Ultraman Ace

Voiced by: Gorō Naya (series; stock grunts afterwards), Keiji Takamine (Ultraman Mebius onwards)

• Action Dad: Of the Godfather variety; Ultraman Z reveals that Ace is Z’s godfather, who christened him both with his name and the title of ‘The Last Hero’, as humans would often use the letter Z to refer to the last of something, and Ace hoped that Z might be able to bring a long-lasting peace to his universe - i.e., a time when heroes were no longer needed as much.
• Badass Cape: After Mega Monster Battle: Ultra Galaxy Legends, it becomes established that Ace and the other Ultra Brothers have access to their own red capes, similar to the ones worn by Father of Ultra and Ultraman King.
• Bash Brothers: With Ultraman Taro, whom he is actually the adopted brother of.
• Blinded by the Light: Can fire stunning flashes of light from his Color Timer by placing his hands over it.
• Chest Blaster: His Timer Shot, fired from his Color Timer, as its name suggests.
• Conveniently an Orphan: His parents were killed a long time ago, so he was instead raised by his father's friend the Father of Ultra.
• Diving Kick: Most of Ace's fights begin with him backflipping through the air, spinning a few times while airborne before landing feet-first into a monster's face.
• Energy Blade: Two of Ace's most iconic non-beam techniques are his standard and vertical Ultra Guillotines, capable of slicing opponents in half with ease. Ace also carries a physical version of this trope in the form of his Ace Blade; while it is as tangible as any Earthly weapon, he fashions it out of a combination of the light of the Sun and his own willpower.
• Fan Nickname: More prominently in Japan, he's been given the Red Baron title of "Guillotine Prince" (ギロチン王子, Girochin Oji) on account of the numerous number of techniques in his arsenal used to slice opponents to pieces.
• Finishing Move: His signature attack is the Metallium Ray.
• Friend to All Children: In most episodes right before his battle against the chojus, Ace deliberately ensures that children won't be in harm's way, picking them up and putting them aside. At the conclusion of his battle against Alien Fire, after his victory, Ace performs a handstand for a little boy who is having trouble at gym class, inspiring the boy to train himself harder.
• Fusion Dance: He can be summoned by Seiji Hokuto and Yuhko Minami touching the Ace Rings together. To date, Ace is by far the only Ultra who has used two hosts simultaneously, due to him choosing to save the life of two humans at once. Or rather, a human, Seiji Hokuto, and a Human Alien named Yuko Minami.
• Good Is Not Soft: Ace and both of his hosts are good people who firmly believe in qualities such as kindness and bravery, and they have a soft spot for children. When fighting the Choju, however, he's relentlessly brutal if he must destroy the enemy, violently dismembering them with his many, many beam techniques.
• Groin Attack: Delivers plenty of crotch-shots to monsters and aliens, once every two or three episodes, mostly by kicking. He also delivers one in energy beam form to Garan once he gains the upper hand in the fight, setting the fish monster's body on fire in the process.
• Hand Blast: Can fire various lesser versions of these.
• Improbable Weapon User: Sometimes Ace will use literally anything he get his hands on to use as weapons, including a telephone tower and trees.
• Playing with Fire: Able to shoot jets of flame from his hands by putting them together.
• Razor-Sharp Hand: Yet another one of Ace's slicing attacks, called the "Ultra Knife", which allows him to chop through monster flesh like jelly.
• Rings of Death: His Ultra Guillotine sometimes manifests as this. Other times, it appears as a long crescent-shaped blade of energy.
• Spell My Name With An S: Also known as Ultraman A in older materials, as his series' title card spells it that way.
• Spontaneous Weapon Creation: His Ace Blade katana, which he can literally pull from out of nowhere by harnessing his own willpower. In stage shows, it takes the form of a Bokuto for safety reasons, but it returns in its original configuration during Ace's reappearance in Ultraman Z.
• Storm of Blades: He can summon a rain of blades to slice up monsters, or half a dozen Ultra Guillotines all at once, as a Finishing Move.
• Sword Beam: Variant. Ace doesn't use a sword, but his Ultra Guillotine functions in the same way as one, chopping up Choju into multiple pieces with gruesome efficiency.
• Warrior Poet: Literally. According to Expanded Universe materials, Ace enjoys writing poetry when he's at home on the Land of Light.

Father of Ultra

Voiced by: Tetsuya Kaji (series), Isamo Tamagawa (series; human form), Shinya Kashima (Ultraman Taro), Tokuma Nishioka (Ultraman Mebius onwards), Masao Nakasone (series with low-pitch grunts)

• Achilles' Heel: He has a scar on his side from his battle with Alien Empera. By striking the scar, Ultraman Belial is able to turn the tide of their fight in his favor, even though Father of Ultra was previously winning against him.
• Action Dad: He's the adoptive father to Ultraman Ace and a metaphorical father to many other heroes, and also the biological dad of Ultraman Taro.
• Always Someone Better: Zigzagged with Belial
  • On the one hand, as shown in the flashback of Ultra Galaxy Fight: The Absolute Conspiracy, the younger Father of Ultra/Ken is shown to be this towards Belial. Not only is he the one who defeats Alien Empera, but he also wins over Marie, who would later become Mother of Ultra, and is chosen as the leader of the Space Garrison, while Belial feels that he was cast aside. Father of Ultra is also one of the very few Ultras who is shown capable of matching, if not overpowering Belial. In Mega Monster Battle: Ultra Galaxy Legends, he's the first Ultra Belial cannot curb-stomp, and Belial only wins by exploiting the scar on Father of Ultra's side, a remnant of a wound inflicted by Empera during the Ultimate Wars.
  • On the other hand, as the franchise goes on, Belial only grows stronger and stronger, to the point of defeating Ultimate Zero just in his base form. It becomes even worse after he gains his Atrocious form in Geed, capable of overpowering Zero Beyond and Geed Royal Mega Master. Even in his weakened state, he's so powerful that the only thing Father of Ultra can do is hold him back to buy the heroes some time, and that doesn't last long.
• Badass Cape: He often wears one, as they're a status symbol on M78. He can use it in combat to great effect as well.
• Badass Santa: During his second visit to Earth (after being brought back to life and recovering from his injuries on M78) he takes the form of a street corner Santa Claus, and even briefly enlarges this disguise when he joins in to help Ace fight Snowgiran.
• Big Good: The leader of the Ultra Space Garrison, with only Ultraman King being more important than him. But whereas King is largely a hermit, the Father is more actively engaged, having fought some of the Ultra Series' most powerful villains to a standstill, and he assigns all the Ultras on missions or to their tours of duty on Earth.
• Can't Catch Up: Once the Always Someone Better to Belial, as the latter grows stronger and stronger thanks to various evil power-ups, Father of Ultra can no longer match Belial's powers, relying on younger Ultras such as Zero and Geed to thwart his evil plans. In Geed, he's so utterly outmatched by Belial Atrocious that he can only hold off the latter to buy the heroes some time to prepare. Even Belial mocks him for this.
  Belial: You've gotten old, Ken. And you... can't stop me.
• Cool Old Guy: He's the grandfather of Ultraman Taiga, one of the newest Ultras from the Reiwa Era.
• A Father to His Men: Part of the reason why he has earned his name of "Father of Ultra".
• Horned Humanoid: His great horns are a rarity amongst Ultramen, though his son Taro inherited them.
• Impossibly Cool Weapon: His Ultra Array, a dumbbell-shaped object capable of emitting blinding flashes of light, as he uses on Alien Hipporito and later Jashrine.
• Not So Stoic: You think he is just a serious father? Think again about his "Eiffel Tower kabe-don" moment with Marie/Mother of Ultra in the Amu Plaza Department Store commercial series (started by his wife).
• Rank Scales with Asskicking: Alien Hipporito is able to take out all the Ultra Brothers, but even while weakened due to various things, the Father of Ultra throws him around like a rag-doll for most of their fight, leaving him weakened enough for Ace to finish off. He is also able to fight Alien Empera to a draw 30,000 years ago, and thrash Ultraman Belial (who had already torn his way through most of the Land of Light) before Belial hits his scar.
• Special Person, Normal Name: In Mega Monster Battle: Ultra Galaxy Legends, his name is revealed to be Ken, although only his Evil Former Friend Ultraman Belial ever calls him that.
• Team Dad: To the Ultra Brothers, which happen to include his son and adopted son.
• Worf Had the Flu: Lost to Alien Hipporito, barely, because he was tired from carrying out the long journey to Earth at full speed to rescue the Ultra Brothers. We find out in later series that if he was at his full power during the fight, Alien Hipporito would've been squashed like a bug.

The Ultra Brothers

Beginning from Ace's series onwards, the Ultramen from previous shows — Ultraman, Zoffy, Ultraseven and Ultraman Jack started making returning appearances, in a way to establish continuity between the series and to indicate that the shows took place in the same canon.The fifth episode, "Giant Ant Terrible-Monster vs. Ultra Brothers" is notably advertised as Zoffy's grand comeback after his previous appearance — the final episode of Ultraman, six years ago. It was also from this point onwards where the term "Ultra Brothers" is used to describe the Showa-Era Ultramen, as a whole.

• Badass in Distress: In two occasions, both which are two-parters where the first ends in a bleak Cliffhanger. Firstly the four of them being crucified on Planet Golgotha and having their powers drained by Yapool, and later getting ambushed and petrified by Alien Hipporito after their attempt to rescue Ace didn't go as planned.
• Big Damn Heroes:
  • Captain Zoffy notably had a bunch of these in the show — he bails his brother, Ace, out of Aribunta's lair when Ace gets trapped by a Descending Ceiling, and later uses the Ultra Magic Ray to assist Ace who is being beaten down by Dreamgillas.
  • Ultraseven arriving to resurrect Ace, recently killed by Firemons, also counts.
• The Bus Came Back: "Decisive Battle! Ace vs. Hideki Go" has Jiro and Rumi from the previous series, Return of Ultraman, coming back. Hideki returns as well, although he was later revealed to be a disguised Alien Antira - and after Alien Antira and his monster, Zaigon, gets killed at the end of the episode, the real Hideki finally shows up in the stars to embrace his friends Rumi and Jiro.
• Commuting on a Bus: The four brothers made a comeback, showing up periodically in a few episodes, usually to assist their brother Ace or simply as a cameo.
• Forced to Watch: The four Ultra brothers must witness the execution of the Ace Robot, a doppelganger of their youngest brother, in the hands of Yapool's minion Ace Killer while crucified.
• Get a Hold of Yourself, Man!: When Earth is under attack from Barabas, just as the brothers are being frozen alive on Golgotha, the first four brothers decide to give Ace their energy in order to escape and defend earth. As Ace insists on staying behind, cue Ultraman giving Ace a wake-up slap.
• Rousing Speech: Sometimes when Ace is on the losing side against the choju, or he's having doubts towards himself, the previous Ultramen will appear to give him a pep talk of sorts. Notably when Ace is being beaten down by Brocken, he sees the Ultra Signs from his four brothers in the stars, at which point Ace then retaliates and slices up Brocken.

• Healing Hands: She can emit powerful healing rays that offsets injuries caused by choju, as seen against Snowgiran.
• Human Aliens: She looks like a human female, but is from the moon. Later in the series she displays abilities to size-shift, breathe in space, heal with her touch, fly, and a few traits she hides in human form.
• Lunarians: Her true origin, a member of a race of aliens hailing from the moon.

Captain Goro Ryu

• Early Installment Character-Design Difference: The first two episodes have Captain Ryu wearing the same uniform as the rest of TAC, as seen to the right. Starting in episode 3, the grey line across his chest is replaced with a darker one, making him stand out from the regular members.

• Bridge Bunnies: Although she's stated to be the second-in-command to Captain Ryu and sometimes joins him in the field, her usual job is this.

Yapool

First Appearance: Shine! The Five Ultra Brothers!

As a sworn enemy of the Ultramen and the very first Big Bad of an Ultra Series installment, Yapool is one of the franchise's most iconic and popular villains and has antagonized not only Ultraman Ace, but many later Ultra heroes like Ultraman Mebius, Ultraman Ginga and Ultraman Decker.

• Arch-Enemy: While he hates all of the Ultramen with burning passion, he reserves the most for Ultraman Ace. Even during his periods of inactivity his Choju carry on his grudge with a burning passion.
• Barrier Warrior: Can create force fields around himself at will.
• The Bad Guy Wins: He is unable to conquer Earth but is ultimately successful in getting revenge on Ace/Seiji Hokuto by making him reveal his secret identity and forcing him to leave his Earth life behind.
• Big Bad: Of Ultraman Ace, as he creates the Choju that Ace has to stop. He's also notable for being the first one created for the Ultra Series.
• Breakout Villain: Yapool has gone on to become an iconic villain in the Ultra Series and quite possibly the most recurring foe of the Ultras. He’s popped up in series such as Ultraman Taro and Ultraman Ginga, and served as a major villain in Ultraman Mebius, Ultra Fight Victory and Ultraman Decker.
• Demonic Possession: One of his favourite abilities is to take over the bodies of humans or his own Choju to control them.
• Dimension Lord: He rules his very own dimension, a sort of formless place of swirling colours. Travel between this dimension and ours can be done by him and all Choju, which is seen as the sky shattering like glass.
• Dragon Ascendant: Later media establishes Yapool as The Dragon to Alien Empera and a member of his army during the invasion of the Land of Light, before striking it out on his own after Empera was defeated.
• Early-Installment Weirdness: The first ten or so episodes of the series depicts Yapool as an alien race from another dimension, before the Retcon stating that Yapool is the embodiment of the collective powers of an interdimensional alien race. The iconic spiky, scythe-handed "giant Yapool" form fans are familiar with doesn't actually appear in the franchise until episode 23, but since then Yapool has been more frequently depicted in the latter form, while the humanoid Yapool men form stopped appearing in the since giant Yapool's introduction. The humanoid "Yapool men" form wouldn't reappear until Ultraman Decker.
• Eldritch Abomination: Yapool normally appears as a formless mass of bright colours, though at one point, he assumes a physical "Giant Yapool" form to battle Ace one-on-one.
• Energy Being: His normal form is a swirling mass of multicolored energy.
• Eternal Villain: No matter how many times the Ultras stop him, Yapool is always able to survive through The Power of Hate and keeps coming back to menace the Earth.
• Evil Genius: Yapool has all sorts of arcane sciences, mysticism and otherworldly forces at his disposal when making monsters.
• Evil Is Hammy: He displays this quality in most of his appearances.
• Evil Sorcerer: Although he usually creates Choju through science, Yapool has displayed a knack for magic, as seen with the creations of Cowra, Mazarius, and Aprasar. Additionally, he's been able to revive others from the dead like Bemstar in Ultraman Taro and Juda in Ultra Fight Victory.
• Fusion Dance: His "Giant Yapool" form was presented as one performed by the Yapool species when it debuted in Episode 23 of the series, but in later shows, it was retconned as his preferred physical form.
• Hand Blast: He can shoot powerful energy beams from his hands in physical form.
• The Heavy: He makes all of the Choju that attack Earth, and also has a set of agents (mostly aliens, plus Mazaronian and Cokes, who are sentient Choju) working under him who serve as the executors of some of his schemes. With the exception of Alien Hipporito and Alien Steal, both of whom are unaffiliated villains, Yapool is the sole main antagonist of Ultraman Ace, and is the first overarching antagonist of the Ultra Series as a whole.
  • He fills this role again in Ultra Fight Victory, where he’s the one coordinating kaiju attacks in his plot to revive Juda.
  • In terms of the Ultra Series as a whole, Yapool is one of the most influential foes of the Ultras, to the degree that his machinations have even extended into series he doesn't personally appear in, like Ultraman X and Ultraman Z.
• Hijacked by Ganon: Quite a few movies and spin-offs like to have Yapool pop up and be revealed as the one behind whoever seemed to be the main antagonist at first.
• Hive Mind: He's actually a being created from the collective consciousness of an alien race, with the various Yapool-Men just being small parts in a much wider superorganism.
• Humanoid Abomination: His "Giant Yapool" form, as depicted above, is a monstrous humanoid alien creature. Later series that feature Yapool typically have him use this form.
• I Am Legion: Yapool sometimes refers himself as "we", due to the retconning that surrounds his origins (see Retcon below for the details).
• Mad Scientist: As the creator of the Choju, he specializes in using highly advanced technology create (or mutate) all sorts of deranged monsters to antagonize Ultra heroes.
• Maker of Monsters: He actively creates Choju to unleash upon Earth and against the Ultras. More than once, the show has given us a glimpse of Yapool's monster-creation facility in his home dimension.
• Manipulative Bastard: Loves to mess around with the emotions of heroes (both Ultras and humans). To him, playing with the emotions of humans is extremely entertaining because he finds them to be pathetic creatures.
• Master of Disguise: Capable of assuming both human and a variety of alien forms whenever he needs to get close to someone.
• Mind Over Matter: Has potent psychic powers, including telekinesis.
• The Power of Hate: Yapool claims in Ultraman Ginga that this is the source of his immortality. He literally wills himself back to life with his own hatred for the Ultras every time they defeat him.
• Resurrective Immortality: Thanks to The Power of Hate, Yapool will always return to life no matter how many times the Ultras defeat and kill him.
• Retcon: He was presented in the series as an entire alien species, but later on, this was changed to Yapool being a singular being formed from the collective consciousness of an alien race.
• Right Hand of Doom: In his physical form, his right arm is a vicious blade.
• Shapeshifter: Likes to take the form of other beings to sneak around unnoticed and befriend others in order to backstab them at the last moment.

Choju in General

• Always Chaotic Evil: One of the main things that makes them different from the monsters, and aliens that came before is that by their very nature they are evil. All them to cause pain, and suffering freely, and happily. The only one to avert this are Cowra, Black Pigeon, Aprasar, and Aquarius, and that is only because of the beings they once were fighting against their Choju influence.
• Bilingual Bonus: "Choju" means "Super-Beast" in Japanese.
• Dimensional Traveler: All Choju are capable of travelling between dimensions, which appears as a chunk of the sky shattering open and revealing Yapool's dimension on the other side.
• Feel No Pain: Ace explains in Ultraman Z that due to being artificial beings, the Choju don't feel anything, which allows them to continue rampaging in spite of all the damage inflicted to them.
• Mix-and-Match Critters: Most, if not all, are created with the combination of an Earth-based creature and an alien monster (Velokron was coral, Brocken was an alligator, Vakishim and Barabas were larva, etc.). Several of them are even created from other kaiju.
• Our Monsters Are Weird: Many of these guys make for some of the weirdest monsters of the entire Ultra Series, with standout examples including Dreamgillas, Soundgillar, Bad Balloon, King Kappa and Geegon. Justified with them being unnatural creatures made by Eldritch Abomination so it makes sense why most of them would be strange.

Verokron

First Appearance: Shine! The Five Ultra Brothers!

As the very first Choju to appear in the Ultra Series, Verokron has made numerous reappearances in later entries of the franchise. With the notable exception of Ultraman Taro, all of Verokron's reappearances are based on the first version of the monster rather than the less popular second version.

• Achilles' Heel: The inside of its mouth. Considering that Verokron packs a lot of missiles in its mouth it makes sense shooting into it would hurt like hell
• Art Evolution: The second Verokron design used in Verokron's reappearance looks almost nothing like the original Verokron. This version has a longer tail, is green instead of black, and has coral across the whole back instead of just the shoulders. Justified by the fact that Yapool created a completely new Verokron instead of resurrecting the original.
• Breakout Villain: As the very first Choju to appear in the Ultra Series, Verokron is Ultraman Ace's most iconic enemy.
• Breath Weapon: A stream of flames in many appearances. The second Verokron also breathes weakening bubbles.
• Chest Blaster: The second Verokron fires its missiles solely from its chest (and mouth).
• Faking the Dead: Fakes being dead after being shot by Seiji and then uses the opportunity to shoot his plane out of the sky.
• Hand Blast: Verokron can fire a huge variety of energy bolts and missiles from its hands, as well as a binding rope of energy.
• Macross Missile Massacre: Verokron's signature ability is the Zanmestro Attack, in which it fires the innumerable supply of missiles hidden in its coral body en masse at enemies.
• Our Monsters Are Weird: Pretty much all Choju are an example, and Verokron is just the first taste — a dinosaur made of coral that shoots missiles from its body.
• Shock and Awe: Several of Verokron's appearances have displayed the ability to shoot lightning bolts from various places like the hands and nose.
• Spell My Name With An S: Also called Velokron.
• Starter Villain: The very first Choju in the Ultra Series and thus Ultraman Ace's first enemy.
• Starter Villain Stays: Re-appears later on to haunt Ultraman Ace as his iconic enemy.

Chameleking

First Appearance: Surpass the Choju

• An Arm and a Leg: Ace tears off Chameleking's wings during the battle.
• Blow You Away: As a flying Choju, it creates massive hurricane-forced winds by flapping its wings.
• Breath Weapon: A blast of misty white gas, though we never get to see what it does exactly.
• Clip Its Wings: What Ace does to its wings.
• Giant Flyer: In both egg form and adult form.
• Hybrid Monster: Yapool created Chameleking from two separate monsters - a pterodactyl monster from outer space and an ancient chameleon monster.
• Our Dragons Are Different: Strongly resembles a western-style dragon, though it also borrows chameleon motifs as seen in its name and eyes.
• Make My Monster Grow: Chameleking's egg grows in size by absorbing matter, including people, an airplane, and a second egg that Yapool sends out, which allows the egg to grow from 2 meters to 20 meters and for the monster to hatch out as an adult.
• Teleport Spam: The egg is capable of this to escape TAC's attacks.

Vakishim

First Appearance: Burn! Choju Hell!

Voiced by: Hirofumi Takada, Hitoshi Takahashi (human form)

As one of the most iconic Choju in the show, Vakishim has reappeared many more times in the Ultra Series, usually alongside the equally famous Velokron and Doragory. Vakishim is often possessed by its master Yapool in many of its reappearances in homage to the notoriously disturbing events of its debut episode.

• Acrofatic: Despite Vakishim's tubby design, it is very capable of impressive jumps and swift reflexes.
• Big Entrance: Makes its debut by shattering the sky to create a portal, an entrance so impressive that other Choju in later series would reuse this effect.
• Breakout Villain: One of Ultraman Ace's most iconic enemies and the first of the Choju trio return in Ultraman Mebius.
• Creepy Child: It disguises itself as a very murderous young boy.
• Dead Person Impersonation: The boy that it takes the form of to slaughter people is revealed at the end to have died several years ago.
• Hand Blast: Is able to shoot laser bullets from its hands (though similar projectiles come from its nostrils).
• Horn Attack: The horn can be launched as a targeting missile. Depending on the series, Vakishim can regenerate the horn as well.
• Kick the Dog: Murders an old couple for no reason other than they outlived their usefulness in the form of their grandson while calling them fools for their kindness.
• Off with His Head!: Its fate.
• Playing with Fire: Can shoot a stream of flame from its hands.
• Retcon: Vakishim was stated in the series to be a form that Yapool assumed to battle Ace, but this was later changed to Yapool actually possessing Vakishim and controlling its body.
• Spell My Name With An S: Sometimes more literally translated as Bakushim.

Garan

First Appearance: 30 000 Year Choju Appears

• An Arm and a Leg: Ace blows off one of his arms.
• Art Initiates Life: The artist can draw and erase Garan as he pleases to summon and call back the Choju.
• Blinded by the Light: Garan can emit explosive flashes of blinding light from the tip of its snout.
• Breath Weapon: A very unique one. Garan can spray out a white gas that dissolves non-living things into gas that the Choju then consumes.
• Humans Are the Real Monsters: It was an innocent animal that was turned into a monster and controlled by the hatred and obsession of Mushitaro.
• Prehistoric Monster / Sea Monster: Yapool created Garan from a species of prehistoric fish.

Aribunta

First Appearance: Giant Ant Choju vs. Utra Brothers

Aribunta is not as well-known as Vakishim, Verokron, or Doragory, but has become fairy popular in its own rights, earning the giant ant Choju reappearances in later series like Ultra Fight Victory, Ultraman Orb, Ultraman R/B, Ultraman Taiga, and Ultraman Decker.

• Antlion Monster: Despite being based on ants and not antlions, Aribunta can create sand pits to drag people underground.
• Big Creepy-Crawlies: Based on ants. Furthermore, it's implied that Yapool took an ant kaiju previously encountered by another defense team and further mutated the creature as TAC apparently has records of giant ant monsters.
• Breakout Villain: In the 2010s, starting with Ultra Fight Victory, Aribunta started to get his fair share of reappearances thanks to a brand new suit being constructed for him, meaning that he's joined the ranks of other iconic monsters and aliens introduced in this series such as Verokron, Vakishim, Lunaticks and Alien Hipporit (and of course, Yapool himself).
• Breath Weapon: Aribunta can spray out a stream of nasty acid from its mandibles known as the Formic Acid Spray. One of them dissolved an entire subway of people in its first appearance, leaving only skeletons.
• Meaningful Name: Aribunta's name is a combination of "ari" (Japanese for "ant") and "marabunta" (a Latin American name for army ants).
• Playing with Fire: Can shoot streams of fire from its claws.
• Put Their Heads Together: With Giron Man, which is how Ultraman Ace and Zoffy kill them.
• Tunnel King: A very capable burrower, creating an enormous complex of tunnels underneath the city to be used as Giron Man's hideout.

Brocken

First Appearance: Pursue the Mystery of the Transformation Choju

• An Arm and a Leg: It tries snatching Hokuto with it's right pincers, just as Hokuto managed to transform into Ultraman Ace. The resulting energy wave severs Brocken's entire arm from the shoulder (it briefly returns in a minor continuity error).
• Beard of Evil: A little less jarring than a mouth and eye on each hand is Brocken giving Koyama a beard. Once Brocken is defeated Koyama is clean shaven.
• Body Horror: Applies to humans possessed by Brocken. An eye and a mouth will grow on each hand, for starters.
• Breath Weapon: Snorts fire. Additionally, those possessed by Brocken can breathe white mist from the mouths on their hands.
• Casts No Shadow: When Koyama is possessed by Brocken, his shadow disappears. It returns at the end of the episode after Ace destroys Brocken.
• Colossal Croc: It was created by fusing a crocodile with spores from space, inflating the creature into a towering behemoth.
• Conspicuous Gloves: The possessed Koyama wears gloves at all times to conceal the faces on his hands. His son starts to find them suspicious when he even wears them to bed.
• Demonic Possession: Brocken takes over the body of an astronaut named Koyama. However, the possessed victim has an eye and a mouth on each of his hands and will cast no shadow, which his son discovers and reports to TAC.
• Eyes Do Not Belong There: Look closely at those two tails. Those are actually extra eyes on long stalks. Additionally, Brocken's claws each have one eye above them — a trait shared by those possessed by the Choju.
• Glowing Eyes of Doom: Not in its choju form, but on Brocken's human host. Seconds before his transformation, Koyama's eyes glows bright orange.
• Meaningful Name: Brocken is named after the Brocken Spectre Phenomenon, where shadows play tricks on the human mind into believing they're seeing gigantic monsters. Rather fitting for a choju whose host literally lose his shadow.
• Off with His Head!: Ultraman Ace kills him by chopping it off, along with his hands and and eyestalks.
• Shock and Awe: Shoots lightning from its twin eyestalks and mouth-hands.
• Too Many Mouths: Brocken's hands have mouths — something that transfers to those it possesses.

Doragory

First Appearance: Kaiju vs. Choju vs. Seijin

Well-remembered for his brutal power, Doragory is the third and final introduced of Ultraman Ace's iconic Choju Terrible Trio (the other two being Vakishim and Velokron) to be introduced. Like them, Doragory has returned many times in the Ultra Series to menace new generations of heroes.

• Breakout Villain: Along with Vakishim and Velokron, Doragory is considered to be one of Ultraman Ace's most iconic foes and frequently reappears against other Ultra heroes.
• Breath Weapon: Fire, red lightning, or purple orbs of energy depending on the series.
• Disproportionate Retribution: Muruchi II's punishment for accidentally ramming into Doragory? One of the most gruesome deaths in the franchise ever.
• Dumb Muscle: Considered one of the greatest Choju in terms of sheer physical strength, as it is able to rip weaker monsters into shreds, but is also considered one of the less intelligent Choju.
• Eye Beams: Fires red lightning bolts from its eyes.
• Hand Blast: Doragory is able to fire energy missiles from its hands.
• Kick the Dog: Kills Muruchi II very horrifically, even though the kaiju only wanted to help Metron Jr. and Doragory.
• Macabre Moth Motif: Although the only obvious insectoid quality in Doragory is the compound eyes, Doragory is based on a poisonous moth as evidenced by its Boss Subtitles "Moth Super-Beast".
• Off with His Head!: His death.
• Spell My Name With An S: Doragoris and Dragory are also used.
• Super-Strength: Enough to rip weaker monsters to shreds and overwhelm Ultraman Ace in their first fight.
• Torso with a View: Ultraman Ace manages to punch a hole straight through Doragory's body in their final fight.

Gammas

First Appearance: 10 000 Choju! Surprise Attack Plan!

• Breath Weapon: Spits explosive darts.
• Bullet Catch: Was able to catch the missiles fired by TAC from their planes, and actually hurl them back at the aircraft. Ace does the same with his mouth darts.
• Deadly Disc: Gammas is able to create razor discs from its body and toss them at foes.
• Double Weapon: Yapool creates a two-headed spear for Gammas during its battle with Ultraman Ace.
• Impaled with Extreme Prejudice: Gammas' fate.
• Invisibility: One of its powers.
• Ninja: Its Boss Subtitles are "Ninja Super-Beast", although other than having abilities that enhance its elusiveness, it doesn't have much in common with ninjas.
• Our Monsters Are Weird: Even by the standards of this show, Gammas is one freaky beast.
• Phantom-Zone Picture: Gammas' signature ability is to hide inside photographs, allowing it to completely conceal itself from TAC and make surprise attacks as it wishes.
• Smoke Out: Does this during his fight with Ace, disappearing briefly in a puff of smoke.

Zaigon

First Appearance: Battle! Ace vs. Hideki Goh!

• Breath Weapon: Breathes fire.
• Bull Seeing Red: Although based on a rhino, Zaigon is easily provoked by the colour red and Ultraman Ace even plays a bit of "matador" with the Choju.
• Informed Ability: Both Yapool and Alien Antira say that he's invincible, but he goes down pretty easily with a simple slash attack.
• Off with His Head!: How Ultraman Ace kills it.
• Red Herring: Antira used Zaigon as one for TAC so they wouldn't pay attention to his attempts to kill Hokuto and Minami in his Goh disguise.
• Rhino Rampage: Although he doesn't look the part, Zaigon is modeled after rhinoceroses (with some bull thrown in). Case in point, its Boss Subtitles is "Rhino Super-Beast"

Unitang

First Appearance: The Choju is Ten Women?

Played by: Setsuko Minami (also human form actress)

• Breath Weapon: Breathes sticky webbing, though it also sprays the same stuff from its claws.
• Horn Attack: Like Vakishim, Unitang can launch its horn like missile. It can also create explosions by flashing its horn. Also, the horn is the leader of the collective consciousness of the monster. Did we mention this one is weird?
• I Am Legion: A weird example of this trope. Each of the 10 women makes up a body part for Unitang that combined into the titular monster.
• I'm Melting!: Ultraman Ace defeats Unitang by dissolving it with acid.
• Mind Control: In its 10 girls form, Unitang does this to Hokuto by placing a device on his neck.
• Multiboobage: Her choju form has eight breasts.
• Our Monsters Are Weird: This creatures is as off-the-walls bonkers as its ability to become 10 girls sounds, complete with some wacky moments between Hokuto and the women.
• Projectile Webbing: She has the ability to fire sticky threads from her mouth. Which can explode after ensnaring targets.
• Pulling Themselves Together: Ultraman Ace finds this out when he chops Unitang to pieces.
• Spider People: Her insectoid appearance, large fangs with the ability to shoot webbing and limbs resembling insect appendages gives her an arachnid-esque appearance. Some dubs (like the Cantonese version) even calls her the "Spider-Choju".
• Voluntary Shapeshifting: Can transform itself into 10 pretty, young, bike-riding women, who are able to do a Fusion Dance to turn back into their Choju form.

Sabotendar

First Appearance: The Red Flower of Cactus Hell

• Breath Weapon: It has two — a stream of fire and a spray of acid.
• Cactus Person: It's a giant, roughly humanoid cactus kaiju with the ability to turn into a regular succulent, Spike Shooter powers, and a prehensile tongue. It can also curl itself into a massive spiked ball to execute a spiked Rolling Attack.
• Half the Man He Used to Be: Ace slices Sabotendar up when the monster rolls up into its ball form.
• Meaningful Name: Derived from "saboten", which is Japanese for "cactus".
• Overly Long Tongue: Which it uses to ensnare Ultraman Ace during their fight. Ace managed to sever the tongue with his dual palm laser.
• Rolling Attack: Sabotendar can curl itself into a spikey ball to fly and bash enemies.
• Spell My Name With An S: Sabotendar or Sabotender?
• Spike Shooter: As is expected for a cactus-themed monster, Sabotendar can launch its thorns as explosive missiles.
• To Serve Man: Eats a couple of humans when it is disguised as a regular cactus.
• Voluntary Shapeshifting: It can transform itself into a small cactus. However, in this form, Sabotendar will consume living food it's given such as insects.

Baraba

First Appearance: Execution! The Five Ultra Brothers!

• Blinded by the Light: Can create paralyzing flashes of light from the sword-horn on its head
• Breath Weapon: Breathes fire.
• Epic Flail: Its right hand.
• Family-Unfriendly Death / Cruel and Unusual Death: Ace kills Baraba by first stabbing it with its sword and then punching the monster so hard its eyes pop from its sockets before tearing off its scythe hand and using it to chop off its head!
• Grappling-Hook Gun: In its flail hand.
• Hoist by His Own Petard: His ultimate fate, where he gets impaled by his own sword and decapitated by his own scythe courtesy of Ace.
• Hook Hand: Its right hand is a spiked ball tipped with a grappling hook, while its left hand is a scythe-like weapon.
• Horn Attack: Baraba has a sword-shaped horn on its head that it can shoot like a missile or use as a blade.
• Kick the Dog: When he first shows up he murders a child right in front of his little brother.
• Meaningful Name: Baraba is named after Barabbas, an insurrectionary mentioned in the Bible as having been freed by Pontius Pilate over Jesus Christ at his crucifixion. The name vaguely references this story with Ace being forced to go back to Earth to deal with him instead of saving his brothers from being crucified, only to abandon the fight and return for a second battle to finish him off after Ace Killer is taken down.
• Off with His Head!: What finally, finally, finally took him down.
• Prehensile Tail: Baraba has a three-pronged tail that it uses to strangle Ace in their battle.
• Rasputinian Death: His over-the-top eventual demise, which is enough to kill a regular monster multiple times over; after a violent thrashing from Ace, he ends up getting impaled by his own sword, having his eyes ripped out his socket, and finally getting decapitated.
• Spell My Name With An S: Has also been spelled Barabas, Barabbas, and Barabba. Additionally, some merchandise have mistakenly called the monster Varava due to the "B-V" confusion that exists in the Japanese language.
• Throwing Your Sword Always Works: Baraba attempted to use this against Ace by firing its sword horn at him, but it ended up being used against him when Ace caught the blade and threw it back into its chest, beginning its Rasputinian Death.
• Visual Pun: Appropriately for a Choju appearing in an episode themed after the Passion of Christ, Baraba gets killed by Ace using its own sword and scythe against it. In other words, it lived by the sword, and died by the sword.

Ace Killer

First Appearance: The Five Stars that Scattered Through the Galaxy

An iconic opponent of Ultraman Ace, Ace Killer has reappeared many times in the Ultra Series. However, the wicked Choju has been constantly remade by Yapool and the show's producers to defeat the incumbent Ultra hero with the powers of the Ultramen, so Ace Killer has gone under several renames like Mebius Killer and Victory Killer.

• Breakout Villain: Not as much as Vakishim, Verokron, or Doragory, but Ace Killer is quite a popular Choju often pitted against later generations of Ultra heroes.
• Cyborg: You can't really tell from looking at it, but Ace Killer is confirmed by magazines from the period to be heavily robotic. Specifically, it was modified from an alien corpse that Yapool discovered on Golgotha and brought back to life. Whether subsequent Ace Killers featured in the franchise are also cyborgs - or all-out robots - hasn't really been explained.
• Evil Knockoff: Meant to resemble a demonic Ultraman, as it specifically exists to kills Ultra heroes.
• Glowing Eyes of Doom: Its only real facial features are its bright green eyes.
• The Juggernaut: Since it was made specifically to kill Ultras, Ace Killer is highly resistant to all but the most powerful of Ultraman beam attacks
• Names to Run Away from Really Fast: Never mess with a Choju with the last name Killer.
• Noun Verber: Victory, Mebius, Ace. You name the Ultra, Killer will be upgraded to defeat it.
• Power Copying: Ace Killer has no powers of its own (asides the usual Choju abilities like dimensional travel), but instead has the powers of various Ultramen, usually the one it's been designed to slay, but in its original appearance, Yapool gives it the powers of the first four Ultramen against Ace's.
• Power Parasite: Steals the powers of the first four Ultra Brothers by absorbing them through its "Colour Timer". In the case of Ultraman Jack, Ace Killer simply steals his Ultra Bracelet instead.
• Right Hand of Doom: The huge claws on the left hand.
• Shoulders of Doom: He wears spiked pauldrons on both shoulders in all of his appearances.

King Crab

First Appearance: Curse of the Black Crab

Voiced by: Mahito Tsujimura

• Arch-Enemy: A normal horseshoe crab that attempts to warn humanity of its corrupted relative’s impending attacks.
• Attack the Tail: When King Crab is on the receiving end of a No-Holds-Barred Beatdown by Ace, the monster tries retaliating by using its tail to strangle Ace. But Ace simply creates an energy drill with his hands and shreds King Crab's entire tail into bits.
• Giant Enemy Crab: Doesn't look much like one, but is based on crustaceans and horseshoe crabs (although the latter are actually more closely related to spiders).
• Making a Splash: King Crab can spray extremely slimy seawater that is capable of damaging power lines.
• Playing with Fire: Can shoot a jet of flames from its forehead.
• The Power of Hate: Yapool created King Crab by using an ordinary horseshoe crab's hatred for humans.
• Prehensile Tail: Possess a long and powerful tail lined with spines, using it to throttle Ultraman Ace.
• Sea Monster: Since it's based on crustaceans, King Crab first surfaces from the ocean to destroy an oil refinery.
• Tail Slap: Thanks to its ridiculously long tail.
• Voluntary Shapeshifting: Can turns itself into a horseshoe crab.

Cowra

First Appearance: Monster Story: Cow God Man

Played by: Keizo Kanie

• Bull Seeing Red: Ultraman Ace plays a bit of "matador" with this guy during their fight.
• Horn Attack: Other than the obvious goring attacks, Cowra can shoot a purple laser from between its horns.
• Master of Illusion: Can create hallucinations to confuse enemies.
• Our Minotaurs Are Different: It's a cow Choju; what did you think?
• Super Spit: Has acidic saliva.
• To Serve Man: Gorges himself on a few people during his rampage
• Was Once a Man: Used to be an ordinary farmer named Takai, who was first turned into a Minotaur-like creature by Yapool before becoming Cowra. This is due to the curse Yapool placed on a nose ring Takai stole from a sacred hilltop, which Cowra wears on its arm.

Hotarunga

First Appearance: Ghost Story: The She-Devil of Firefly Field

• Acid Attack: Hotarunga can spray a highly acidic mist from its forehead. The mist also has explosive and suffocating properties for a good measure, but TAC blasts the monster's forehead to give Ace a much-needed upper hand.
• Beware My Stinger Tail: Uses its tail to paralyze Ace during their fight and was about the finish Ace luckily TAC had his back.
• Big Creepy-Crawlies: Inspired by fireflies.
• Blinded by the Light: Being a firefly-based monster, Hotarunga can emit stunning flashes of light from its body to incapacitate opponents.
• Meaningful Name: "Hotaru" means "firefly" in Japanese.

Black Pigeon

First Appearance: Lend Me the Pigeon

• Alas, Poor Villain: As an ordinary animal beloved by a child, Black Pigeon's death actually saw little celebration as Kojiro remains dead after the Choju turns to normal upon defeat.
• Attack Reflector: Black Pigeon is able to bounce beam attacks of its body by using its own chest.
• Blow You Away: As with most flying monsters, Black Pigeon can create huge gales from the flaps of its wings.
• Breath Weapon: Asides from the jets of flame common to Yapool's Choju, Black Pigeon can spit some kind of white paralytic substance, which might be a mutated form of pigeon milk.
• Giant Flyer: As to be expected from a bird Choju.
• Music Soothes the Savage Beast: Due to originally being a pet, Black Pigeon is pacified by the sound of its owner's pigeon whistle, which ends up hindering Yapool's attempts to get Black Pigeon to do his bidding.
• Pesky Pigeons: Being a pigeon monster, though somewhat more sympathetic due to the circumstances of its creation and defeat.
• Spike Shooter: Black Pigeon's got a single massive spike on its chest that can be fired like a missile.
• Tragic Monster: One of the few Choju to be treated with pity due to its connection with its former human owner. The fact that it doesn't get turned back into Kojiro to live the rest of its days as normal makes it even sadder.

King Kappa

First Appearance: Mystery of the Kappa's Residence

• Achilles' Heel: Since it's a kappa monster, King Kappa needs to have water in its head at all times or else it will die.
• Breath Weapon: Breathes a white mist of unknown properties.
• Composite Character: While based on kappas, its ability to eat kids' navels is taken from Raijū, who were known to eat the uncovered navels of children.
• Half the Man He Used to Be: After Ultraman Ace drains all the water from its head depression.
• Hand Blast: Able to fire energy bullets from its fingertips.
• Kappa: Obviously.
• No Ontological Inertia: After Ultraman Ace defeats King Kappa, everyone who lose their bellybuttons gets it back.
• Our Monsters Are Weird: We are dealing with a youkai-based monster that disguises itself as a swimming pool to kidnap kids, eat their bellybuttons, and turn them into kappas with the help of an android couple. Definitely one of Yapool's weirder schemes.
• Ridiculously Human Robots: It has two human-looking robot servants who attempt to get kids into the pool so they can be kidnapped.
• Voluntary Shapeshifting: King Kappa can disguise itself as a swimming pool, thanks to its water-filled depression.

Zemistlar

First Appearance: The Star of Youth, the Star of a Couple

• Big Creepy-Crawlies: A cicada monster, which is largely evidenced by its Boss Subtitles of "Giant Cicada Super-Beast".
• Blade Below the Shoulder: Zemistlar possesses a pair of mantis-like claws that it can use to slash at foes.
• Breath Weapon: Able to spit fire from its proboscis.
• Gravity Master: Yapool used Zemistlar's ability to manipulate gravity in order to levitate ships helplessly into the air.
• Spell My Name With An S: Also called Zemistar and Zemistiar.

Aprasar

First Appearance: I Saw the Phantom of a Heavenly Woman!

Played by: Junko Hitomi (human form actress)

• Blow You Away: Can conjure powerful winds by using her robes like the wings of flying kaiju.
• Clothing Combat: Aprasar uses her orange robes to great effect in combat, including lashing them out as a rope to grab enemies. Furthermore, the silks in her robes can entangle small objects that get caught in them.
• Human Aliens: Her true form, or how she looked before Yapool turned her into a Choju.
• Intangibility: Able to make herself ghostly so those who try to strike her will simply pass through her.
• Light 'em Up: The crest of her head can fire a hailstorm of explosive bullets of light.
• Meaningful Name: Aprasar is named after the Apsaras, a race of beautiful female spirits in Indian mythology who were imported to Japan with the spread of Buddhism, becoming known as Ten'nyo. Her Boss Subtitles is even "Ten'nyo Super-Beast".
• Spell My Name With An S: Also called Aprasall.
• Tragic Villain: Saved from her doomed homeworld by Yapool (who was the one responsible for its destruction in the first place) and then turned into one of his minions against TAC. Luckily Ace manages to save her from Yapool's control and brings her to a new homeworld to live the rest of her life in peace.

Black Satan

First Appearance: Yapool, Demon of Revenge

• Achilles' Heel: Black Satan will be vastly weakened if Space Mask's controlling bracelet is destroyed.
• Beware My Stinger Tail: Able to fire the harpoon-shaped tip of its tail like a missile.
• Breath Weapon: Breathes a white gas that causes stuff to explode.
• Cyclops: Has a single yellow eye.
• Eye Beams: Technically "Eye Beam", but it's a purple laser with electrical properties.
• Golem: Unlike most other Choju, Black Satan was a statue brought to life by an alien in the service of Yapool.
• Hand Blast: Can fire organic missiles from his fingertips that cause massive explosions on impact.
• Kill It with Fire: Ultraman Ace defeats Black Satan by soaking the Choju in gasoline and then setting it on fire.
• Living Statue: His initial form, until Black Mask enlarges him to kaiju size.
• Names to Run Away from Really Fast: A name so terrifying that Tsuburaya Productions recycled it for a monster in Fireman and the Kamen Rider franchise would later use it for the evil organization in Kamen Rider Stronger.

Mazarius

First Appearance: Behold! A Great Transformation at Midnight!

• Achilles' Heel: The only way to defeat Mazarius is to destroy the cursed gemstone that created it, which will lift Yoshiko from Yapool's curse and cause Mazarius to cease to exist.
• Breath Weapon: Breathes a cloud of white smoke.
• Fetus Terrible: Befitting of one of the most nightmarish episodes of the show, Mazarius is an unborn baby transformed by Yapool into a monster while still inside its pregnant mother, so she becomes the life source of a monster.
• Intangibility: The creature itself is permanently intangible as its life force is linked to that of Yoshiko.
• Mystical Pregnancy: Created from a very horrific example even more disturbing than it sounds. Yapool uses a magic gemstone to place a curse on Yoshiko that turned her unborn child into a giant monster and Yoshiko herself into Mazarius' life source.
• Ret-Gone: Mazarius is eventually erased from existance after Yapool's curse is broken.

Mazaronian

First Appearance: Behold! A Great Transformation at Midnight!

Voiced by: Rituso Sawa

• Hand Blast: Can shoot beams from the tips of his fingers, as well as combined them to create an explosive punch.
• Made of Evil: One of a few Choju stated to have been created directly from Yapool's own hatred of the Ultras, with a combination of Mount Fuji's magma for a good measure.
• Magma Man: Mazaronian was created from lava, and his Boss Subtitles is "Magma Super-Man".

Sphinx

First Appearance: The Pyramid is the Choju's Nest

• Beware My Stinger Tail: Sphinx has two snakes in place of tails that allow it to attack enemies when not facing them directly.
• Blinded by the Light: Sphinx's cobra headdress can create powerful flashes of agonizing light.
• Mummy: Keeping with the Egypt theme of the Choju, Sphinx is undead, with its design taking inspiration from the sarcophagi of pharaohs.
• Music Soothes the Savage Beast: The Sphnix can be pacified by a soothing musical tune played by the good Orion alien girl. It doesn't last, however, as the good Orion alien is quickly executed by her master for her betrayal.
• Off with His Head!: Ultraman Ace lops of Sphinx's head in battle, but the creature simply continues to run about like a headless chicken due to its undead physiology.
• Our Sphinxes Are Different: In this case, they're undead kaiju created by an Eldritch Abomination long ago to help alien invaders conquer Earth.
• Playing with Fire: Shoots a stream of flames from the cobra on its headdress.
• Sealed Evil in a Can: Was slumbering inside the same pyramid as Alien Orion.

Lunaticks

First Appearance: Farewell Yuko, Sister of the Moon!

Although nowhere nears as recognizable as Vakishim, Verokron, or Doragory, Lunaticks is one of the most important Choju in the series due to the impact of its debut episode on the show's formula, and consequently, the monster has reappeared many times in the Ultra Series.

• Arch-Enemy: Of Yuko Minami, for destroying her ancestors' homeworld.
• Breakout Villain: Although not as immensely popular as Vakishim, Verokron, and Doragory, Lunaticks has been appeared just as often as they have since their returns in Ultraman Mebius. Its weirdness certainly helps with its memorability.
• Breath Weapon: Two actually. The first is a standard flame breath and the second is poisonous white gas.
• Eye Scream: An incredibly weird variation. Lunaticks' eyes can be fired straight from their sockets like missiles. Don't worry though, Lunaticks can regenerate them instantly to launch a rapid succession of them.
• Hair-Raising Hare: Yup, Yapool will make anything into a Choju. Not that it detracts from it being an effective threat, though.
• Kill It with Fire: Its death.
• Magma Man: Drinks lava.
• A Molten Date with Death: Ace kills the choju by dunking it headfirst into a pool of lava.
• Moon Rabbit: Based on the Eastern legend, with the twist being that Lunaticks had actually destroyed the Moon's civilization long ago.
• Our Monsters Are Weird: A giant rabbit that eats lava and shoots its eyeballs like missiles?
• Overly Long Tongue: Which acts as a tube for sucking up magma.
• Punny Name: Lunaticks is a Moon-themed rabbit Choju whose concept could only have been conceived by lunatics.
• Spell My Name With An S: Lunaticks or Lunatyx? It seems to have settled on the former name.
• Tunnel King: As a monster that feeds on lava, Lunaticks is capable of burrowing about.

Gitagitanga

First Appearance: The Sixth Ultra Brother

• Expy: Gitagitanga's head was modeled after that of Giradorus from Ultraseven, being another tunneling monster.
• Made of Explodium: While Defeat Equals Explosion applies to 99% of monsters throughout the franchise, Gitagitanga took it to the extreme by exploding after being thrown atop a building. It's one of the few monsters who blows up despite not being hit by beam-related or missile attacks.
• Poisonous Person: The horns of Gitagitanga's head spray a poisonous white gas that intoxicates those who inhale it, allowing the monster to easily destroy its surroundings. They also have explosive properties.
• Tunnel King: Being in the service of Undergroundmon makes Gitagitanga a proficient burrower. Its Boss Subtitles is even "Subterranean Super-Beast".

Red Jack

First Appearance: The Ultra Star That Even You Can See

• Breath Weapon: Breathes fire.
• Hand Blast: Able to fire electrical beams of energy from its palms by putting them together.
• Smoke Out: Red Jack's signature ability is to conjure a cloud of black smoke that allows it to vanish and reappear as it wills. The Choju's Boss Subtitles is even "Black Cloud Super-Beast".

Baktari

First Appearance: From Seven to the Hand of Ace

• Acid Attack: Able to spray acid from the bulbous tube-like organ above its head.
• Meaningful Name: Baktari's name is derived from "Baku", a creature from Japanese folklore said to resemble a tapir.
• Playing with Fire: Can shoot fire from its claws.
• Synchronization: Injuries that Baktari sustains as a Choju carry on in tapir form, notably a bandaged shoulder. This allows TAC to eventually track down the monster to the local zoo where they try to kill the tapir. Fortunately, Ultraseven arrives to help Ace restore the tapir to normal.
• Voluntary Shapeshifting: Can switch between tapir and Choju form as it pleases.

Cokes

First Appearance: With a Prayer Upon the Ultra Star

Portrayed by: Hitoshi Takahashi (human form)

• An Arm and a Leg: Ace defeats Cokes by ripping off both of its arms.
• Brown Note: Cokes' signature ability is to emit a flash of sound that disrupts human brainwaves, confusing the enemy and disorienting their senses. It was this ability that it used to get Hokuto into trouble.
• Creepy Child: Cokes' human form, Akira Hoshino.
• Hand Blast: Able to shoot red laser bullets from its hands, although similar projectiles are fired from its forehead as well.
• It Can Think: Unlike almost every other Choju so far (with the sole exception of Mazaronian), Cokes is fully sentient, as it interacts with the human characters quite normally in its human form (unlike Vakishim's human form, who simply went on a vicious killing spree) and actually launches its attack on TAC by piloting a spaceship. Its Boss Subtitles "Humanoid Super-Beast" further support this.

Bad Baalon

First Appearance: Shoot Down that Hot-Air Balloon!

• Balloon of Doom: It's a man-eating balloon-like Choju whose main power is to disguise itself as a normal hot-air balloon.
• Beware the Silly Ones: It's a weird balloon-based monster that looks like a fat elephant cyclops. It also has one of the more horrifying powers among Choju, preying exclusively on children's emotions and draining their lively joy until they're almost catatonic.
• Breath Weapon: Can fire some kind of white mist from its trunk.
• Bread, Eggs, Breaded Eggs: Ace likes decapitating monsters, or halving them. Bad Baalon is decapitated and then halved.
• Cyclops: Has only a single red eye.
• Emotion Eater: Bad Baalon feeds on children's sense of fun, leaving them as joyless zombies. Disturbingly, the parents of its victims found this to be an improvement over their usual rowdy selves and set up campaigns rallying for the balloon to come to their neighbourhoods.
• Half the Man He Used to Be: Sliced in half with Ace's Ultra Guillotine, releasing hundreds of normal balloons and all the consumed children when it falls apart.
• Living Gasbag: A sentient hot-air balloon that is alive and can transform into a monster.
• Monster Clown: In keeping with the balloon motif, its true form has elements of this, being a brightly-coloured, rotund creature with horns resembling a jester cap.
• No Ontological Inertia: The children who lose their emotions to Bad Baalon gains them back after Ace defeats the monster.
• Off with His Head!: Ace slices its head off, before bisecting it vertically.
• Our Monsters Are Weird: This show is full of crazy kaiju, but Bad Baalon is a good contender for being among the craziest. It's a man-eating hot-air balloon, for crying out loud!
• Spell My Name With An S: Also called Bad Baron and Bad Balloon.
• Voluntary Shapeshifting: Can transform into a perfectly normal hot-air balloon; well, normal until it eats whoever's riding it.

Kaiteigagan

First Appearance: A Choju Dances on an Open Rainbow

• Breath Weapon: Kaiteigagan has no less than three such abilities!
  • Its first Breath Weapon is a simple spray of some kind of misty white gas, which we can presume is poisonous.
  • Breath Weapon #2 is a large multicoloured ray of energy that stuns opponents it hits.
  • Finally, Kaiteigagan possesses a Breath Weapon consisting of hailstorm of purple energy bolts.
• Home Field Advantage: Inverted - it's a water-based choju, but somehow chose to take the fight onto dry land, where Ace doesn't suffer any penalties of fighting underwater and quickly tears Kaiteigagan a new hole. Incidentally, another water-based choju in the following episode (see below) would play this trope straight.
• Sea Monster: An aquatic seashell-based Choju that Yapool sends out to destroy ships.

Dreamgillas

First Appearance: A Gift from Zoffy

• Achilles' Heel: Dreamgillas needs a source of water to sustain itself, such as a lake, so simply draining the water will render the monster powerless.
• Breath Weapon: Dreamgillas is able to spew a nasty red liquid with explosive properties.
• Ear Fins: To complete the monster's seahorse-inspired appearance, Dreamgillas has fins in place of ears.
• Embarrassing Damp Sheets: It's a nightmare that comes into being when Yukio wets the bed, complete with the stains being in the shape of the Choju itself. Yeah, this show is weird, okay?
• Giggling Villain: As if it isn't bizarre enough, Dreamgillas' roar is a series of childish giggling.
• Home Field Advantage: Being a water-based choju fought near a lake, Dreamgillas utilizes the environment to it's advantage by dragging Ultraman Ace underwater, with the fight turning towards the choju's favor until Zoffy drops the Ultra-Array to give Ace some much-needed assistance.
• Living Dream: Specifically formed from the kinds of nightmares that cause kids to pee in their beds.
• Making a Splash: Due to being formed from wet stains on a bed, Dreamgillas not only relies on water to sustain its power, but is able to spray a high-pressure gush of water from its mouth.
• Our Monsters Are Weird: Another contender for most deranged Choju in this series — Dreamgillas is a Living Dream formed from the bedwetting stains of a kid! And even then, just look at that thing!

Soundgillar

First Appearance: This Choju has 10 000 Phones?

• Hand Blast: Soundgillar can fire a variety of energy attacks from its hands, including a blast of shockwaves from its palms and organic missiles from its tube-shaped fingertips.
• Make Some Noise: Soundgillar's specialty. Not only does it sustain itself through loud noises, but it is able to spontaneously manifest wherever sound is occurring, fire sonic shockwaves from its hands, and even create a binding ring of energy from its forehead that mutes enemies.
• Our Monsters Are Weird: Yeah, at this point, you might be noticing that Yapool's monsters are getting a lot wackier. One reviewer described it as looking like "a giant toe with a satellite dish on its head".
• Spell My Name With An S: Soundgillar or Soundgillas?

Machless

First Appearance: The Star of Friendship Forever

• Breath Weapon: Breathes an explosive white gas.
• Hand Blast: Can shoot electrical lasers from its claws.
• Punny Name: Machless attacks anything that goes at the speed of sound or above; in other words, it wants to have eliminate mach speed — created a Mach-less world!
• Sensory Overload: It has very sensitive hearing, and for this reason, it hates loud noises and will attack anything it finds too loud.
• Spell My Name With An S: Machless? Machles? Machres?
• Tunnel King: Mainly gets about by burrowing.

Snowgiran

First Appearance: Resurrection! The Ultra Father!

• Blinded by the Light: Can emit blinding flashes of light from its forehead. Compared to other monsters that can do this however he straight-up severely damages the eyes.
• Breath Weapon: Breathes freezing mist from its trunk.
• Eye Scream: Has the power to permanently destroy the eyeballs of people with a flash of light. Luckily the Father of Ultras brings Yuko, who somehow has the ability to heal eyesight now.
• An Ice Person: As its name suggests, Snowgiran is able to manipulate ice and cold temperatures, such as creating a blizzard at will.
• Voluntary Shapeshifting: Snowgiran is able to disguise itself as a human-sized snowman in order to surprise passerbys and attacks them.

Firemons

First Appearance: The Life of Seven! The Life of Ace!

• Breath Weapon: Breathes fire. Additionally, it shoots laser bullets from its nostrils.
• Flaming Sword: Firemons' weapon of choice is a sword wreathed in fire that was not only able to burn Ace with even a light slash, but also kill him when the Choju stabbed him through the chest with it.
• Glass Cannon: Despite its swordsmanship skills and successfully killing Ace, Firemons is ultimately brought down by human weaponry.
• Hero Killer: Don't worry, Seven brings Ace back to life.
• Mythology Gag: Much like Zetton from Ultraman, Firemons appears in the 39th episode of his show, kills the main Ultra, and was defeated by human weaponry at the end.
• Playing with Fire: Mostly in the name, as Firemons really doesn't have any other fiery powers except for fire-breathing and its sword of flame.
• Punny Name: Firemons is a fire monster...

Kaimanda

First Appearance: Ghost Story: The Lion Drum

• Achilles' Heel: The flaming wheel on Kaimanda's back is the source of the monster's pyrokinetic abilities. Destroying it will render Kaimanda powerless.
• Breath Weapon: Breathes fire.
• God of Evil: Said to be the manifestation of one, as it is formed from said deity's statue. Its Boss Subtitles is even "Evil God Super-Beast".
• Multiple-Tailed Beast: Has two tails.
• Playing with Fire: Kaimanda is stated to have numerous fire-based powers, although the only one we see is its fiery breath weapon.
• Tail Slap: Kaimanda's twin tails allow it to bash its enemies quite effectively.

Shishigoran

First Appearance: Ghost Story: The Lion Drum

• Asian Lion Dogs: Modeled after lions, or more accurately the kinds featured in the traditional Lion Dance of many East Asian cultures.
• Blinded by the Light: Shishigoran is able to flash its eyes to create explosive light that blinds enemies as well.
• Breath Weapon: Breathes fire, just like Kaimanda.
• Demonic Possession: Since Shishigoran is normally just a traditional Lion Dance mask, the Choju has to physically appear by taking over the body whoever wears it.
• Dragon and Lion Dance: Is a direct result of the ire against lion dance neglect and as such, it resembles the costumes worn for them.
• Evil Mask: Manifests from one, specifically base don those used in Lion Dances like this one◊.

Iceron

First Appearance: Mystery! Resurrection of the Monster Woo!

• An Arm and a Leg: Ultraman Ace rips off one of Iceron's arms before finishing him off.
• Breath Weapon: Breathes freezing mist.
• Buried Alive: Ultraman Ace defeats Iceron by entombing the Choju in a gargantuan avalanche created with his Metallium Ray.
• Extra Eyes: Has three red eyes.
• An Ice Person: As its name suggests, Iceron's a Choju with winter-based powers, notably the ability to create a massive blizzard around itself.

Fubugirara

First Appearance: Ghost Story: Cry of the Yeti

• Bigfoot, Sasquatch, and Yeti: As the episode's name suggests, Fubugirara is a Yeti-based Choju.
• Breath Weapon: Breathes a freezing mist, successfully freezing Ultraman Ace with it for a brief moment. Fubugirara really didn't count on Ace being able to thaw himself out.
• Eye Beams: Able to fire a thin red laser from both of its eyes.
• Half the Man He Used to Be: Its fate.
• An Ice Person: Thrives in extremely cold regions due to having originated from an ice planet. Its Boss Subtitles is even "Blizzard Super-Beast".
• Spell My Name With An S: Also called Fubigirara and Fubugilara.

Onidevil

First Appearance: Setsubun Ghost Story: The Shining Bean

• Achilles' Heel: Destroying Onidevil's big red horn will vastly weaken the Choju and render it powerless.
• Aim for the Horn: Ace managed to weaken Onidevil by kicking its middle horn off.
• Blinded by the Light: Can emit blinding flashes of light from its main horn.
• Casting a Shadow: The same horn that creates the blinding flashes can create a cloud of darkness to cloak its surroundings.
• Oni: The first of several monsters in the Ultra Series based on these infamous Japanese demons. Perhaps fittingly, it appears in an episode revolving around a holiday dedicated to dispelling evil spirits.
• Spell My Name With An S: Also called Oni-Devil.

Gasgegon

First Appearance: Big Pinch! Save Ace!

• Action Bomb: The immense amount of radiation in Gasgegon's body makes it similar to a living atomic bomb, so TAC and Ultraman Ace have to be extra careful in dealing with it.
• Atomic Superpower: Gasgegon's big theme. The Choju is highly radioactive and can produce thermal radiation from its body at will, which also means that killing Gasergon could cause the monster to go through a disastrous nuclear meltdown.
• Breath Weapon: Has two breath weapons; the first is a standard stream of fire, and the second is a deadly cloud of toxic gas.
• Came from the Sky: Descends upon Earth by crashing into a satellite in the form of a black cloud before entering the atmosphere as a glowing red orb of fire.
• Spell My Name With An S: Also called Gasergon, Gaseron, and Gasegon.

Daidarahoshi

First Appearance: Ride Beyond the Time Machine

• Breath Weapon: Breathes fire.
• Fighting Clown: The Choju's battle with Ultraman Ace is quite silly. Notably, the two engage in a mock swordfight by using trees to fence each other until Daidarahoshi fakes its death when being struck to the chest.
• Meaningful Name: Named after the Daidarabotchi, a mountain giant in Japanese folklore.
• Our Monsters Are Weird: Daidarahoshi definitely ranks among Yapool's more insane creations, with its gibbering cackle-like roar, ability to travel though time, and an appearance that was once described as looking like something straight out of a Dr. Seuss book.
• Playing Possum: Pretends to be taken down for good by Ace, only to sneak back up when Ace tries getting near for a closer look.
• Time Master: Daiadarahoshi possesses the ability to travel through time as it pleases, so TAC actually has to borrow a primitive time machine from some scientists in order to pursue the crazy-looking monster.

Hanzagiran

First Appearance: Curse of the Salamander

Japanese giant salamander

• Breath Weapon: Hanzagiran breathes a spray of acid that while ineffective against steel, is able to dissolve stone and flesh.
• Humans Are the Real Monsters: Hanzagiran is the sole surviving Japanese giant salamander from the village's nearby river when all the other animals in the river were killed by pollution. The old man wants revenge for all the wildlife that were killed by the village's callousness.
• Meaningful Name: Hanzagiran's name is derived from "Hanzaki", a type of salamander Yōkai that has become the informal name of the Japanese giant salamander.
• Pet Monstrosity: While its Choju origins make it clear Yapool had a hand in its creation, Hanzagiran is mainly loyal to the old man whose hatred and flute empower it; not to mention that he keeps its normal salamander form as his pet (though it's actually illegal in Japan to keep a Japanese giant salamander as a pet).
• The Power of Hate: Yapool granted the old man's pet giant salamander the ability to become a Choju using his own hate towards his fellow villagers for polluting the local rivers.

Aquarius

First Appearance: The Flying Jellyfish

Played by: Hirose Takako (human form actress)

• Alas, Poor Villain: Recognising that she was just Univerlages' servant and didn't willingly become the alien's pawn, Both TAC and Ace feel pretty bad for her after she dies. Ace even gives her a proper burial and pays his respects before leaving.
• Bird People: Her true form is a bird-headed humanoid with a highly asymmetrical fashion sense.
• High Priestess: Her human form, as a priestess ruling over a village.
• Meaningful Name: In her human form, Aquarius carries a communication device disguised as a water jug, in reference to the constellation she's named after.
• Neck Snap: She's killed when Ultraman Ace lands an empowered high kick into her cranium, breaking her neck in the process.
• Shoe Phone: Her human form carries a clay vase that doubles as a communication device for her to relay orders to Univerlages.
• Shoulder Cannon: The flower on her left shoulder can act as one, able to fire bolts of explosive energy and clouds of choking smoke. For some reason, it appears to require Aquarius to hold a sufficient amount of plant material in her hand to be fired, as Aquarius grabs hold of a tree to use the weapon, and it stops firing after Ace forces her to let go of it.

Signalion

First Appearance: Mass Chaos in Tokyo! Traffic Signals Gone Haywire!

• Blinded by the Light: Can flash brights lights in the colours of traffic signals from its head to blind enemies.
• Extra Eyes: Has a third eye smack on the top of its forehead. Appropriately, whereas its two main eyes are green and orange, the third eye is red.
• Eye Beams: Signalion can fire three of these from each of its eyes, with the beam's colours matching those of the eyes.
• Hack the Traffic Lights: Signalion's signature ability is to make traffic signals go haywire in order to wreak massive havoc. Furthermore, Signalion can weaponize traffic lights.
• Our Monsters Are Weird: Seriously, just look at this guy!
• Smoke Out: Signalion can emit three types of smoke from its body — a superheated red one, a yellow one that causes it to go berserk, and a blue one that allows it to vanish in thin air.

Geegon

First Appearance: Life-Stealing Sound

• Achilles' Heel: Destroying Geegon's strings renders it powerless.
• Make My Monster Grow: Starts off the size of an average violin, but grows as it steals more lives with its music.
• Musical Anatomy: A choju with a giant violin as a body.
• Musical Assassin: Geegon's signature gimmick is that in its violin form, it plays music that drains the life out of anyone who hears it, causing the violin to grow to kaiju-sized proportions.
• Our Monsters Are Weird: Behold! One of the strangest monsters in the series, as well as the entire Ultra Series up to this point! Simply put, Geegon is a giant violin who can steal the life force of those who listen to it, eventually transforming into a half violin, half bird Choju who can fire beams from its pegs!
• Shock and Awe: Shoots paralyzing lightning bolts from its pegs.
• Super-Scream: Being an instrument-based monster, Geegon is able to emit a terrible high-pitched screech from its body to incapacitate foes.
• Voluntary Shapeshifting: Can assume the form of an animated violin that plays music by itself.

Jumbo King

First Appearance: Tomorrow's Ace is You!

• Breath Weapon: Has two breath weapons — a stream of fire and a hail of laser bullets.
• Eye Beams: Fires yellow laser beams from its eyes.
• Final Boss: While not the final Choju ever (other Choju would appear in subsequent series, such as Oil Drinker in Ultraman Taro and the below-mentioned U-Killersaurus in Ultraman Mebius), Jumbo King is Ace's final opponent in his series.
• Hybrid Monster: The first one of the Ultra Series. Yapool specifically used the parts of Unitang, Mazaron-Man, Cowra, and Mazarius and merged them together into a form approximate to that of Brocken.
• The Juggernaut: As expected by what is supposed to be Yapool's ultimate Choju (at least until Ultraman Mebius introduced U-Killersaurus), Jumbo King is incredibly strong and highly resistant to the majority of Ultraman Ace's attacks.
• Off with His Head!: How Ace defeats it.
• Series Continuity Error: Cowra and Mazarius are two of the Choju composing Jumbo King's body despite the fact neither of them technically ever died (they were only reverted back into their original forms).
• Super-Strength: Every bit as physically powerful as you would expect for a creature with the combined might of four Choju.

Giron Man

First Appearance: Giant Ant Choju vs. Ultra Brothers

Voiced by: Ritsuo Sawa

• Bond Villain Stupidity: After trapping Ultraman Ace in his lair, beneath a Descending Ceiling, Giron Man simply leaves Ace to his fate while going to the surface to join his pet monster Aribunta in destroying the city. This allows Ace to fire an Ultra Sign and summon Ultraman Zoffy, who is thankfully near Earth, to bail him out.
• Dishing Out Dirt: Was able to create massive stalactites and stalagmites from the ground in order to make a cage for Ace.
• Foreshadowing: At the beginning of the episode an eye looks out from the sky. This is not the eye of Yapool or Aribunta. In the third act, it's revealed the eye belongs to Giron Man, revealing himself to an unsuspecting Ace.
• Master of Illusion: Giron Man creates an illusion of Aribunta that Ace chases, battles, and quickly destroys, giving him the opportunity to create his prison around the hero.
• Near-Villain Victory: Manages to trap Ace underground with no way out. If Zoffy wasn't in the area at the time he would've won.
• Power Pincers: Able to fire laser bullets from his pincers.
• Put Their Heads Together: Zoffy and Ace kill him and Aribunta with this method.
• Shock and Awe: Was shown to be able to electrify the prison of stalactites and stalagmites he created to torture Ultraman Ace.
• Teleport Spam: Uses this ability to elude Ace when the hero pursues him through his cave network.

Alien Metron Jr.

First Appearance: Kaiju vs. Choju vs. Seijin

• Art Evolution: Metron has a more simplistic orange-and-blue colour scheme with less yellow accents. Additionally, he has a visible mouth. Justified by the fact that he's a different individual from the original Alien Metron.
• Avenging the Villain: He's the son of the original Alien Metron working with Yapool to avenge his father's death on Earth.
• Blinded by the Light: Unlike other versions of Alien Metron (including his old man), Metron Jr. can create explosive flashes of blinding light from his hands.
• Culture Clash:How Metron Jr.'s cover is blown. The Metrons have no concept of wedding rings so when Yuko Minami asks Maya for it she gives it up like it's no big deal. This convinces Yamanaka that she's being controlled by an alien.
• Demonic Possession: The only incarnation of Metron to do this, which he does to infiltrate TAC's base.
• Half the Man He Used to Be: His fate.
• Hand Blast: Able to shoot stun bolts from his finger tips — an ability the original Alien Metron and all subsequent incarnations of the alien have never displayed.
• Kill and Replace: Kills Maya and then takes her dead body as a disguise.
• Teleport Spam: Yet another ability not seen in other incarnations of Alien Metron (Alien Metron doesn't have a lot of unique powers, okay?).

Muruchi II

First Appearance: Kaiju vs. Choju vs. Seijin

• Adaptational Villainy: In its original appearance, Muruchi was a Tragic Monster that was only rampaging to avenge the death of its benevolent master. Here, Muruchi II freely joins Metron Jr. and Doragory's fight with Ace with little provocation or motivation, seemingly for no other reason than the fact it wanted to fight Ace and saw the others as its allies.
• An Arm and a Leg: Had its leg and lower jaw ripped off by Doragory.
• Cruel and Unusual Death / Family-Unfriendly Death: Doragory dismembers Muruchi II very graphically on-screen and uncensored, tearing its jaw and leg clean off.
• Diabolus ex Nihilo: Muruchi II's appearance is as unexpected as it is unexplained, still baffling fans to this day.
  • The Ultraman Encyclopedia aims to rectify this by stating it to have hatched from an egg laid by the original monster from Return of Ultraman, although this creates a plot hole of its own; the first Muruchi was aboard Mates's spaceship for the majority of the episode, so when did it lay the egg?
  • Fans have speculated that the first Muruchi actually survived its fight with Jack and was then disturbed by Ace's battle with Doragory and Metron Jr. (even though the creature was clearly killed by a Specium Ray on-screen).
• Jawbreaker: After Doragory gets enraged, his first act is to mutilate Muruchi II by ripping off his jaw, taking off a massive amount of flesh from his neck and torso in the process. Neither this, nor having his leg torn off kill him immediately, so it can be assumed he died slowly and in agonising pain.
• Villain Team-Up: With Metron and Doragory until Muruchi II rubbed Doragory the wrong way.
• We Hardly Knew Ye: Appears at the end of one episode and killed off barely minutes later in the following episode.
• The Worf Effect: Muruchi II's quick and brutal death at the hands of Doragory served to showcase how much more powerful Choju were than the standard kaiju of the previous series.

Alien Antira

First Appearance: Battle! Ace vs. Hideki Goh!

Voiced by: Hirofumi Takada

• Bitch in Sheep's Clothing: When the episode introduces him we are initially led to believe that he's Go returning home but really he's an evil alien disguise.
• In a Single Bound: It can jump great distances while assuming a human disguise much like Go, using this trick to dodge Zaigon's attacks.
• Jabba Table Manners: While disguised as Go, the alien eats by stabbing both chopsticks into his food, rather than observing proper Japanese etiquette. This (and that it's using it's left hand) ticks off Jiro that something's not quite right with Go.
• Lamprey Mouth: His true form consists of a giant, fang-loaded maw that takes up most of its face, with two beady eyes (that's hardly noticeable unless you squint) on either side.
• Shapeshifter: Another of those Ultra Series aliens that specializes in turning itself into an evil version of the heroes. But rather than an Ultraman, Antira impersonates one of their human hosts, knowing that their good reputation with successor defense teams will allow him to get away with his attacks on Hokuto.
• A Sinister Clue: While disguised as Hideki Go, he uses chopsticks with his left hand. The real Hideki is right-handed.
• Spell My Name With An S: Also called Achira.

Ace Robot

First Appearance: The Five Stars that Scattered Through the Galaxy

• Bling of War: Like the earlier, Alien Salome-produced Robot Ultraseven in Ultraseven, this robot is equipped with numerous accessories to make it stand out from the real thing. Unlike Robot Ultraseven, Ace Robot's gear is gold in colour.
• Non-Malicious Monster: Unlike most of the other Imitation Ultras, Ace Robot wasn't built with the intention of damaging the reputation of its biological counterpart, rather being constructed as a mere test subject.
• Mass "Oh, Crap!": Ace Robot's destruction induces this reaction from the Ultra Brothers, especially when combined with Yapool's boasts about Ace Killer's power.
• Rasputinian Death: Is subject to each of the powers Ace Killer stole, with Zoffy's M87 Ray finally blowing it to pieces.
• The Worf Effect: Yapool solely created it to demonstrate Ace Killer, who proves completely immune to the Metallium Ray and soon destroys the robot with the powers of Zoffy and Ultraman Jack.

Space Mask

First Appearance: Yapool, Demon of Revenge

Voiced by: Tomiotto Tomikawa (also human form actor)

• Bitch in Sheep's Clothing: He makes himself seem like a kind and lovable teacher who wants to let children have fun and makes friends with TAC (even inviting them to visit his students), but as an agent of Yapool, his friendliness is all part of a dire scheme.
• Came from the Sky: He arrives on Earth in the form of a comet that is reported to TAC, only for him to kill the witness and quickly elude the investigation.
• The Faceless: As his name suggests, Space Mask's face is concealed by a silvery tinfoil mask (though for all we know, it could be his actual face).
• Healing Hands: Uses these on Yamanaka and Mikawa, showing the strength to even revive the dead, after getting them into a car accident when they are initially searching for him.
• Mind Over Matter: Uses telekinesis to knock Mikawa and Yamanaka's patrol car off a cliff when they are driving in search of him.
• Playing with Fire: Was able to create a small spark of flame that he used to burn a hole through a steel fence.
• Retcon: In his debut episode, Space Mask was stated to be Yapool in disguise. However, later Expanded Universe material states that Space Mask is only an alien minion of Yapool.
• Silicon-Based Life: His species is stated to be made of a silver-like space metal.

Alien Orion

First Appearance: The Pyramid is the Choju's Nest

Played by: Mahito Tsujimura (voice), Yoko Tadokoro (Michiru's actress)

• Bizarre Alien Biology: The Orion aliens are only able to breathe a specialized toxic gas that contains extraterrestrial metals that are hazardous to humans. Thus, when they awake in the present to conquer Earth, they begin to fill the atmosphere with the gas to change it to their suiting.
• Death Equals Redemption: Thanks to the kindness of Seiji and being betrayed by her people, the female spy, Michiru gives her life to save Ace by distracting Sphinx.
• Pyramid Power: The Orion use a giant floating pyramid as their lair and their place of entombment.
• Sealed Evil in a Can: They had been slumbering for thirteen thousand years, waiting for the opportunity to return and take over Earth.

Alien Hipporit

First Appearance: Total Annihilation! The Five Ultra Brothers!

Voiced by: Isao Yatsu

Infamous as one of Ultraman Ace's most powerful enemies, Alien Hipporit has reappeared a few more times in the Ultra Series, complete with his deadly petrification abilities. However, the original Hipporit design above hasn't been used in decades in favour of a more menacing one dubbed Super Alien Hipporit.

• Arc Villain: Takes center stage as main villain in episodes 26 and 27.
• Blinded by the Light: Hipporit can create blinding flashes of light from his antennae.
• Breakout Villain: Hipporit is notorious as being one of the most formidable opponents of any Ultra hero in the Ultra Series, making him a very popular choice whenever Tsuburaya Productions wants to recycle an older alien who will put up a major challenge for their heroes.
• Breath Weapon: Breathes fire, as well as explosive smoke, from his trunk-like mouth. Some manga of the series have depicted him being able to spray a tar-like fluid as well — an ability never displayed in the show.
• Chest Blaster: Can fire lasers from his chest.
• Evil Laugh: Much of his dialogue consists of evil gloating to taunt TAC and the Ultras as he defeats them.
• Eye Beams: One of his minor abilities.
• Hand Blast: Can launch heat-seeking missiles from his hands.
• Interim Villain: One of the few villains unaffiliated with Yapool. Since Yapool had been recovering from a major battle with Ace, Hipporit causes trouble for two episodes before he's dealt with, after which Yapool re-emerges to retake his role as the main antagonist.
• Outside-Context Problem: Like Alien Steal, Hipporit came to Earth to launch his own plan completely independent from Yapool. Unlike Steal, Hipporit is considerably more threatening.
• Playing with Fire: Asides from the aforementioned Breath Weapon, Hipporito can also encase his fists in fire to improve his punches.
• Ring of Fire: Thanks to his fiery powers, Hipporit eventually managed to trap the TAC in a burning circle. He's about to execute them, but gets interrupted by the Father of Ultra's timely arrival.
• Shock and Awe: Shoots lightning from his antennae.
• Super-Persistent Missile: One of his missiles pursues a TAC jet for almost a minute, which TAC found out the hard way after spinning in circles and failing to lose the projectile. They need to jettison their ride and let their plane be destroyed.
• Taken for Granite: His most dreaded ability, the Hipporit Capsule. Hipporit can create a transparent canister around any victim he chooses. The canister then fills with a strange gas that turns its victims to jade. In later incarnations, the gas turns victims to bronze instead.
• The Worf Effect: He defeats no less than five Ultramen in a row with his petrification powers. Naturally when the Ultra Father steps in to save the day, the evil alien gets his ass kicked hard.

Undergroundmon

First Appearance: The Sixth Ultra Brother

Voiced by: Osamu Saka

• Achilles' Heel: His chest is his most vulnerable point.
• Breath Weapon: Breathes a blue beam of restraining energy.
• Chest Blaster: Can fire a blue energy beam from his chest.
• Expy: Of Giron Man from earlier, another pincer-handed subterranean humanoid who commands a Choju to attack humanity. The main difference is that Undergroundmon is a native of Earth whereas Giron Man was an alien.
• Eye Beams: Able to shoot red lasers from his eyes.
• Spell My Name With An S: Sometimes called Ungramon.
• Would Hurt a Child: Tries to hurl a child off a cliff after his cover is blown.

Namahage

First Appearance: Resurrection! The Ultra Father!

Voiced by: Ritsuo Sawa

• The Grinch: Namahage hates Christmas because he sees its foreignness as an offense to Japanese culture.
• Misplaced Nationalism: He hates Christmas because he sees it as the ultimate embodiment of western values corrupting Japan.
• Politically Incorrect Villain: Spouts off his xenophobic motives quite openly; when he sees Father of Ultra join the battle, he goes utterly ballistic, instantly labelling him and Ace as 'western creatures' and orders Snowgiran to 'kick [them] out of Japan'. Father of Ultra kills him immediately afterwards.
• Yōkai: Namahage is a notorious boogeyman from northern Honshu folklore who shows up on New Year's Eve in search of naughty children and ne'er-do-wells to punish.

Alien Fire

First Appearance: The Life of Seven! The Life of Ace!

Portrayed by: Goro Kataoka (human form actor)

• Eye Scream: That little nareow slit in his face appears to be where his eyes would be located. It's also the same spot Ace would stab through with Firemons' own sword at the conclusion of their fight.
• Flaming Sword: After Firemons is destroyed, Fire takes Firemons' flaming sword to battle Ultraman Ace in the episode's final showdown.
• Playing with Fire: As his name suggests, although he really doesn't display any fire powers. His Boss Subtitles is "Fire Man" though.

Alien Steal

First Appearance: Give Back the Panda!

Played by: Toshiya Sugita (voice), Chikichi Okamura (human form actor)

• Dastardly Whiplash: His human disguise is this, complete with bowler hat, cape and cartoonish scheme.
• Outside-Context Problem: With the sole exception of Alien Hipporito, he's the only opponent in the series who has absolutely nothing to do with Yapool's schemes, with his plan being considerably less grand and much more self-serving.
• Playing with Fire: Can shoot jets of flame from his antennae.
• Punny Name: An alien thief named Steal who looks like he's made of steel
• Shock and Awe: Able to fire red bolts of lightning from his antennae.
• Sticky Fingers: Steal's quite the kleptomaniac, and makes full use of his powers to allow him to steal as much merchandise as he can get his hands on. He'd probably have gotten away with it if Ace didn't intervene.
• Super-Speed: Steal can run at speeds of 60 kilometers per hour in both his human disguise and his true form.
• Weaponized Teleportation: Steal used this ability in order to rob stores and gather everything he's taken into one area.
• Would Hurt a Child: After being denied of having a living panda for himself, he turns himself into kaiju form intending to crush two kids, but thankfully Ace arrived just in time to beat him off.

Woo II

First Appearance: Mystery! Resurrection of the Monster Woo!

• Art Evolution: Compared to the previous Woo seen in the original Ultraman, this one is more of a grayish colour.
• Gender Flip: The original Woo manifested from the spirit of a mother, but this Woo appears from the ghost of a father instead.
• Papa Wolf: Whereas the first Woo was a Mama Bear.

Univerlages

First Appearance: The Flying Jellyfish

• Flying Seafood Special: The episode's name is self-explanatory.
• God Guise: His plan to take over the world was to assume this by blotting out the Sun and then telling people that only he had the divine power to save them. Of course, it also served to turn people against TAC and Ultraman Ace.
• Spell My Name With An S: This guy's Japanese name (Yunibaragesu) is quite hard to translate, so variations include Univergales, Univarges, and so on and so forth.
• Starfish Aliens: One of the few alien races in the Ultra Series played by a marionette instead of a man in a suit.

Alien Revole

First Appearance: Mass Chaos in Tokyo! Traffic Signals Gone Haywire!

Portrayed by: Eiichi Kikuchi (voice), Toya Takanobu (human form)

• Defiant to the End: The last Revole warns TAC that he's not finished with the humans yet, even after his death, before he succumbs. Turns out he's right, with all the Revoles dead their monster Signalion is now free to wreak havoc the following day.
• Hack the Traffic Lights: Revole's entire scheme was to do this by using Signalion. It actually works quite well, as he causes several fatal car crashes in the episode and turns Tokyo into a driver's nightmare.
