SYNOPSIS
When you left the capital to escape the clutches of the sun god's council, you hoped that you could put your past behind you and start anew. Unfortunately for you, pasts always have a way of catching up to people; and yours just happened to come in the package of a bleeding man at your doorway.

What Remains is a short VN created for Otome Jam 2023. It features the following:
- 10,000+ words of dialogue and narration
- 1 Main male love interest
- 2 Alternating POVs
- Renameable MC with selectable pronouns
- Two endings
- Full voice acting
- Original soundtrack
- Playtime should be around 30 minutes to an hour at most
Known Bugs
There's a bug where the volume for the music may increase suddenly. I recommend just toning it down in the settings if ever this happens.
EDIT: New bugs as I fixed old ones! At the moment two voicelines in the main game aren't available and the Extras is broken!
For the browser version, the name input textbox may not load correctly. It will still function the same. Just input a name and enter. The rest should work just fine.

playing this on valentines day. I got so fucking hooked on it this is my favourite game I've ever played on itch.io. The art was beautiful, the story was so overwhelmingly captivating and breathtakingly creative and THE ENDING?!?!?!? MY HEARTTTTT. You should seriously consider writing a novel or creating a webseries for this game. I know I would certainly be the biggest fan!!!!!!!
this is really beautiful! ive been having it saved to play later for some time, and im not dissapointed.
ill be real, at first, the narrative didnt get me but then it suddenly clicked and i was like. Oh Yeah. Fearfully this Fucks. 2 lovers left in the wreckage of a prophet of a new age, the sun saint. both of them being magically bound to him beyond words. especially the scene wherein dantes suddenly peaking in on their private interaction and neither of them even care.. its really telling and well written. salvi taking dante breaking his bond as far more of a profound violation than its existence. the constrast between both of them humanizing him deeply by calling him "idiot" and also treating him like a god, letting him watch in on their privacy and just.. accepting it. sorry thats still insane to me.
i always love stories about the people left behind the "main character". the disciples to the grand prophet. and just the detail of like oh yeah theyre killing their saint because they know he has a spine and hes more useful to them as a story than a person with will and motive. kill the soul. thats the type of political drama i LIVE FOR. yesss...
i took a peek at your patreon, and im very excited for the remake!! i particuraly ADORE divinas new design. i feel like you were slightly limited here by making them a customizable mc but she looks so fucking cool now. i can feel the exhaustion in her eyes.. auwugh. (also HELL YEAH give salvi stupid little glasses. i live for that shit)
one last thing: my polyamory loving heart adores the salvi/dante/divina dynamic pre canon. its so funny. it reminds me of that one tumblr post that goes like "polyamorous triad but its 2 people trying to coax the third one into the relationship like a stray cat. they both get the third guy in bed and theyre like okok he seems calm.. this is nice he should know we love him. while the third guy is like wow i am in love. sucks that they secretly hate me and want to kill me with hammers for no reason." its great. salvi never change you freak.

Also re: Divina's new design, I was actually debating on keeping being able to choose their pronouns since it directly ties into their themes regarding self determination and the erasure of identity (due to colonization), but I eventually decided that it was not worth all the time I'd have to spend coding the text to fit LMAO. The themes will find their way in anyway. Choosing to lean in further into this being a Filipino fantasy setting also ended up influencing a lot of the design choices with how they dress.

Amazing art first off, and the story was so intriguing and captivating. like I just want to learn more about this world and the people in it. And the characters! I got so attached so quickly it was scary. All in all, I love how well made and beautiful the game is!

Yeah Siyokoy!! (The credits, help ahaha!) I love this, a whole bunch! Wasn't sure what I was expecting so I let myself in for the ride, and I fell in love right from the aesthetics of the UI, it's immensely beautiful. The background and character art are so breathtaking as well, it's very comfortable, I love the whole vibe. The music, sound effects and voice acting are so neat too (the louder music piece, might be the final piece but it didn't really bother me, I treated the voice overs as night-time whispers haha, and I love Salvi's bard art in the music gallery)! I knew I had to go through all the choices to grab the voice overs, narrative bits, and the CGs (they were so immersive).
What I really appreciated most was the storytelling. I enjoyed putting the bits and pieces together, be it on the relationships or the circumstances they are in. The characters' personalities are really pleasant and unique too, and how raw and vulnerable the emotions are conveyed in how all these elements piece together. The extra was an unexpected touch that really adds to everything. I love this. Thank you to you and the team for creating this wonderful piece of work. I really look forward to the spinoff and other works you have in the future! Thank you so much!
