How Jenny Nowhere Solved Her Roommate Problem
is a Rocky Horror Picture Show fanfic that crosses over with the Jenny Everywhere mythos. However, Jenny herself does not appear. Instead, the story features her arch enemy, Jenny Nowhere. She finds herself stuck with two insufferable roommates. That is, until a golden opportunity presents itself.
Tropes:
- Adapted Out: In Revenge of the Old Queen, the titular Queen had a cousin named Lord De Lordy who was next in line to the throne of Transylvania. He is left out of the story to allow Jenny to take over as Queen.
- Ambiguous Situation: Jenny wonders if Ralph and Betty are still conscious as statues or not. The story does not indicate one way or the other.
- Asshole Victim: Downplayed with both Ralph and Betty. Ralph annoys Jenny by often going nude and babbling about his obsessions. Betty only cares about superficial things. But neither deserves their fate.
- The Bad Guy Wins: Jenny is crowned the new Queen of Transylvania, ensuring she will live a life of luxury from now on.
- Bathtub Scene: The story ends with Jenny taking a bath wearing only her new crown while Riff Raff and Magenta attend to her every need.
- Be Careful What You Wish For: Ralph wants to see what it feels like to be a statue but only temporarily. It apparently never occurs to him that Magenta might not change him back.
- Black Comedy: Since the story is told through Jenny's eyes, plot points that would normally be Played for Horror (like the fates of Ralph and Betty) are instead Played for Laughs.
- Brainless Beauty: Betty is described as vain and shallow, with few interests outside of yoga and TikTok. She has never even heard of Rocky Horror. But she is also said to be beautiful, at least as a statue.
- Continuation: The story picks up shortly after the events of the film with Riff Raff and Magenta heading back to Transylvania.
- Crossover: The story crosses over the world of Rocky Horror with Jenny Nowhere, who was created as part of the Jenny Everywhere mythos.
- Dark Fic: The story arguably has a darker tone than both Rocky Horror and most entries in the Jenny Everywhere mythos. It ends with the villains victorious and two innocent people trapped as statues with no hope of escape.
- Did Not Think This Through: Jenny says Riff Raff should have taken Frank's status as sole heir to the throne of Transylvania into account before killing him.
- Disproportionate Retribution: Jenny finds her roommates Ralph and Betty to be annoying and shallow, respectively. So she makes sure they stay petrified.
- Downer Ending: For Ralph and Betty who are now stuck as statues forever.
- Fanboy: Ralph is a Rocky Horror fanatic, having seen the film over 100 times.
- Flat Character: Ralph and Betty are defined solely by their nerdiness and shallowness, respectively.
- Girl-on-Girl is Hot: When Magenta massages Jenny's shoulders, Jenny suggests she go a little lower. Magenta then starts to fondle Jenny's breasts.
- Home Nudist: Ralph claims to be a "casual nudist" and often hangs around the apartment naked.
- Irony: Jenny is indifferent to Rocky Horror, having only seen the film once, whereas Ralph is obsessed with it. Ironically, Jenny ends up spending the rest of her life in the Rocky Horror universe as the Queen of Transylvania.
- Jerkass: Jenny treats both of her roommates with contempt, especially Ralph whom she calls "pathetic".
- Karma Houdini: Jenny gets everything she wants and receives no comeuppance for being complicit in the permanent petrification of Ralph and Betty. Also, Riff Raff and Magenta get away with the murder of Dr. Frank-N-Furter by claiming he died due to an experiment gone wrong.
- Kick the Dog: Jenny silently tells Magenta to petrify Betty just because Betty annoys her.
- Lack of Empathy: Jenny hates her roommates to the point that she has no problem leaving them stuck as statues just to be rid of them.
- Male Frontal Nudity: Jenny notes that she and Betty have become numb to the sight of Ralph's penis.
- Minimalist Cast: The story features only five characters, two of whom get transformed into statues by the end.
- Mythology Gag:
- Ralph and Betty are named for Ralph Hapschatt and Betty Munroe, the couple from the beginning of the film.
- Dr. Frank-N-Furter's mother, the Old Queen, is mentioned. She is taken from the unmade sequel Revenge of the Old Queen.
- The Nudifier: Just like in the film, the Medusa switch makes people's clothes fall off their bodies.
- Oh, Crap!: Jenny is briefly worried that Magenta will petrify her along with her roommates.
- Pragmatic Villainy: The only reason Jenny has not killed Ralph and Betty is because she needs them to help pay the rent. This does not stop her from silently encouraging Magenta to petrify Betty.
- The Sociopath: In keeping with past portrayals, Jenny Nowhere has no conscience or morals to speak of, which makes her perfect to be the new leader of Transylvania according to Riff Raff.
- Taken for Granite: Magenta uses the Medusa switch on Ralph at his request because he wants to see what it feels like to (temporarily) be a statue. Magenta also petrifies Betty when Jenny nods in her direction. Jenny herself almost gets petrified too but Riff Raff intervenes.
- Too Dumb to Live: Ralph requests that Magenta petrify him but only temporarily. Despite having seen Rocky Horror countless times, he apparently forgot that Magenta is a villain and will likely leave him petrified indefinitely.
- Unusually Uninteresting Sight: Betty is upset that she was accidentally taken along for the ride, not caring that she is in a completely different universe. She also does not react when Ralph is turned into a nude statue.
- Unwitting Instigator of Doom: Ralph begs Jenny to shift him into the world of Rocky Horror. This ultimately leads to him becoming a statue along with Betty who was brought with them by accident.
- Villain Protagonist: The story is told from the perspective of Jenny Nowhere, who is callous, rude, amoral and power-hungry.
