Overdrive Rangers

    In General
Characters in Power Rangers Operation Overdrive
The Overdrive Rangers
  • 10-Minute Retirement: A rather infamous moment occurred when the Rangers, losing their connection to the Morphin Grid and having to be rescued by the Retro Rangers, quit and go back to their normal lives. However, it doesn't last for too long and they come back once they realize they still had to finish their mission and when their powers are restored.
  • Adventure Archaeologist: Since the Rangers this season are on the hunt for the Corona Aurora jewels, they travel across the globe to find treasure to help lead them in the right direction.
  • Bio-Augmentation: Before receiving their powers, Andrew altered the team's DNA to give them unique genetic abilities to use when demorphed. Tyzonn is the exception to this as he's a Human Alien, and has his own set of powers. Later in the season, Mack turns out is an android, and already had super strength.
  • Contrasting Sequel Main Character:
    • The Mystic Force Rangers were chosen by a wizard to become Power Rangers and had magical-based powers. The Overdrive Rangers were hired by a billionaire to become Power Rangers and had technology-based powers.
    • Also, while the Mystic Force Rangers had the mission of stopping the Master, the Overdrive Rangers' mission was to collect the Corona Aurora jewels while stopping the villain factions from getting them.
  • Gendered Outfit: The girl Rangers wear miniskirts over their pants while the guy Rangers just wear pants.
  • Transformation Trinket:
    • The core five Rangers use Overdrive Trackers to morph. These are cell phone like Morphers that have a spinner the Rangers rub against to initiate the Morph. They can also be used to scan for artifacts and initiate Megazord configurations.
    • The Mercury Ranger uses the Mercury Morpher to morph. It is a wrist mounted Morpher with similar functions to the Overdrive Tracker.

Mackenzie "Mack" Hartford / Red Overdrive Ranger

Mackenzie "Mack" Hartford / Red Overdrive Ranger | (Actor: James Maclurcan, Nolan North (Power Rangers: Super Legends))

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/proo_rg_mack.jpg

Mack was the son of Andrew Hartford and spent most of his time in the family mansion with Spencer, his butler, and best friend. While not initially a candidate for Operation Overdrive, he proved to his father that he was worthy of the Red Overdrive powers, and was allowed to join the team. He also gained the genetic ability of super strength.

  • Adaptation Species Change: Human in Booukenger, Artificial Human here. Ultimately subverted when Mac becomes human in the end.
  • Adaptational Angst Upgrade: Akashi was Fun Personified (though with Hidden Depths). Mack on the other hand starts off as a Lonely Rich Kid who has disagreements with his father over the latter's overprotective nature. Then he finds out he's a robot and falls into full-on suicidal depression.
  • Artificial Human: He's actually a robot.
  • Ascended Fanboy: Spent all his time reading adventure stories, and as a Ranger, he gets to live an adventure story.
  • Badass Boast: When Flurious, post-One-Winged Angel thanks to the Corona Aurora, states that no human can stop him, he replies "I'm not human, I'm just fine with that."
  • Become a Real Boy: After his Heroic Sacrifice, the Sentinel Knight brings him back as a flesh-and-blood human.
  • Broken Record: Is revealed to be a robot after a virus shorts out the electrical grid and he begins to repeatedly say "Good thing".
  • Curb-Stomp Battle: In the season's second episode, he delivers one to Moltor, in their very first fight.
  • Death Seeker: Once he finds out he's a robot, he becomes a lot less concerned about his well-being and throws himself into dangerous situations often, believing that his machine nature means he's expendable.
  • Establishing Character Moment: First seen going through an Indiana Jones-esque adventure before it's revealed he fell asleep reading an adventure book. He then talks to Spencer over how he wishes he can travel with his father around the world on archaeological adventures.
  • Expy: Of Gaku Hoshikawa from Chikyuu Sentai Fiveman.
  • Fake Memories: It turns out that all of his memories of his life up to the beginning of the show were programmed into him to make him believe he's human.
  • Fusion Dance: Mack combines with the Sentinel Knight to become the Red Sentinel Ranger.
  • Go Mad from the Revelation: Mack did not take his Robotic Reveal well, to the point of being suicidal.
  • Heroic BSoD: He goes through a serious depressive episode after finding out he's a robot and gives his father the cold shoulder, unsure just how much of his actions are a result of his free will or what was programmed into him.
  • Humanity Ensues: In the end, he becomes a flesh-and-blood human courtesy of the Sentinel Knight.
  • Jumped at the Call: He jumps at the chance to help when he finds out his father his putting together a team of Rangers, wanting to go on the adventures like he had always read about in his books. Though Mr. Hartford refuses to let him, he ultimately relents when he sees how serious Mack is about it.
  • Law of Chromatic Superiority: Has a Battlizer, and the final arc revolves around his Robotic Reveal.
  • Lonely Rich Kid: He's introduced as being incredibly sheltered, having never been able to experience any excitement outside of his adventure books. This quickly changes after he becomes the Red Ranger.
  • Meaningful Name: Mack —> Mac —> Machine
  • Missing Mom: Averted, he never had one to begin with. His dad was too busy with his work to find a woman.
  • More Expendable Than You: Mack's reason for raiding Moltor's volcano by himself was because he finds himself the most expendable, being a robot.
  • Playing with Fire: His Drive Lance has done fire attacks on one or more occasions.
  • Ridiculously Human Robots: As stated repeatedly above, he's a robot, and looks like human.
  • Robotic Reveal: "Things Not Said" has him getting infected with a computer virus, with him discovering along with the audience after the virus is taken out that he's a robot.
  • Rookie Red Ranger: He was the only one who wasn't meant to be on the team as his father intended to be the Red Ranger himself and got his morpher after everyone else. After proving himself, his father allowed him to continue as the Red Ranger and leader of the team.
  • Super-Strength: Turns out to not be a genetic ability, but his natural android strength.
  • Tomato in the Mirror: He's a robot. He doesn't take the revelation well.
  • Walking Spoiler: There is more to him than the Lonely Rich Kid we're introduced to, something he's not even aware of.
  • What Measure Is a Non-Human?: Against himself, no less, after he discovers he's a robot. He pretty quickly becomes borderline suicidal, believing that him being a machine means he's inherently more expendable than the rest of the team. He also starts questioning if anything about his own motivations are actually the result of any free will or if they were just programmed into him.
  • Younger Than They Look: He looks like a young adult but is actually a robot who was only built two years before the events of the show by Mr. Hartford.

Will Aston / Black Overdrive Ranger

Will Aston / Black Overdrive Ranger | (Actor: Samuell Benta, Darryl Kurylo (Power Rangers: Super Legends))

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/proo_rg_will.jpg

Will started out as a spy for hire, mostly stealing back objects for their original owners. His skills made him worthy for Operation Overdrive, and he became the Black Overdrive Ranger. He also gained the genetic ability of enhanced hearing and sight.

  • Carry a Big Stick: Will's signature weapon is the Drive Slammer, a sledgehammer that he can toss as a boomerang.
  • Classy Cat-Burglar: He's a freelance thief who steals already stolen objects.
  • Cool Bike: His Hover Tech Cycle which functions as both a ground vehicle and a makeshift helicopter.
  • Cut Lex Luthor a Check: As shown in Once A Ranger, he started using his prowess as a burglar to act as a security consultant.
  • Carry a Big Stick: Will's main weapon is the Drive Slammer, a sledge hammer.
  • Ineffectual Loner: Later subverted as he becomes an Effectual Loner.
  • Informed Flaw: Ronny explains when Will faked defecting that he has a habit of breaking the rules. The only episode where he had any conflict with the team is when his inability to cooperate caused him to try and handle a situation on his own. He wasn't so much breaking the rules as he was pushing everyone away to get the job done quicker.
  • I Work Alone: He's not much of a team player at the beginning, but after his refusal to cooperate with the rest of the team nearly costs them he starts to learn the importance of 'we' and not 'I'.
  • The Lancer: Will is the second in command of the Rangers and his lone wolf attitude contrasts with Mack's teamwork set mentality.
  • Real Men Wear Pink: His bike is partially pink.
  • The Mole: He faked defecting to Kamdor and Miratrix to steal a map to the second jewel from them.
  • Movie Superheroes Wear Black: He is given the powers of the Black Overdrive Ranger and the genetic power of heightened senses.
  • Single-Stroke Battle: With Kamdor which is how he eventually kills him.
  • Spy Fiction: Will is expert covert spy.
  • Smug Smiler: He's seen smiling whenever things go his way.
  • Super-Senses: His civilian powers grant him enhanced hearing and sight.
  • Took a Level in Kindness: He's smug, cocky and arrogant in the early episodes, but he mellows out. He also goes from a professional thief to help improve security.

Dax Lo / Blue Overdrive Ranger

Dax Lo / Blue Overdrive Ranger | (Actor: Gareth Yuen)

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/proo_rg_dax.jpg

Dax started out as a stuntman but was not seen as a worthwhile member of his production company. Despite that, his skills made him worthy of Operation Overdrive, and he became the Blue Overdrive Ranger. He also gained the genetic ability of enhanced jumping.

  • Asian Airhead: Possibly the only male example in the entire franchise, he's rather ditzy and a Cloudcuckoolander.
  • Blow You Away: His Drive Vortex can generate twisters to blow away his opponents.
  • Dating Catwoman: Subverted; he falls in love with a girl named Mira who seems okay at first, but it isn't until later that it is revealed she's actually the villainous Miratrix.
  • Dude, Where's My Respect?: Actors and film crew act like he doesn't exist.
  • Genius Ditz: He was able to outsmart Miratrix by switching the scrolls in "Heart of Blue" and was the only one to understand Bridge when explaining his origins (whilst everyone was left a bit confused).
  • In a Single Bound: His civilian power lets him jump a dozen or so meters into the air.
  • Nice Guy: He's probably the nicest guy in the team (if a little egotistical at times).
  • The Quiet One: Dax is a man of few words, but when he does speak, it's hard not to pay attention to him. Or at times, chuckle.

Veronica "Ronny" Robinson / Yellow Overdrive Ranger

Veronica "Ronny" Robinson / Yellow Overdrive Ranger | (Actress: Caitlin Murphy)

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/proo_rg_ronny.jpg

Ronny started out as a racecar driver and won many circuits and trophies. Her skills made her worthy for Operation Overdrive, and she became the Yellow Overdrive Ranger. She also gained the genetic ability of super speed.

  • Adaptational Badass: Although Natsuki is a Badass Adorable.
  • Competition Freak: Ronny is a race car driver, so she's naturally competitive and a bit of a showoff. On the other hand, she's still a better team player than Will, so she could be worse in working with the other rangers.
  • Super-Speed: Her civilian power, which fits her love of speed.
  • Speed Demon: Not only does she have Super-Speed but she is a professional race-car driver and loves going fast. She is the main pilot of the SHARC (Special Hydro Aero Recon Craft) and is the most excited when it comes to driving any new vehicle the Rangers are given. Ironically, Ronny's zord is a bulldozer, which isn't a very fast vehicle and the Black Ranger Will pilots a zord based on a car which is called "the Speed Driver".
  • Tomboy: In sharp, almost polar contrast to her Sentai counterpart, Natsuki.
  • Tomboyish Name: Short for "Veronica"
  • Wolverine Claws: Her Drive Claws are this and an Improbable Weapon, given that they're inspired by a bulldozer.
  • Wrench Wench: She's not afraid to get dirty and covered in oil when fixing the zords.

Rose Ortiz / Pink Overdrive Ranger

Rose Ortiz / Pink Overdrive Ranger | (Actress: Rhoda Montemayor)

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/proo_rg_rose.jpg

Rose was a gifted genius from a young age, and even became a teacher at a University in London. Her skills made her worthy for Operation Overdrive, and she became the Pink Overdrive Ranger. She also gained the genetic ability of invisibility.

    Tyzonn / Mercury Overdrive Ranger

Tyzonn / Mercury Overdrive Ranger | (Actor: Dwayne Cameron)

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/proo_rg_tyzonn.jpg

A Mercurian alien, Tyzonn was a rescue worker, but during one mission, he lost his team in a cave-in caused by the Fear Cats. He tracked them to Earth but was forcibly turned into a monster by Moltor in the latter's mission to gain the Corona Aurora jewels. After, he met the Rangers, and after being turned back to normal by the Sentinel Knight, he joined Operation Overdrive as the Mercury Ranger.

  • Adaptation Species Change: Half-demon in Boukenger, alien in Operation Overdrive.
  • Bling of War: His suit. It' so shiny you could probably use his helmet as a mirror.
  • Composite Character: His role in the team is obviously based on Bouken Silver, but his team-dying-in-a-cave backstory was actually taken from Bouken Red. And then his initial shtick of being a "liquid human" who was forcefully transformed into a reptilian being came from another separate character named Ragi.
  • Elemental Shapeshifter: He can turn different parts of his body into liquid mercury.
  • Human Aliens: Sure he looks human, but he's not from Earth.
  • Sixth Ranger: After some convincing by Ronny, he joins the team.
  • Survivor Guilt: He let his former crew get killed.
  • Swiss-Army Weapon: The Drive Detector can switch between blaster, staff, and metal detector.
  • The Lost Lenore: He believes his fiancée Vella is deceased. Until he learns she's still alive and they reunite by the finale.

Zords

    Drivemax Megazord

Drivemax Zords/Drivemax Megazord

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/proo_drivemax_megazord.webp
The initial Megazord for the main five Rangers. It is comprised of the first five Drivemax Zords: Dump Driver, Speed Driver, Gyro Driver, Dozer Driver, and Sub Driver.
  • Big Badass Rig: The Dump Driver is a Dump Truck based Zord. It can use its buckets and claws from behind to transport and manipulate objects. It can also attack with its claws.
  • Combining Mecha: As stated above, the Drivemax Megazord is comprised of the first five Drivemax Zords. An alternate configuration is the Mega Truck, a giant tractor truck-trailer formation.
  • Cool Boat: The Sub Driver is a submarine based Zord.
  • Cool Car: The Speed Driver is a racecar based Zord.
  • Cool Helmet: The Gyro Driver's back half forms the Megazord's helmet.
  • Cool Sword: The Drivemax Megazord's main weapon is the Drive Saber. It is a combination of the Drivemax Pick Axe and the Drive Digger Shovel.
  • Finishing Move:
    • Drivemax Megazord: With the Drive Saber, the Megazord powers it through kinetic energy, which is produced by the vibration of components of the chest plate and arm, and slashes at the monster.
    • Drivemax Megazord Drill Formation: Once the Drill Driver Arm is at full power, the Megazord thrusts it towards the monster to destroy it.
    • Drivemax Megazord Shovel Formation: The Megazord strikes the monster with a rapid punch with its Shovel Driver arm until they explode.
    • Drivemax Megazord Drill and Crane Formation: After the Megazord captures the monster with its Crane Cable, it strikes with the full power of the Drill Driver Arm.
    • Drivemax Megazord Rescue Formation: The Megazord fires a barrage of lasers from the Rescue Runner Zords.
  • Leader Forms the Head: Dump Driver forms the un-helmeted head, body and legs of the Megazord.
  • Macross Missile Massacre: The Speed Driver can flip out its front and fire a salvo of missiles.
  • Power Pincers: The Sub Driver sports two large claws on its front.

    DualDrive Megazord

DualDrive Megazord

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/proo_dualdrive_megazord.webp
A Megazord combination comprised of the five auxiliary Zords: Drill Driver, Shovel Driver, Cement Driver, Crane Driver, and Sonic Streaker.
  • Arm Cannon: The Cement Driver can form an arm cannon that shoots liquid cement.
  • Big Badass Rig:
    • The Cement Driver is a cement truck based Zord.
    • The Crane Driver is a crane truck based Zord.
  • Combining Mecha: A Megazord comprised of the five auxiliary Zords the Rangers used to create alternate combinations with their own Megazords.
  • Finishing Move:
    • DualDrive Megazord: The Megazord fires four lasers from its limbs towards the monster.
    • Super Drivemax Megazord: The Megazord skates towards the monster, charging its helmet horns before striking the latter. Then, it turns around to race back to the target and charges up its arms with energy before slashing and boring through the enemy.
    • Drivemax Ultrazord: The Ultrazord charges the solar panel on its chest for a flaming energy blast that destroys targets.
  • Flight: Thanks to the Sonic Streaker forming the back of the Drivemax Ultrazord, said Zord gains flight abilities.
  • Grappling-Hook Pistol: The Crane Driver can form a grapple cable arm that can pull anything towards the Megazord.
  • Leader Forms the Head: The Sonic Streaker forms the head and body of the DualDrive Megazord.
  • Mecha Expansion Pack: Long before the Dual Drive Megazord was considered a thing, its components were used by the Rangers in other ways.
    • The first four could swap the arms of the Drivemax and Flash Point Megazords.
    • The first four could combine with the Drivemax Megazord to form the Super Drivemax Megazord.
    • All five of the auxiliary Zords could combine with the Drivemax Megazord to form the Drivemax Ultrazord.
  • Odd Name Out: The Sonic Streaker is the only one of the first ten Zords to not be called a "Driver".
  • Power Fist: The Shovel Driver can form a piston arm for the Megazord to use.
  • This Is a Drill: As noted by its name, the Drill Driver is a drill vehicle themed Zord that forms a drill arm for Megazord configurations.

    Flash Point Megazord

Flash Point Megazord

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/proo_flash_point_megazord.webp
The Mercury Ranger's Megazord. It is comprised of three Rescue Runners; Fire Truck Zord, Rescue Runner 1, and Rescue Runner 2.
  • Arm Cannon: Both Rescue Runner 1 and 2 can form arms with laser cannons on their fists.
  • Bare-Fisted Monk: Aside from the laser cannons on its arms, the Flash Point Megazord primarly fights with its fists.
  • Combining Mecha: Three Rescue Runner Zords that combine into the singular Flash Point Megazord.
  • Finishing Move:
    • Flash Point Megazord: Hydro Blast: After the head nozzle flips forward, the Megazord shoots a powerful stream of water from all three cannons to destroy the monster.
    • Drill and Shovel Formation: The Megazord strikes with the Shovel Driver before finishing the monster with bursts of water and the Drill Driver.
    • Dozer and Sub Formation: The Flash Point Megazord performs an exact copy of the Drivemax Megazord's finishing move.
  • Making a Splash: Thanks to the Fire Truck Zord being based on, well a Fire Truck, it can shoot streams of water from its cannons.
  • Shoulder Cannon: The water nozzles from the Fire Truck Zord forms twin shoulder cannons for the Flash Point Megazord.

     BattleFleet Megazord

BattleFleet Megazord

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/proo_battlefleet_megazord.webp
The fourth Megazord set created by Hartford. It consists of five BattleFleet Zords.
  • Awesome Personnel Carrier: The combined BattleFleet Zords form a gigantic Battleship Formation. In this formation, the Drivemax Megazord can ride on it, which is referred to as Operation Overdrive Arsenal Ready.
  • Bare-Fisted Monk: The BattleFleet Megazord lacks weapons, but with the power of its fists, it does not really need any.
  • Combining Mecha: The five individual BattleFleet Zords can combine to form the Megazord or the gigantic Battleship Formation.
  • Finishing Move:
    • BattleFleet Megazord: Battlefleet Rollers: The Megazord uses its' gigantic fists to deliver two high-powered spinning punches before pushing both together and deliver a finishing thrust.
    • Operation Overdrive Arsenal Ready: The Drivemax Megazord summons the Sentinel Sword and the blade with green energy before performing a devastating energy slash.
  • Leader Forms the Head: BattleFleet Zord 14 forms the head of the Megazord despite being the smallest of them all.

Allies

    Andrew Hartford

Andrew Hartford | (Actor: Rod Lousich)

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/andrew_hartford.jpg

An archaeologist, billionaire, inventor, and industrialist, along with being a father to Mack. After accidentally releasing Fulrious and Moltor, he put together the Overdrive Rangers providing them with their powers, weapons, and Zords. He originally planned to be the Red Ranger but allowed Mack to join after the latter proved himself in the first battle.

  • Big Good: Shares the role with the Sentinel Knight of being the one to brief them of the arrival of potential threats and assign them missions.
  • Composite Character: He has attributes of Mister Voice, the Boukengers' mentor and Big Good, and also of Kouichi Akashi, Bouken Red's father that appears only in Boukenger's summer movie.
  • Fatherly Scientist: Probably the most literal version of this trope. He built Mac specifically so that he could be a father.
  • Omnidisciplinary Scientist: He's well-versed in a number of scientific fields, as exemplified by the machine he personally built to alter the Rangers' DNA to give them powers and Mac himself, who is a robot he created to be he son.
  • Knight Templar Parent: He's kept Mack shut-in almost his whole life, because he didn't want to see him get hurt. Another reason is he's afraid he'll malfunction while going out.
  • They Call Me MISTER Tibbs!: Prefers "Andrew" to "Mr. Hartford". After Mack discovers he's an android, he refers to him as "Mr. Hartford".
  • Rebuilt Pedestal: Mack loses admiration for his father in "Things Not Said" when it turns out that he's an android and his father lied about his past. Not helped in the next episode when trying to mend his damaged relationship with his son, Andrew comments that Mack seemed "almost human" when he became a Ranger. Making this worse, Mack begins referring to his father as "Mr. Hartford" and starts to think he'd replace or reprogram him. However, in the finale "Crown and Punishment", when Flurious threatens Mack in exchange for the Corona Aurora, Hartford surrenders it. Realizing his father really does care for him, Mack reaffirms his love for him and calls his "Dad" again.
  • Renaissance Man: He's an archaeologist, Omnidisciplinary Scientist, billionaire, and even owns a movie studio.
  • Truly Single Parent: Working as an archaeologist, scientist, billionaire and owning a movie studio, it's no wonder he had no time to meet the right woman.
Mack: Then why didn't you just make one of those too?!
    • Becomes this for real at the end, when Mack becomes a flesh and blood human.
  • Walking Spoiler: Responsible for Mack's Walking Spoiler secret.
  • What Measure Is a Non-Human?: Unlike Mac once he discovers the truth about himself, he treats his son like a living person.

    Spencer

Spencer | (Actor: David Weatherley)

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/oo_spencer.jpg

The Hartfords' butler and Mack's best friend. Spencer served as the team's moral guider.

  • Intergenerational Friendship: Because the two of them often worked on the zords together, he and Rose get along pretty well. He is also very close to Mack as the two were inseparable at the beginning.
  • The Jeeves: The Hartford's butler.
  • Master of Disguise: Even capable of disguising himself as Ronny to fool a perverted Loki.
  • Mentor Archetype: While Mr. Hartford is the one who united the group and gives them their mission, Spencer is the one who helps rangers deal with their issues and offers wisdom to snap them out of it.
  • Number Two: While Hartford might be the mission coordinator, Spencer was always there to help with the running of the base.
  • Servile Snarker
    Rose: You're the best, Spencer!
Spencer: If only my paycheck reflected that.

    Sentinel Knight

Sentinel Knight | (Voice actor: Nic Sampson)

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/sentinelknightbattle.jpg

An ancient knight who was the original keeper of the Corona Aurora jewels and the crown. After Flurious and Moltor awoke once more, his spirit gave Andrew Hartford the mission to find the jewels. Midway through the season, he fused with the Excelsior sword, not only reviving him but now allowing him to fight with the Rangers.

  • Adaptational Early Appearance: In Boukenger, Zuuban appeared in the second half of the season. But here, the Sentinel Knight has appeared since the beginning of the season.
  • Adaptational Intelligence: While Zuuban could only say his name, the Sentinel Knight is capable of speaking full sentences.
  • Ascended Extra: Has more of a role and personality compared to his counterpart Zuuban, who was basically just a mascot character.
  • Big Good: Alongside Andrew, he briefs the Rangers about on-going conflicts and assigns them missions.
  • Cool Sword: He ends up possessing the Excelsior, and can even turn himself into said sword for the Rangers to use.
  • Knight in Shining Armor: He embodies this trope.
  • Super Re-Powering: He gives Mack the mid-season power-up.

    Norg

Norg | (Actor: Kelson Henderson)

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/22_29.JPG

A kind-hearted yeti monster that lives in the ice cave Flurious set his base in.

  • Bigfoot, Sasquatch, and Yeti: Looks like a large Yeti-like creature.
  • Butt-Monkey: He can't get a moment of peace without being abuse by Flurious or getting himself hurt randomly.
  • Crouching Moron, Hidden Badass: Last episode shows he's actually a capable fighter.
  • The Ditz: He's not very bright, and has trouble following Flurious's orders without messing something up the first time.
  • Horrible Judge of Character: Thinks he and Flurious are friends.
  • Kindhearted Simpleton: This sums up Norg perfectly.
  • Minion with an F in Evil: He's so pitiful, even the Rangers don't consider him an evil threat at all and usually leave him alone as a result.
  • Nice Guy: Even though he works for Flurious, he's actually a kindhearted yeti who has no desire to hurt people and only works for Flurious because he is too naive to see his "friend" is actually a monster. In fact, he actually helps the rangers more than he does for Flurious.
  • The Woobie: The verbal abuse Flurious levels at him constantly, it's hard not to feel a little sorry for the guy.

    Retro Rangers

Retro Rangers

Adam Park portrayed by: Johnny Yong Bosch
Tori Hanson portrayed by: Sally Martin
Kira Ford portrayed by: Emma Lahana
Bridge Carson portrayed by: Matt Austin
Xander Bly portrayed by: Richard Brancatisano

When Thrax destroyed the Overdrive Ranger's powers, the Sentinel Knight recruited five past Rangers to act as a temporary team.

  • Always Someone Better: At least how the Overdrive Rangers feel, as to them, the Retro Rangers were brought in as replacements. However, the old Rangers don't lord their experience over them and know that their Powers will return eventually.
  • Badass Normal: Adam as he is the only Ranger not to have civilian powers to fight evil with. Bridge zigzags this as while he had his aura reading powers, they're not useful in a fight.
  • The Bus Came Back: Naturally for returning Rangers, although Adam came back for the first time since In Space.
  • Rank Up: Sometime after the S.P.D. finale, Bridge was promoted to the Red Ranger of B-Squad after Sky was promoted to Commander of the Earth Branch and Cruger was promoted to the Supreme Commander of S.P.D. after Birdie retired.
  • Re-Power: Most of them lost their powers at different points of their seasons (with the exception of Bridge as the S.P.D. powers were never destroyed at the end of his season). But thanks to the Sentinel Knight, the powers that were destroyed were restored and they can all morph.
  • Vocal Evolution: Adam's last appearance was back during Power Rangers in Space, over nine years ago. In those nine years, Johnny Yong Bosch started voice acting for dubbed anime, resulting in Adam sounding a lot more Hot-Blooded than previous appearances.

Villains

    In General
  • Adapted Out:
    • Gekkou of Illusions was the only major Boukenger antagonist not adapted to Operation Overdrive in any way.
    • The different villain groups in Boukenger had its members or Monster of the Week usually following a Theme based on past sentais (Dark Shadow were themed after Kakuranger, Jaryuu Clan were themed after either Dinosaur-themed sentai(i.e. Zyuranger, Abaranger) or Dragon-themed mechas from older series(i.e Daijinryu from Dairanger) and so on). This wasn't carried over into the show because of monsters based on mechas with no PR counterpart or some monsters working for a different faction compared to their sentai counterparts.
  • Big Bad Ensemble: They're all after the Corona Aurora jewels, but each have their own agendas and are as likely to fight each other as they are the Rangers to gain the advantage.
  • Evil Versus Evil: In addition to fighting the Rangers, the villain factions tend to fight against each other in order to get a leg up in the Corona Aurora race. It's very rare for temporary alliances to last two episodes.
  • Foil: Each villain faction has differences from the other.
    • Flurious has an army of Chillers at his disposal, but no monsters. He's also the least likely to get involved.
    • Kamdor can create monsters and grow them but lacks the foot soldiers to help them out. Being ninja, him and Miratrix will often sneak their way in and will often have a major artifact before anyone else even knows they're there.
    • The Fear Cats have no monsters or foot soldiers, but they make up for it with their own skills and can pilot Zords of their own to fight against the Rangers.
    • Moltar is the more balanced as he has his own monsters, his own Zords, and his own foot soldiers. The only thing he doesn't do is grow the monsters. He's also the most active of the villains, both because of his impatience and because he has the most resources of all the factions.
  • Mythology Gag: Like the monsters, the villains resemble old Megazords due to the Boukenger footage, with Thrax and Miratrix being the exceptions(though in Miratrix's case, this is because her monster form is based off Jet Garuda from Choujin Sentai Jetman, which wasn't adapted into a PR season).
  • Related in the Adaptation: Flurious and Moltor are siblings, unlike Gajah and Ryuuwon who are unrelated at all.

Faction Leaders

    Flurious

Flurious | (Actor: Gerald Urquhart)

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/oo_flurious.jpg

An ice warrior and the brother to Moltor. Flurious re-awoke after Andrew Hartford claimed the crown, and began searching for the Corona Aurora jewels while fighting against the Rangers and his brother.

  • Affably Evil: He's seems very calm and polite towards anyone shows up to his ice den and welcomes them even his enemies especially when he's on a good mood. For example, when Kamdor appears in the ice den Flurious praise him in a calm tone for giving such an entrance and simply agree forming alliance with him and once he finally found all the jewels of the Corona Aurora, he thanked Mr. Hartford for making it easy for him to achieve before he orders his Chillers to kill him and the others.
  • An Ice Person: Pretty obvious when you see him.
  • Bad Boss: He doesn't seem to care about safety of his army and treated them as they were tools to him, especially Norg. Sometimes he rarely praised them when they succeeded his instructions and proved themselves worthy to him, but that's still not going to make him a good boss to any of them.
  • Cain and Abel: With Moltor; which ultimately results in Flurious killing him.
  • Canon Immigrant: His look was created for the series. His indirect Japanese counterpart's form is used when Flurious wears the Corona Aurora.
  • The Chessmaster: His strategy of sitting back and manipulating from the shadows worked out in his favor, as all of the other factions were defeated, leaving him to become the Final Boss.
  • Death by Adaptation: His counterpart Gaja was one of the few Sentai villains to actually survive the series. Flurious isn't so lucky.
  • Evil Sounds Deep: Has a very deep voice, it suits him well for his cold demeanor.
  • Expy: Of Emperor Gruumm.
  • Final Boss: The last villain to face the rangers after the others are defeated. Amplified by the power of the Corona Aurora.
  • Fire/Ice Duo: He's the icy brother and rival to Moltor.
  • Lack of Empathy: He does not care whoever he destroys nor anyone who judges him to his actions, even if you're Moltor. All that matters to him that he has all the fun while nobody can. Furthermore, Flurious often abuses Norg for no reason.
  • Large Ham: He shouts in anger.
  • Magic Staff: A destructive and powerful staff made out of ice as his primary weapon, quite suitable for him as he is An Ice Person to begin with.
  • Mythology Gag: His One-Winged Angel form shares some appearances from the Super Zeo Megazord.
  • One-Winged Angel: When he finally gets his hands on the Corona Aurora.
  • Orcus on His Throne: Which actually works for him - the rest of the Big Bad Ensemble gets picked off one by one, while he stays safe in his fortress. And, once the rangers have collected all the jewels of the Corona Aurora he sweeps in and steals them all at once, allowing him to become the Final Boss of the series.
  • Mythology Gag: His One-Winged Angel form resembles the Super Zeo Megazord from Zeo.
  • Red Oni, Blue Oni: The blue to Moltor's red.
  • Sealed Evil in a Can: He was sealed inside a lifeless planet, one of extreme cold, when he tried to grab the season's MacGuffin, and freed when said MacGuffin was discovered on Earth.
  • The Sociopath: If manipulating the rest of the enemies of Overdrive Rangers and his treatment of Norg doesn’t certify him as one, then brutally and carelessly killing his own brother just when he wanted to make peace with him is.
  • Spikes of Villainy: Both of his shoulders has spikes in him, his icy hair is also rather spikey as well.
  • This Cannot Be!: His reaction to the Overdrive Rangers losing to the Fearcats' creation, Agrios.
  • Ungrateful Bastard: In "Two Fallen Foes", Norg manages to bring Flurious the Blue Sapphire from Kamdor's lair. Flurious shows the yeti no gratitude at all for this achievement.
  • We Can Rule Together: After the Fearcats were destroyed by the Rangers, Flurious offers his brother Moltor a one time only deal to join his army and he denied it. Flurious will remember it and told him he will regret that decision, which he is indeed truthful to his words at the end because Moltor got his volcano base completely destroyed and appears in the ice den, where Flurious killed him.
  • You Have Failed Me: After Norg failed to track down the Fearcats to see what they were up to, Flurious gives him his last words before blasted him away from life for failing him one last time, Norg mentions something about the Octavian Chalice that the Fearcats are planning to get, he lets Norg lived to see another day for it.
  • You Have Outlived Your Usefulness: Decided to have Norg and Vella executed by his Chillers after he got his hands on all the jewels of the Corona Aurora.

    Moltor

Moltor | (Voice actor: Mark Ferguson, David Lodge (Power Rangers: Super Legends))

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/hqdefault_14.jpg

A fire warrior and the brother to Flurious. Moltor re-awoke after Andrew Hartford claimed the crown, and began searching for the Corona Aurora jewels while fighting against the Rangers and his brother.

  • Adapted Out: Sort of. Super Megaforce did not adapt his resurrection as an undead from the Boukenger tribute in Gokaiger.
  • Berserk Button: He gets extremely angry when someone bring up his little red sled that Flurious broke when they were kids.
  • Cain and Abel: With Flurious, with him ultimately ended up getting shredded to pieces by Flurious.
  • Cool Swords: His fire-themed dual swords, can create destructive sword beams and lightning base attacks.
  • Dies Different In Adaptation: His Sentai counterpart dies when the rangers' home base explodes with him inside after pulling a Redemption Rejection when the red ranger tries to redeem him. Here, he's destroyed by Flurious.
  • Dual Wielding: His twin swords.
  • Fire/Ice Duo: He's the fiery brother and rival to Flurious.
  • Flaming Swords: He can heat up both of his swords to cause some extra damage against his enemies.
  • The Heavy: The most active villain and the one who causes the most trouble to the Rangers.
  • Large Ham: Similar to his brother, Flurious.
  • Make My Monster Grow: At one point, he shot a dart at Bullox to make him grow. Otherwise, his monsters grow on their own.
  • Mythology Gag: His design is based on the very first Megazord.
  • Petty Childhood Grudge: "Follow the Ranger" implies that Moltor resents Flurious because Flurious broke his sled when they were children.
  • Playing with Fire: He can shoot fire, ignite his sword and he and his monsters are all fire-themed.
  • Pre-Final Boss: He's last of the villain faction leader the Overdrive Rangers have defeated before facing the Final Boss, Flurious.
  • Red Oni, Blue Oni: The red to Flurious' blue.
  • Sealed Evil in a Can: He was sealed inside a lifeless planet, one of extreme heat, when he tried to grab the season's MacGuffin, and freed when said MacGuffin was discovered on Earth.
  • Sword Beam: He can use his dual swords as projectiles by releasing powerful slash beams to his enemies.
  • The Rival: Arguably to Mack; more clearly to his brother Flurious.
  • We Can Rule Together:
    • When Tyzonn traveling around the Earth, he shows up out of nowhere to tell him to join his army for his power, but Tyzonn refuses to join him and Moltor turns him into a monster to force him to do his bidding.
    • After his volcano base is destroyed, he realizes that Flurious was right about offer of joining him so he goes to his brother's ice den to recover and begs him to team up... It didn't go pretty well for him as he was destroyed by Flurious after giving him the Corona Aurora and Vella as hostage for Tyzonn.

    Kamdor

Kamdor | (Voice actor: Adam Gardiner)

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/hqdefault_659.jpg

A blue ninja-like cyborg warrior and a ruthless warlord. He was originally trapped in a blue gem necklace, but after being freed, he and Miratrix went searching for the Corona Aurora jewels.

  • Adaptational Nice Guy: As cruel as Kamdor is, at least he isn't a darkness-obsessed maniac who wants to corrupt Will. Yaiba also never had an Even Bad Men Love Their Mamas moment.
  • Arch-Enemy: To Will.
  • The Bad Guy Wins: He and Miratrix get the third jewel.
  • Composite Character: Uses Yaiba's suit, but also shares Gekkou of Illusion's role as the ruler of his faction.
  • Dual Wielding: Wields two swords.
  • Even Bad Men Love Their Mamas: When Will sees his face in "Two Fallen Foes".
Will: That's a face only a mother would love.
Kamdor: Leave my mother out of this!
  • Hypocrite: After failing him too many times, Kamdor calls Miratrix greedy as part of his "The Reason You Suck" Speech towards her, even though he's arguably the greediest villain in the show.
  • Knight of Cerebus: He is darker and has fewer redeeming traits than the likes of Flurious and Moltor.
  • Make My Monster Grow: Unlike the other factions, he's able to make his monsters grow with his magic.
  • Mythology Gag: His design bears more than a passing resemblance to the Shogun Megazord from MMPR Season 3.
  • Ninja: He and Miratrix use ninja-like skills and magic in battle.
  • The Rival: To Will.
  • Sealed Evil in a Can: He is initially sealed in a blue gem necklace until he is freed with a stolen device by his partner Miratrix.
  • Single-Stroke Battle: With Will, who ends up killing Kamdor this way.
  • The Sociopath: Outside the above case of his mother, he is a dark and humorless megalomaniac defined by treachery and greed. He terrified even Flurious and not even his servant Miratrix is safe from his backstabbing.
  • Token Evil Teammate: While the rest of the villains are no saints either, they at least had some comedic moments or care for one another, whereas Kamdor has absolutely neither of those traits.
  • You Have Failed Me: He exiles Miratrix for failing him too many times.
  • You Have Outlived Your Usefulness: His response to Miratrix failing to defeat the Rangers for the final time is revealing to her that he only used her, as well as sealing her away in the same jewel he was once trapped in.

    Miratrix

Miratrix | (Actress: Ria Vandervis)

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/miratrix.jpg

Kamdor's loyal servant.

  • Adaptational Seriousness: While Shizuka is a childish Genki Girl, Miratrix is a lot more serious.
  • Adaptational Villainy: Compared to perky Punch-Clock Villain Shizuka, she's noticeably more evil. She's actually shared her role and personality with her.
  • Airplane Arms: When carrying her swords.
  • Ambiguously Human: It's never said if she's a human from another world or just an alien who looks human, both are probable in Power Rangers.
  • And I Must Scream: Her ultimate fate, imprisoned in the same jewel that Kamdor was originally in.
  • The Baroness: The Sexpot variety, for Dax and Will anyway.
  • Canon Immigrant: She was created exclusively for the series, yet has a similar role to her indirect counterpart in Boukenger.
  • Composite Character: He One-Winged Angel form was a monster unrelated to Shizuka at all. Shizuka's actual powered-up form was adapted as Kunoichi Monster.
  • Dark Action Girl: A female villain who is also a good fighter.
  • The Dragon: Kamdor's right-hand lady.
  • Decomposite Character:While she uses the monster form of Gekkou of Illusions from Boukenger, Kamdor is the one who leads their faction.
  • Expy:
    • Arguably one to Scorpina as both are powerful warriors who served under the villains and disguised as the girlfriends of the Rangers, tricked them immediately. They also transformed into monsters to fight the Rangers during the final battles.
    • Despite compared to her Boukenger counterpart, she also akin to Doldora, being a mistress of disguise who transformed into a monster in the finale and then, Miratrix is capable bitch than Doldora was, and she doing right to fight the Overdrive Rangers and gets more jewels to becoming powerful by herself, failed multiple times to trapped in the Jewel of Darkness by her master and making her to be disappointed.
  • I Never Said It Was Poison: Her plan in "Heart of Blue" was ruined because she unintentionally mentioned the jewels with Dax, but he never told her his mission.
  • Mistreatment-Induced Betrayal / The Starscream: After Kamdor berates her and calls her worthless, she decides to go this route. Unfortunately, it doesn't last long. See And I Must Scream.
  • The Mole: Faked a Meet Cute with Dax to infiltrate the mansion and get her hands on a scroll to lead to one of the jewels.
  • Ninja: Like her master Kamdor.
  • '20s Bob Haircut: Middle of the season, she replaces her old hairstyle with a bobcut, though her hair is still long because of a ponytail in the back. (It's said this change was because her actress didn't like the previous hairstyle)
  • What Happened to the Mouse?: It's never clear if the jewel Kamdor imprisoned her in was put away in his lair or was with him when he was destroyed, thus taking Miratrix with him. Either way, the Rangers are unlikely to find out for sure as long as she's no longer a threat.

    The Fearcats (Mig & Benglo)

The Fearcats

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/mig_benglo_cyborgs.jpg

Voiced by: Kelson Henderson (Mig)
Voiced by: David Weatherley (Benglo)
A race of feline aliens. The main two were the lion-themed Mig and the Bengal tiger-themed Benglo. They seek out to destroy the Earth on their own volition. After being defeated by the Rangers, they were upgraded into robotic bodies thanks to Flurious.
  • Adapted Out: Their Boukenger counterparts were powered by devices that countered the power source of the main five Boukengers' suits, allowing them to use their energy to weaken their foes. Here, there is nothing to suggest that the Gyros have any such effect on the Rangers,
  • Always Chaotic Evil: Unlike the other factions, they have no interest in ruling the universe. They just want aimless destruction and to use the Corona Aurora to be unstoppable.
  • Arch-Enemy: They are personal enemies for Tyzonn, given their past encounter with him.
  • Ax-Crazy: All of them, but special mention goes to Crazar, who actually carries an axe.
  • The Brute: Benglo, the field commander of the Feacats.
  • Cats Are Mean: Big understatement.
  • Cyborg: Thanks to Flurious, they gain new robotic bodies that enhance their strength.
  • Dies Differently in Adaptation: Benglo's Boukenger counterpart was destroyed by the Dual crusher (the Drill Blaster), but in Power Rangers, he was destroyed by the Red Sentinel Ranger.
  • The Dragon: Benglo is the team's second-in-command.
  • Dual Wielding: In his cyborg form, Mig wielded twin sword blasters
  • Half the Man He Used to Be: Tyzonn kills Mig by cutting him in half.
  • Humongous Mecha: They usually use giant robots in place of minions and giant monsters.
  • Karmic Death: Mig gets brutally sliced in half by Tyzonn out of revenge for attempting to use his trauma of losing his girlfriend against him via Crazar.
  • King of Beasts: The lion-themed Mig serves as the team's leader.
  • The Leader: Mig.
  • Make My Monster Grow: They can grow giant-sized by ripping open their bodies and unleashing their giant forms. After being converted into cyborgs, they lose this ability.
  • Mythology Gag: They resemble the zords/Megazord from MMPR S2:
    • Mig's regular form is based off the Red Dragon thunderzord's humanoid form, while his cyborg form is based off the Thunder Megazord.
    • Benglo's regular form is based on the Tigerzord while his cyborg form is based on the Mega Tigerzord instead.
  • Non-Standard Character Design: Unlike the other members, Crazar is themed after a wolf rather than a big cat. This is due to her Boukenger counterpart being of a separate tribe from the rest of the Ashu.
  • Sealed Evil in a Can: The "Prison Mirror" contains an army of Fearcats, but was destroyed with only Benglo escaping.
  • The Rival(s): To Tyzonn
  • The Smurfette Principle: Crazar is the only female general of the Fearcats.
  • Villain Forgot to Level Grind: At first, only the Mercury Ranger could beat them in a fight. Until "Once A Ranger", the other five barely survive battling them. Fortunately, while the Fearcats spend more time building robots, the Rangers become more skilled and manage to do better in battle.
  • Violent Glaswegian: Mig talks in a Scottish accent.

    Thrax

Thrax | (Actor: Glen Levy)

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/thrax_power_rangers.jpg

The son of Rita and Zedd. Thrax was sealed in a space dumpster like his mother thanks to the Sentinal Knight. However, he broke free from his prison and gathered the other villain factions to an alliance to defeat the Rangers for good.

  • Avenging the Villain: He wants to avenge his parents' "succumb to goodness."
  • Crossover Villain-in-Chief: The primary enemy in "Once a Ranger" who leads the villains, making it the only time in the series that all of the factions work together.
  • Enfant Terrible: Assuming that he was conceived after Rita and Zedd married, he could only have been born sometime between nine and ten years prior, presumably around Power Rangers Turbo.
  • Evil Sounds Deep: He is a villain with a deep voice.
  • Expy: Of Kai, the son of Bandora (Rita), from Kyōryū Sentai Zyuranger and Akomaru, the son of Shadam (Zedd) from Gosei Sentai Dairanger.
  • Overlord Jr.: He is Lord Zedd's son.
  • Sealed Evil in a Can: He was sealed away by the Sentinel Knight before eventually breaking free prior to the events of "Once a Ranger".
  • The Man Behind the Man: For all of two episodes.
  • Two-Faced: His face is asymmetrical.
  • Younger Than They Look: Considering he must have been born after Zedd and Rita got together, but before they were turned good by the Z-Wave, he was most likely born during Turbo, meaning he has to be at most nine to ten years old. However, he looks to be an adult. However, if we figure that he was born and sealed away before the Sentinal Knight became a spirit, than he's older than he looks, much like his mom (as we only briefly see Zedd's human form towards the end of Countdown to Destruction).

Mooks & Monsters

    Chillers

Chillers

Humanoid ice monsters that serve as Flurious' foot soldiers.
  • Adaptation Species Change: The Chiller's were originally made out of stone in Boukenger, but were turn into ice beings to fit Flurious' theme.

  • Mooks: They are Moltor's usual flunkies.
  • Mook Mobile: They have Lavadactyls as zords.
  • Mythology Gag: Their appearance resembles the Dragonzord from MMPR.
    The Monsters and Others

In General:

  • Adapted Out: Dembey, Desperado, Prometheus' Stone, and Vril were not adapted.
  • Mythology Gag: The monsters resemble old Megazord designs whether intentional or not. This was carried over from Boukenger, which was the 30th Super Sentai and they wanted to honor it with the design of the monsters. Because this obviously includes the robots of Sentai seasons that weren't adapted into Power Rangers, it results in some monsters who don't seem to be based off existing Zords.

Giant Sea Creature

A giant cybernetic Plesiosaurus-like monster summoned by Moltor.
  • Adaptation Species Change: Downplayed. It was originally a giant mecha in Boukenger, but in Power Rangers, it was changed to an actual monster.
  • Mythology Gag: His design is based on Titanus from MMPR, particularly the head design and his cannons.
  • Shoulder Cannon: Has two huge cannons on both of his shoulders.
  • Starter Villain: The first Monster of the Week in Operation Overdrive and the first monster defeated by the Megazord this season.
  • Taking You with Me: He tried to envoke this after being struck by the Drivemax Megazord's saber, but the Rangers kicked him away before he blew up.
  • The Voiceless: Did not speak at all.

Atlantis Temple

A massive temple-like monster Flurious made from the temple the Rangers went to for the ancient scroll.

Ultrog

Voiced by: Richard Simpson
A keylock/laser disc-themed monster that helped Miratrix gather the two remaining ancient scrolls.
  • Chest Blaster: Can fire a stream of blue energy from his chest.
  • Martial Arts Staff: With the two Scrolls of Neptune, Ultrog can create the Lightning Rod.
  • Mythology Gag: His design is based off the Storm Megazord from Ninja Storm. Driving the point home further, Ultrog's final words were "Aah! Locked and dropped!" which refers to the Ninja Storm Rangers' phrase when using the Power Disc System: "Power Disc, locked and dropped."
  • This Is a Drill: Has one on his right arm.
  • The Worf Effect: With the two scrolls, Ultrog was unstoppable against the Rangers. But when Spencer gave the Rangers the third scroll, they used it to grab the two scrolls, leaving Ultrog defenseless.

Weather Machine Monster

A robotic monster that came from a malfunctioning weather machine Moltor created.
  • Adaptation Species Change: The Weather Machine Monster's Boukenger counterpart was a Precious (artifacts with extraordinary powers), but here, it's a machine.
  • An Ice Person: Its main ability after going haywire.
  • Attack Its Weak Point: The machine could be destroyed if its blowhole chest is struck enough times.
  • Blade Below the Shoulder: Has an ice lance on his right arm, and an ice blade on his left arm.
  • Mythology Gag: Bears a resemblance to both the Blizzard Force Megazord/Replicantazord and the Thundersaurus Megazord, both from Dino Thunder. It's particularly noticeable in the arms and legs.
  • Irony: An ice themed monster is created by the fire themed antagonist Moltor.
  • Transforming Mecha: Could change from weather machine to a humanoid form.
  • Weather Manipulation: As the weather machine, it could create huge storms and heatwaves.
  • The Voiceless: Did not speak at all.

Bombardo

Voiced by: Adam Gardiner
An arquebus/factory-theme monster created from a pirate cannon by Kamdor. He was sent to take the Eye of the Sea.

  • Shoulder Cannon: Sports a cannon on his left shoulder.
  • Tank Goodness: Its alt form is a buzzsaw tank.

Volkan

Voiced by: James Gaylyn
A humanoid bulky Salamander/Lava Lizard-like monster Moltor created from a powerful Lava Lizard.
  • Attack Its Weak Point: His back is his weakness.
  • Bare-Fisted Monk: Used his fists in lieu of weapons.
  • Death by Irony: Was sent by Moltor to steal the Fire Heart Scale from the Rangers, only for him to be destroyed by the Rangers with the scale empowering their arsenal.
  • Elite Mook: Essentially, he's a stronger version of a Lava Lizard.
  • Made of Iron: Has an armor so durable, that not even the Drive Slammer and Drive Claws can make a scratch.
  • Mythology Gag: His design is based off the Galaxy Megazord from Lost Galaxy (particularly the shoulders, arms and head).
  • Playing with Fire: Can throw fireballs from his hands.

Big Mouth Monster

Voiced by: Mark Williams
A robotic frog, purse, and vacuum cleaner-like monster Kamdor created from a blue purse.
  • All There in the Manual: He never had his name said on screen. It is only in the credits where he is named.
  • Mythology Gag: His design (particularly the upper body) is based off Artillatron from Turbo.
  • We Need a Distraction: Kamdor created him to distract the Rangers while Miratrix sought after the loose Hou-ou bird.

Scaletex

Voiced by: Patrick Kake
A humanoid armored Lindworm-like monster Moltor summoned to take the ancient parchment from Kamdor and Miratrix.
  • Adapted Out: Never used his tail to attack the Rangers like his Sentai counterpart did.
  • Demoted to Extra: Had his own episode in Boukenger, only to share an episode with the two below.
  • Dies Differently in Adaptation: In Boukenger, he was destroyed by the Rangers in Super DaiBouken. In Power Rangers, he was destroyed by a cave-in caused by Kamdor and Miratrix.
  • Mythology Gag: His design looks similar to the Dragonzord Fighting mode from MMPR.
  • Playing with Fire: Can spew flames from his mouth.
  • Shock and Awe: Can fire lightning from his chest. He can also use lightning to empower himself.
  • Wolverine Claws: Possesses powerful claws for combat.

Camera Monster

A monster Kamdor created from a camera.

Amplifier Monster

A fire stove bellow/speaker-themed monster Kamdor created from a large speaker.
  • Arm Cannon: Sports one on his right arm.
  • Dies Differently in Adaptation: In Boukenger, he was destroyed by the Rangers in Super DaiBouken. In Power Rangers, he was destroyed by Dax in the Transtek Armor.
  • Make Some Noise: Could emit soundwaves from his cannons.
  • Mythology Gag: He resembles the Quantasaurus Megazord from Time Force (he even has a cannon on his right shoulder like the aforementioned Megazord).
  • Shoulder Cannon: As noted above, he sports a cannon on his right shoulder.
  • Those Two Guys: With Camera Monster.
  • The Voiceless: Did not speak.

Tyzonn

Voiced by: Dwayne Cameron
When Tyzonn came to Earth, Moltor forcibly turned him into a Pachycephalosaurus/dragon-like monster in order to grab the ancient parchment.
  • Head Blast: Could fire white colored lightning beams from his forehead.
  • Foil: To Kat/Katastrophe from Mighty Morphin Season 3. Both were turned into monsters by the main antagonists of the show and eventually joined the Rangers afterwards. The difference is that Kat was Brainwashed and Crazy at the time and had no problems getting turned into a monster, while Tyzonn was forced into becoming a monster as he was still good.
  • Mythology Gag: Tyzonn's monster form bears a resemblance to the Time Force Megazord mode Red from Time Force.
  • Token Good Teammate: For Moltor's forces. It helps that Tyzonn was already a good person before meeting the Rangers.

Bullox

Voiced by: Will Wallace
A Naga/Ox-like monster.
  • Big "NO!": Let one out when the Drivemax Ultrazord defeated him.
  • Brutish Bulls: An evil ox monster.
  • Magic Staff: Wields a Bull Scepter which can create lasers, fireballs, and allows him to teleport.
  • Meaningful Name: His name is the combination of bull and ox, fitting for his animal theme.
  • Mythology Gag: His design is based off the Defender Torozord from Lost Galaxy.
  • Playing with Fire: Capable of breathing strong flames from his mouth.
  • Use Your Head: Could attack with his bull horns.
  • The Worf Effect: Was winning against the Rangers' Super Drivemax Megazord, only for himself to lose against the Drivemax Ultrazord.

Cheetar

Voiced by: Will Wallace
A cheetah-themed monster and a Fearcat that was first seen with Mig.
  • Flat Character: Doesn't have much of a personality as he's the least seen Fearcat out of the four that appeared.

Vulturus

Voiced by: Campbell Cooley
A vulture/dragon-like monster created by Thrax for use in his evil alliance.
  • Adaptational Nationality: In Boukenger, he was Lemurian Civilization (coincidentally, it was also where the Yellow Ranger's sentai counterpart was from). In Power Rangers, he was under Thrax's leadership.
  • Dies Differently in Adaptation: How his final fate went. In Boukenger, he was destroyed by Ultimate DaiBouken and Zuuban (the Sentinel Knight's sentai counterpart). In Power Rangers, he was destroyed by the Mercury Ranger.
  • Mythology Gag: Both forms are based off Megazords from Mystic Force: his first form is based off the Manticore Megazord and his second form is based off the Titan Megazord.
  • Power-Up Letdown: After his first defeat, Flurious used a gyro to power him up into Vulturus Maximus. However, he was no match for the Mercury Ranger.
  • Wolverine Claws: Sports claws as weapons.

An amulet/computer monster Kamdor created from a computer. He was used to upload a virus and locate the Star of Isis.

A bowling ball and junk themed monster, and one of the final five monsters Kamdor created in his quest for the Star of Isis.
  • Adaptational Villainy: His Boukenger counterpart was actually a nice person, and befriended Eiji (Tyzonn's sentai counterpart). None of this applies to Garbage Warrior.
  • Death by Adaptation: Unlike his Boukenranger counterpart, who survived his episode, he died at the hands of the Red Sentinel Ranger in Power Rangers.

Kunoichi Monster

A female winged kunoichi monster and one of the final five monsters Kamdor created in his quest for the Star of Isis.
  • Decomposite Character: She was originally Shizuka of the Wind's Super mode in Boukenger (Miratrix's sentai counterpart). Her, she's unrelated to Miratrix, who has a different super form.

  • Dies Differently in Adaptation: In Boukenger, he was destroyed by GoGo Marine riding SirenBuilder's water stream. In Power Rangers, he died at the hands of the Red Sentinal Ranger.

  • The Voiceless: Did not speak except for grunting.

Crazar

Voiced by: Lori Dungey
A white lynx-like monster, and the fourth Fearcat that appeared.

Magmador

Voiced by: Mark Wright
A Styracosaurus/dragon-like monster Moltor created to locate the key of three dragons in Japan.
  • Blade Below the Shoulder: What his right arm was after looking at the Ranger's Drive Sabers.
  • Mythology Gag: His design bears a resemblance to the Mezodon Megazord from Dino Thunder.
  • Playing with Fire: Can breathe out super strong fireballs from his mouth.
  • Shapeshifter Weapon: By simply looking at the Rangers' weapons, Magmador can change his right arm into corrupt copies of them. He did this for Will's Drive Slammer and Ronny's Drive Claws.
  • Wolverine Claws: What his right arm was after looking at Ronny's Drive Claws.

    Evil Zords

In General:

  • Adapted Out: Quester Robo Cannon and Quester Robo Radial are the only Mecha not to be adapted.
  • Mythology Gag: Like the monsters, the Zords the villains use resemble Megazords due to the Boukenger footage.

Moltor's Zord

A rhino-like cybernetic zord Moltor created along with Dragonizer.
  • The Brute: The strongest of the two zords Moltor created.
  • Gatling Good: Has two Gatling guns on its shoulders.
  • Mythology Gag: The zord resembles the Centaurus Megazord from Lost Galaxy.
  • The Worf Effect: Was strong against the Drivemax Megazord, but lost out against the Super Drivemax Megazord.

Dragonizer

A Pterodactylus/dragon-like cybernetic zord Moltor created along with the other Moltor's Zord.
  • Battle Boomerang: Its main weapon is a boomerang.
  • Mythology Gag: Its design is based off the Stratoforce Megazord from Lost Galaxy. It also uses a boomerang in battle just like the aforementioned zord.
  • Shock and Awe: It can generate lightning from its jaws and its boomerang.
  • Wolverine Claws: Can use its claws.
  • The Worf Effect: Was strong against the Drivemax Megazord, but lost out against the Super Drivemax Megazord.

Flurious' Robot

An ice-themed zord that was created by Flurious, only to be hijacked by the Fear Cats.
  • BFG: Wields the Cannon of Kiamook, which can either fire a devastating blast of orange-colored fireballs, be used to block other attacks, or be used as a handheld weapon in a similar manner to a baton.
  • Chest Blaster: Can fire energy blasts from the three lights located on its chest.
  • Dig Attack: Has the ability to go underground and attack in the dirt.

Jet Robot

A jet-themed zord piloted by the Fear Cats.
  • Blade Below the Shoulder: Has two blades on its arms.
  • Flight: Given it is a jet zord, it can fly.
  • Mythology Gag: Its design is based off the S.W.A.T Megazord from SPD.
  • Use Your Head: Can head butt its opponents, which is strong enough to send the Drivemax Megazord far in one hit.
  • The Worf Effect: Was initially stronger than the two Megazords, but lost footing when Thor arrived to strike him down.

Commando Robot

A military-themed Zord piloted by the Fear Cats. After obtaining the Super Armor, it became a samurai-themed Zord.
  • Puzzle Boss: Due to wearing the Super Armor, the Rangers had to use multiple Megazord configurations in order to defeat it.
  • Weaksauce Weakness: The Robot's main flaw is overheating after exhausting its energy during a long fight.

Centurion Robot

A battle helicopter-themed zord piloted by the Fear Cats.

Cybernetic Rex

A giant robotic Tyrannosaurus/Allosaurus zord created by Moltor.
  • Mythology Gag: Its design is based off the Q-Rex from Time Force
  • Shock and Awe: Can fire light purple colored lighting beams from its eyes.
  • The Worf Effect: It was initially strong against the Drivemax Ultrazord, but against the brand new Battlefleet Megazord? Yeah, good luck with that.

Agrios

A giant and powerful robotic monster. After the Fear Cats combined it with their jet, it became their final evil zord.
  • Bare-Fisted Monk: Uses its fists rather than use a weapon.
  • Godzilla Threshold: The threat of Agrios alone was enough to have the Rangers summon all their Zords in order to even stand a chance.
  • Made of Iron: Thanks to the Jet Armor developed by the Fear Cats, Agrios can tank any attack the Megazords can throw at it.
