Anytime I complete the Alchemist Training, the game freezes. I have to go back to this page, reload, and restart the game, and it loads just before the completion of that task.

Could you please put your save on pastebin.com and post the link?

You can export the save string in the settings.

Hi, I've been a fan since before the fairy faction was added but didn't have an account. I made one so I could post comments on this game specifically because it's my favorite on this site.

I looked into the progress menu to see what gaps existed between actions, and there were tons! Even spots where I would never have guessed there could be a gap for more actions to be placed, there are, so there's a lot of future proofing. Some of the gaps are clearly for organization or were just part of the dev process and aren't necessarily going to be filled with new content, but in looking through the gaps I thought of a few ideas.

(Similar to other comments, I just want to lay these out as ideas, anything or nothing can be done with them. It's your game, after all.)

There's room to expand on the [Spoiler for v18] action that could be fun, but possibly for endgame or an alternate ending, given how it warps the gameplay loop of the game to pursue it.

There's a gap for an expansion to farming in the starting village, though this might also be for the training dummy, perhaps stronger materials can lead to a stronger training dummy.

A more personal idea is somehow the rats from the tavern leading to a sewer area somewhere, though I don't know how that would work or where that would be. (Maybe in the City? IDK on this one)

The gap that I believe was where the Fairy faction was meant to be placed initially (but was too small) could instead be used for a small logging expansion, not a new skill, just more wood or types of wood, maybe a lumberjack cabin.

There's a gap between building traps and catching rabbits that I think building stronger traps of stronger materials for catching stronger or rarer creatures would fit in nicely. The next gap could be used for rare creatures that are harder to catch than rabbits.

There are two small gaps that might be useful for an expansion to the Wolf faction, the second of which being more usable since it's placed after the faction has been allied with. That one is up to you entirely, I'm not sure what to do with that.

Goblins have several gaps, there's one for expanding the training camp (maybe by using the various goblin types), training more types of riders, potentially from the rarer caught creatures, more explosions for the Goblin exploders, (I don't know if itch has an issue with the word of the object that causes explosions, but I'm playing it safe,) more goblin types, and a large space for other Goblin upgrades.

The Fairy faction has several gaps as well, there's one for possibly purifying other things or other early things to do with the Fairy, then there's one for fighting other corrupted creatures, then there's a decently sized one for more Fairy upgrades.

These ones are the ones I find the most interesting, in between offing the fairy and creating the potions there's a gap, and between creating the potions and consuming the potions there's a gap of exactly 5 slots for actions, one for each potion.

Now, you can do whatever you want with this, maybe nothing at all. But, given that the Fairy faction has no direct opposite or rival faction currently and the fairy wings and the potions they're used for are not as strong as sparing the Fairy, maybe this could be an opportunity for an enemy to the Fairies, a magically inclined faction who would love the Fairy Wings or the potion the player brews with them. Maybe a Witch/Dark Fey faction? This is my strongest idea honestly.

Going further to the Elves there are just so many gaps for things, enter the village, there's a gap for more stuff to do when first entering the village, buy the bow, a lot of room for archery upgrades besides crafting arrows, then there's a gap for plenty of arrow types, which I'm sure is a trend that'll continue.

There's a massive gap between the Elves and the City, enough to fit an entire area as big as the Forest, with multiple factions. This could be a split off from the Forest in a different direction from the City, or a magical dimension entered through one of the factions in the forest somehow. There are infinite possibilities and they're all yours. Don't just stop at my ideas.

There's room for more books, there's room for other things to do in the library, there's room for more things to buy at the market, there's room for more merchant related actions, possibly getting into the merchant business for reliable gold or some other quest. There's room for faction related forging, and there's a decent bit of room for a blacksmith faction? This wouldn't be a typical faction, more like the Wolves, smaller in scale. I was thinking they would be rivals and that the Dire Wolf pelt is how you would access the true depth of the Blacksmith faction's actions. Again, that's just my idea, do whatever you want with your many gaps between actions.

There's a lot of room to expand the tournament and the rest of the City. More travel locations from the City could be added, though each one presumably would be its own area, so I can see why there's only a few open slots.

There's a large gap between travel and the Holy faction that I'm not sure what would go there, but that just means it's a blank canvas.

The Holy faction could be expanded, being evil could be expanded, and there's a large gap between this and the mountains where anything could be added.

There's a gap for actions between reaching the mountains and entering the mine, more things could be done there, more action can be done in the mine before fighting the crystals, more monsters can be fought in the mine, maybe, more ordinary ores could be mined, like gold or copper, maybe for use by the merchants or other factions.

More stuff could be added past the Dwarves and Dragonkin in the cave location-wise, just go past there settlements and see what's further past them. Just a thought.

More stuff could be added with the Sage, maybe fighting other magical beings like summoned creatures or training with them, (IDK what the Sage is, so I apologize if I got it wrong,) there's a decent gap that could fit the mountain's peak being expanded with more actions, that's the area where the yetis are.

More starting actions could be added to when you first get to the swamp, there could be other Necromancer upgrades later on that don't involve the zombies, (adding more or strengthening them,) and instead strengthen the caster, there seems to be a spot for that type of upgrade. There could definitely be other stuff added to the swamp that's unrelated to the necromancy or mutagen later on, and eventually a new area might be an idea worth considering.

Ultimately, it's up to you, and always make sure to pace yourself and avoid burnout by taking breaks if you start feeling it.

TLDR;

You're doing good, love the game! You future proofed it really well, I just wanted to point out how well you did that.

Some ideas: Witch faction to rival Fairies if you off the Fairy for wings to make potions? Blacksmith faction to rival Wolves if you off the Wolves for pelts to craft armor? Mining other ordinary ores like Copper, Gold, Platinum for use with interacting with other factions in trades? Sewer Area from Rats in Tavern, maybe in City? Magical Dimension Area from one of the forest factions?

All ideas are up for grabs, but no pressure. Just wanted to offer some possible ideas, no need to use it if you don't want to. Thank you for making a really fun game!

(+3)

Having completed latest build some ideas/notes (as usual, do what you want with them, or nothing at all):

1) If we go necromancy path, we have an extra mutagen potion available for the cat. But, if we go ecomancy path, we have an extra purified potion that isn't used up. Maybe we consume it ourselves... or we can use it on the tamed dire wolf?

2) We have quite the large amount of herbs, vials, and spring water left, after doing all the actions. Maybe we can use it to offer Alchemy Training for gold. Like when we first learned Alchemy ourselves.

3) We have 5 remaining carrots after feeding the rest to rabbits. Maybe with ecomancy, we can create carrot warriors?

4) If we go the goblin route, we have excess mithril that doesn't get used. Maybe we use it for wolf/lizard rider barding (animal armor), or we give it to our goblin brutes... or we craft mithril weapons for our most powerful undead minions.

5) We have 5 traps left after using them on rabbits. Perhaps we can use them to capture fairies, and then have 5 fairy wings to use up. Maybe we bait them with Mana Crystals... as if we went evil route, we'd have nothing that uses up the Crystals we mine.

6) We have excess leather and dire wolf fur. Maybe we create Soft Leather armor from it, based on existing leather armor but all the new stuff.

7) Could go with another Round of the Arena. Round 5 we fight a dragon. Or possibly a necromancer that raised the Demon Assassin from the grave.

8) We accumulate a lot of gold over time. Perhaps we can find a black market dealer that sells us expensive items. These might not say increase power directly, but could lead to quest locations that could increase power or suchforth.

9) Another option is you can invest gold into the respective villages for large xp boosts to various stats. ie Investing in Goblins gives you Farming or Animal Handling. Elves gives you Precision or Movement.

10) Perhaps reading all three racial books (ie 10 Phrases... Sound as... How to...), unlocks a 4th book that talks about the history behind why each race hates eachother, for +100 reading.

11) Having the option to murder the sage after we help them. For a much lower power/time cost needed, to kill them. So that we can still get their corpse, if we decide to be a necromancer but don't reliably have a way to get to 2000 power. And if we do kill them, after helping them, we can help ourselves to the roast chicken, wine, and lemon shaved ice.

12) If we learn Ecomancy Magic, we can summon up the vines on the door, to hold down the guardians, reducing the combat power cost (and time to kill) by 50% and then we don't need to clean off the doors either.

13) If we go Elves route, we can tame various creatures, which require a high animal handling skill.

14) If we fully help out the Vegetable Vendor, we get a questline to find Beryn.

15) When we learn a new type of magic, we unlock a book in the library to read that teaches more on the topic. Possibly cost gold to acquire.

16) After helping the Sage, they provide us with additional quests, based on what skills we possess. For example, when we learn a magic type, they send us on a quest that raises that magic skill. They also could pay handsomely for a purified mutagen potion. They could also sell us rare magical items, similar in thought to the Black Market dealer, above. Some of them might allow us to circumvent things with a shortcut. ie An enchanted item called the Skeleton Key, lets us get past the Stone Guardians and open the Dwarven Door without doing any of the normal stuff to get it open.

17) Have the option to forge an Elven Greatsword. Takes an Iron Sword and Moon Sword, plus some more mithril, to create the weapon.

18) Have the option to create a Dire Wolf Cape, from the Elves. Grants a large amount of Animal Handling XP.

19) Could use Spring Water, Herbs, and Holy Magic, to create Holy Water. If you dip a weapon or armor into it, it Sanctifies the item, greatly enhancing it. And makes it so that you need 5-10% less power to defeat the next "Demon Assassin" type of foe. As Holy Weapons are especially effective against Demons.

20) Get a quest to return to the first tavern. You are told by the King's health inspector that someone is selling Rat Meat, as Beef, and you are sent to find out who.

=====

Anywho, wait for the next release. Happy devving.

Is there documentation of all of the activities somewhere? I don't particularly feel like doing every combination of choices just to look for the 10 or so that I've missed, but I also liked the game enough to pay for the full version since I think there's a lot of potential.

All of my missing activities are in the 50,000s. 23, 26, 27, 40, 60, 61, 110, 120, 200, and 250.

SPOILERS AHEAD

Oh and it's cool that something was added if you complete all 1000 sleep, can't wait for some practical uses for Dream Magic :)

(-7)

just make it mac version or i aint playing

love the new content, zombie cat is the best cat, but I noticed that sixth mutagen potion goes to waste in the elven route, since you can still only complete the purify task five times.

I just started playing the game after hearing about it from comments on the game demo that has a similar playstyle but I wanted to check out the type of game the dev of that game was influenced by and they mentioned demonlord loop anyway I'm playing in CCleaner Browser and when I catch the last rabbit I need to tame the dire wolf the game freezes and when I refresh I'm back to 2-3 rabbits left to go.  Then once again when it reaches 10 rabbits caught it freezes again.

Does it also freeze if you select another activity before catching the rabbits?

Could you tell me your system specs?

(2 edits)

I'm running Windows 10 Pro 64-bit on a Ryzen 9 3900x 32g Ram on a EVGA RTX 3080 FTW3 ultra 10g.  The only thing that causes it to freeze is continuing to catch the rabbits and it always seems to freeze on the catching attempt that would make it the 10 that you need or whatever it is that you need total.

Could you please put your save on pastebin.com and post the link?

You can export the save string in the settings.

(+1)

Hell yeah, I could feel an update was coming as soon as someone asked about it!

(+1)

thank you for this AMAZING game, honestly one of the best I have ever played

Hey, reav, have you seen Reincarnated as a Dark Lord Before Taking Over the World with Power 999999999 on Steam Next Fest?

(+3)

Started playing this game and it's become all-consuming. My biggest request? Different color palettes! I'd love to stare at Green instead of Blue.

(+2)

When is the new patch coming?  This game is an absolute unit, can't wait for more

(+3)

Thank you. :D
The next patch will be out in a few days.

(+1)

is there a way to transfer your save from the demo to the windows version?

(+1)

You can export/import your save in the settings.

(+2)

ive been mostly just sleepmaxxing for the past 50 loops. i can sleep in 6.3 seconds, watch this: zzzzzzzz

(+1)

like i could play the game but i really want to see if theres something when you complete all 1000 sleeps

(+3)

unfortunately no, I have gotten to the 1000 sleeps, but there is no unlock in the demo version.  IDK about the windows version

Probably not. There is no activity to unlock next to it in the progress page at least. I have unlocked all activites but two in the windows version, and both of those are somewhere completely different.

(+2)

Really fun game, always siding with the goblins and taming wolves: THE FOREST SHALL HAND ME THE DEMON KING'S HEAD!

(+2)

This game fucking rocks(it's way harder to side with the goblins)

(+6)

Goblins/Elves: We pledge to help you in your quest.

Goblins: Our numerous and diverse army will follow you into whatever battle fate may bring. We will change our culture, and even change our very bodies, to better serve the cause.

Elves: We can, uh, sell you this bow. And teach you how to make arrows! (On your own. From your own materials.) And teach you ecomancy! (It’s not very useful on its own.) Oh goodness gracious, look at the time! You need to go slay the Demon Lord! Good luck~!

(+1)

Really good arrows that can be made later though, and the armor can be upgraded.. but the main win you get with elves is definitely the cabbage soldiers lol

(+1)(-4)

Would appreciate a way to set when you stop doing the thing in automation, like I don't really wanna peruse the books all 4 times, just 2 times will get me th ebooks I need, same with farming, I only need 15 carrots to get the dire wolf, I don't want to/need to exhaust it, kinda prevents it being truly idle.

Else the game is fun.

Some kind of autosave would be amazing. WebGL has been randomly crashing and I lost my progress several times already.

(+2)

The game normally auto saves every 30 seconds. What browser are you using?

(-1)

Chrome.

Really fun game! Think combat power in the demo maxes out at 11,379 , or at least that was the highest I was able to get.

Ended up Killing Wolves, Killing Goblins, Aiding Fairy, and Siding with Dragons, maybe combinations of the other options would get me further, but Killing the Fairy never netted me nearly enough Power to continue, and siding with Dwarves just didn't get me as high.

Good game though, excited to see this continue development, and the "automation" really helped it become an "idle" game once I'd reached a high-option-density. Once I figured out what was best for my path, I could let that run and then just wait until I got to the newer options.

(+1)

I would appreciate an end of loop screen change, currently if you're tabbed out you won't be able to tell what stats went up how much, i'd like to be able to see exactly how much each stat went up.
additionally, an option to auto loop would be nice

patch 0.17.0 makes the game unable to change window size. things are cut off in fullscreen and cut off even more in windowed mode. i think it might be a bug, but otherwise it's a great game! :)

I'll look into it. Could you tell me your OS and screen resolution?

Some ideas for things "not" in the game as of yet:

1) Random events = After completing any activity with "more" than 3 actions (ie explore forest wouldn't count, but kill goblins would), there is a chance to spawn a random event. This would allow you to earn extra/more XP for some skill and some power, possibly bypassing other things. It would also make some playthroughs feel more unique.

2) Shortcuts = Perhaps after doing certain activity enough times, you can now skip it for future runs. So, say you do the defeat Forest Guardian enough times, you can now skip it, and go straight to exploring the forest. Or maybe after exploring the city enough times, you know it by heart now, or where the books are in the library. Skipping would mean you do get the xp, just not have to spend the time doing the actions.

3) Random challenges = Each run generates with a few challenges. Some might be to reach a certain skill level, or maybe complete a questline, or say do a certain kind of action enough times (so say you need to do 30 actions that grant precision xp). Completing a challenge grants you some permanent xp to ALL your skills.

=====

Anywho, check back in it later. As usual. Happy devving.

game crashes when exploring the forest the third time

I don't know if this is a bug, but when I allied with the wolves & goblins, killed the fairy, then broke down the sage's door, it become stuck because I need 2000 power to fight stone sentinels or the sage, but I've exhausted every way to power up and my power is still only at 1789.

(-2)

There are more options in the full version, so you might need that to beat those. You can also help the fairy for options that give more power. I'm not sure if wolves+goblins is better than killing wolves+elves in the demo either.

(+2)

I was trying to do a evil playthrough XD

(4 edits) (+2)

In older versions it was possible to kill the fairy and make the sorcerer's potion to get access to magic early in order to proceed, but now that you need magic in order to actually make the potion, yeah that's pretty much as much as you can do on that route in the demo. There's just too much power locked behind sparing the fairy.

Personally, I think it could probably be fixed by allowing us to break down the door at any point of the sage quest rather than just the start (or just being allowed to climb the mountain without being prompted by the sage first). That way we could still get the power from the yetis.

(1 edit)

I can't join faction with the dwarves, because the game crashes everytime i complete that task.

But all in all i love the new updates.

Edit: After trying to finish the round without joining the dwarves i had another crash after attacking the city.

Could you post the latest log after the game crashed? The log files are located here: user_name\AppData\Roaming\Godot\app_userdata\demon lord loop\logs

(2 edits)

I think there is a bug with the loop button for the "end content demon". It kept saying I needed to click the demon 3 times to unlock the button but it never became available even after I clicked him a bunch. Also the buttons for the swamp sections seemed to be separated all around the mountian and wizard options as opposed to being together. If all of the swamp options were below the wizard options at the very bottom it probably would have been easier to scroll through.

I binged this game hard, the most points I could get so far was in the 12K. It feels like you covered most of the genre's niches for sources of power, I imagine its going to be difficult to keep scaling the story up to 1 million.  But I want to tell you I really like your game, the way you balanced all the options was very good. When I first started playing I kept imagining I was watching an isekai story like re: zero. Being worried about making the right choices then getting lost on the slippery slope of looping the bad choices to see if I could find the power I needed.

I have some ideas of the hero's next steps if you would like to hear my loose thoughts.

He could take his army to the next city/region and liberate it from captivity to gain more army and weapons development. A royal family arc.

Relics of power quests, build a defensive fortress that can be upgraded. A martial arts learning arc with monks. Schools and factories for the army. Fortification starting as one base, to kingdom city, to the whole region, country, and finally the continent. Sending envoys to find/ask for help in other areas to get more people. A quest going around the whole border to set up ambushes and defenses. Going to the final stronghold/dimension of evil to expel it. Find a traitor within the kingdom that needs to be expelled along with his secret coalition.

I look forward to your next update, but feel free to take your time to enjoy the process as you make something great. :)

(+1)

Took a while but finally got everything done in 1 run, took about 2 days.

Love the game ^^. Great concept. Maybe move the reset points of automation. Twice now I have reset all my changes when trying to select a different comp xD… Or even a confirmation would help.

https://store.steampowered.com/app/4204590/Reincarnated_as_a_Dark_Lord_Before_Ta...

Idk how to put this but... buttttttt....
I know this game was made first, but someone yoinked the idea out of nowhere.

(-2)

I see so as well. I hope its the creator of this game T-T (Doubt it is). But I wouldn’t say yoinked. More like just stealing. But if the Owner of this game deploys a steam game, then the other game cant do anything.

(+1)(-1)

I know it's not the creator of this game based on the update done a week ago and that game's preview being nothing alike in terms of UI. But outside from that? Functionally the same game. Instead of 1 000 000... it's 999 999 999. Which... eh.

Just found a third game in this format today: https://stripedbutterfly.itch.io/surviving-magic-academy-as-a-demon-lord

Which seems to be taking more cues from the other game than this one, ironically.

(6 edits) (-1)

The games are similar on the surface, but in practice they play so much differently that I wouldn't even treat it as "clone with different actions" which is already perfectly serviceable as a different game imo. (It's a game obviously inspired by this one and with similar theming, but different core gameplay mechanics which means the way you actually play the two ends up being nothing alike.)

(It was posted on itch like a month ago. Apparently it got some minor updates since then, but it's hard to judge until the next major content update which will more firmly cement it as being obviously different.)

(+3)

I would really like the option to 'record' the choices I make on a run for an auto preset. Going through the list every time I want to make a new one is not fun, being able to just play and make the preset at the same time would be cool. (Great game though)

Also, a way to easily tell the difference between different things in the automation screen. So a different colour for if the automation  is turned on, and if they are a choice.

(1 edit) (+1)

Woo! love the update! Absolutely worth the wait.

I love how you expanded on the Necromancy, but I noticed you didn't include the goblin king for resurrection. other than that (and maybe the rabbits, since fighting the wolves instead of feeding them doesn't result in their deaths), you've covered all your bases on that front.

Can't wait for the next update!

EDIT: and the rats, that 10 juicy power left on the table right there, going un-necromancied and such.

pretty sure the reason you can't have the rats is the innkeeper implies he is gonna cook them when you're done.

(+3)

Suggestion:  When using automation, the game should check to see if something higher-priority has become available after each attempt at its current task.  At the moment, once it starts doing something it will keep doing it until it can't continue, which results in eg. collecting way more wood than is necessary.

If it rechecked after each iteration then you could just set the task that uses the wood to higher priority and it would stop gathering wood once it had enough to do that.

salut, juste pour savoir : c'est quoi le maximum de power obtenable dans la démo ? j'ai l'impression qu'on est limité vers 8000, mais j'aimerais savoir si on ne pourrais pas avoir plus ?

Error
The following features required to run Godot projects on the Web are missing:

Godot keeps crushing still loved it so paid xD

Loving this game, can't wait for the next update

Stop me if you saw this bug before (or if it's not a bug at all) - in the paid version, I can learn magic and practice arcane blast by going to the mines and infusing the crystals with mana BEFORE  doing the tower intro fetch quest and studying magic under the sage

It may be a bug since you are infusing magic though there are legitimate ways to skip the sage with magic in the form of killing the fairy and making a magic potion so I cannot be certain.

I'm not killing the fairy in this play through. You could ignore the fairy entirely and just go through the mountain -> main -> open gate and infuse mana crystals is enough to teach magic and open up arcane blast's branch

I've fixed the two bugs. Thank you both for reporting them.

(+1)

QOL suggestion: in the automation menu an option to automatically set 'choice's to off with a button press

(+2)

Also we need some granular control to get exact timings. I'd like if we could right click to do something only once.

(+1)

Automation rules won't automatically stop Gather Wood at 10 to go Fight Twig Creatures.

Is there no checking between steps of a task to see if there is a new task it can swap to?

is the downloaded version a program or a local browser page? the biggest annoyance I'm having with the demo is that it stops progressing if it's not visible on the screen (yes it keeps working if only a small part is visible but finding a way to keep part of 4 different windows visible while working in a 5th was kind of annoying) but most stand alone programs do not have that restriction in my experience so it'd be worth the 3 dollars to have that issue fixed if nothing else

also would be nice if you could import your multipliers from the demo to the main game at least if there's problems creating a full save export for some reason

The downloadable version is a program.
If you import your save file, you'll keep all the multipliers from the demo.

how do you import the save file?

In the settings menu, you can export the save from the demo by either copying the text or downloading the save file. You can then import it into the payed version.

Thank you

Having trouble figuring out what the action after Learn Holy Smite is in the paid version if anyone can help!

(1 edit) (+1)

Craft Holy Hand Grenade = ally with goblins + return necronomicon

The games branches are blanced in terms of power gained, so if you are missing something, look in the branch with missing power.
wolves+goblins  ~~ elves

return necronomicon ~~ use necronomicon

The fairy and tower  branches however have a clear best choice.
