| Weapon | Name | Description |
|---|
| Lance | The default weapon is a javelin that is thrown horizontally. It flies fast and straight and is useful against most foes. Arthur can throw only one lance at a time. Causes medium damage. | | Torch | Arthur tosses a firebomb horizontally which loses its altitude soon, flying in arch. The bomb explodes on the ground and creates a wall of fire. One of the strongest weapon as its impact force is amplified by an extra ignition. You cannot throw additional fireballs while the ground fire fizzles out. | | Dagger | Arthur throws a knife with a faster rate of attack. The faster rate is combined with smaller damage capability. | | Axe | Chunky and clunky, the axe is essentially the extinguished counterpart of the flame. Obviously, it lacks the "instant campfire" aspect of its fiery cousin, though it must be noted the axe will continue through any enemy it makes contact with. Slightly weaker weapon than the torch, but effective enough against heavy enemies. | | Shield | The shield has limited range, but it can destroy enemy projectiles. It is the only weapon you can use to truly beat the final boss. It's also a good rapid-fire weapon. The Shield is found in the final area of the castle, guarded by Red Arremer. |
| Item | Name | Description |
|---|
| Armor | Protects Arthur being hit deadly. Enemy contact knocks the armor off from his body. Touching enemies without armor is lethal. Picking up this item will restore Arthus's armor. When he is already wearing one, it gives him a few seconds invulnerability. | | Bonus pot | Carried by enemies, they will contain an item or a weapon, see below. | | Drachma | 200 points | | Money bag | 200 points | | Door key | Dropped by the monsters guarding the massive doors, necessary to exit to the next level. | | Bust | 200 points, or extra life on 4th level |
Item Drops: Bonus pots appear after killing a specific number of enemies. Being armorless increases the spawn rate of pot-carriers, and they will only drop armor. Avoid hitting pot-carrier enemies when their falling pot might spash into water or land on any non-reachable location. In this case the pot will not crack and you won't get the item. Every fourth dropped item is a weapon. (Except when you need an armor. Being armorless forces the game to drop only armors in pots.)
Difficulty differences: Easy: Fixed enemies do not respawn after death. Extra life after every stage. Enemies have low HP and eager to fire/jump in a lower rate. Normal: Only nearby enemies respawn. Extra life after every stage. Hard: All enemies on the map respawn upon death. Extra life only after every second stage. Enemies have higher HP and they move aggressively.
Combat Mechanics: Dropped items vanish after 10 seconds. Successful hits on bosses/tough enemies are indicated by a specific sound effect.
Gameplay Tips: On level two, at the end of the Ice Towers, there's a falling platform. Be sure to jump from it while on the top section. Once the screen toggles to the lower section, Arthur is already falling, he will have no chance to find purchase to make the jump.
