground and the children's corpses lying there are while the buildings and the sky are just as dead.
