Invasion of Hell: Part I, Genesis
is an installment of Adventures of a Line Hopper Series Fic that crosses over Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Doctor Who, serving as the sixth entry of The Child of Balime season 4. It is a One-Shot Fic published on February 5, 2015, preceded by Perfect World and followed by Consequences.
After escaping Acathla's hell dimensions, Buffy finds herself transported to another dimension after another dimension without signs of getting back to hers. After saving a dimension from their demon lords for the countless time, Buffy finds herself in a dimension that seems lifeless, at least until she finds a Genesis Ark, meaning an army of Daleks are there.
Invasion of Hell: Part I, Genesis contains examples of:
- Call-Back: Buffy remembers the Genesis Ark from the Canary Wharf battle, since the Powers that Be have shown it while she was away in Happy Endings.
- Cliffhanger: The fic ends with the Dream Stealers magically sapping out Buffy's will to fight and making her their slave with no clear way out for her besides the fact that this fic is clearly titled "Part I".
- Continuity Nod: Buffy remarks that Rose seems to have an easier time trying to find her home dimension compared to Buffy, having first met Rose when she is dimension-hopping as well.
- Late to the Tragedy: Buffy arrives in a hell dimension only to find corpses, not just those of demon's slaves but those of the demons as well. After walking around to see what have happened, she finds the Genesis Ark and has an Oh, Crap! reaction as she hears the Daleks detecting her.
- Made a Slave: The fic ends with the Dream Stealers taking something from Buffy's soul which makes her compliant as they declare her their slave.
- Oh, Crap!: When she realizes that the culprits behind the lifeless dimension are the Daleks, Buffy freezes in fear and eventually despairs when it's clear there is no way out, at least until her dimension-hopping ring activates Just in Time.
- Out of the Frying Pan: Buffy escapes the Daleks by escaping to another dimension, which is inhabited by Dream Stealers who suck her will and enslave her.
- Think Nothing of It: One of the people Buffy frees in the hell dimensions call her "the greatest hero in existence." Buffy just shrugs and says that's what anyone would do. It helps that she isn't actively looking to free people from hell dimensions and just happens to land there while trying to get home.
- Thwarted Coup de Grâce: Buffy is completely defenseless against the Daleks who are surrounding her and have nothing holding them back from shooting her. Right as the Daleks are firing their beams towards Buffy, her ring activates and sends her to another dimension, saving her life.
