Is Jixa Lady Tiger coming to Steam?

Not this version, but soon I'll launch a Kickstarter Campaign with an enhanced version "Jixa Lady Tiger Plus" published by Brainium Games and will be released on Steam and Consoles (also GBA and maybe MD) :D Here you can follow the project: https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/brainiumgames/jixa-lady-tiger-plus?fbclid=I...

Something strange happened tonight:

-played the game

-beat the first area (serpent boss)

-start the second area

-note the password

-die in the first part of the second area

-go back to title screen

-enter the password

-start the second area and beat the part

-and then ... well it's impossible to beat the running tiger part, the last jump over the water is too far away

-i died a lot (meaning more than 10 times) but never got a game over

Cool little game, like the vibe, I =>REALLY<= regret not being to use my arcade stick (playing with a pad is impossible, how can you jump with the stick ? Why can't you use the d-pad at least ?), and I do feel the tiny input lag due to using a keyboard may the reason behind the impossible jump.

So maybe add an option to remap keys ?

And BTW: twitch doesn't know the game,it would be a good idea to add a page, there's many retro player that probably like to play and show the game. (^_^)

Thank you for the detailed comment Helldraco! It's very strange the "no gameover bug" (I'll check it out) but about the impossible jump, are you trying keeping pressed the "run" button before jumping with the tiger? ;) Hope now you'll be able to continue and complete the game with no more issues. Thanks double for your precious support (and Happy Holidays!)

Didn't know I could dash, worked better that way. :p

About that: i wasn't sure the dash was working because the visual feedback is lacking, i only knew after some tries that here was indeed a difference between dashing and not dashing.

Funnily enough I did the exact same thing as last time but the no game over bug didn't occurred.

On another topic but still about controls:

-when i play with keyboard (K) arrows and A works

-when i press J for joystick, arrows still works, A doesn't but SHIFT works like A

BTW: Password system was a good idea, no frustration when stuck on a certain stage. (^_^)

Thank you for testing it again!! (And Merry Xmas!) Yep, sadly clickteam fusion (the software used to do the game) have some compatibily issues with controls and I don't have the chance to test it properly with every kind of system-pad so I've got to admit a bit of random issues like the one you told me :(. And yes again, you are right there is not fx on the "dash speed" but only a faster animation, due to the c64 style I did'nt added a visual fx on the tiger, but can create a bit of confusion or doubt. But I'm happy that now you can complete the game :D

can it be played on a c64 mini or zx spectrum next?

At the moment only pc, but I'm working on an enhanced console version (ps4-5-switch-xbox) and a gba port (will be available in 2026 I hope) With more actions, animations, stages...

Love to see a port on the Atari VCS

It's like a significantly more playable Vixen! Even the music theme is pretty much   exactly the same! Nice art too, but I really wish author didn't use AI, as even the thought of it taints the experience a little.

Could definitely use some quality of life features, like a proper title screen with game options and control customization, as well as a pause screen. Passwords are cool and all, but you could also keep a savegame and let us continue.
Also - Level 9 is fatally broken. After the boss dies you lose control of the character, but the screen doesn't fade out. After a while the boss respawns and kills   the player.

Thank you for your feedback Darkfalzx, I made games in the "old way" so I admit there is not so much options :D (and that's why I prefer add no savestate or a vintage password mode) But I really apologize about the bug you report, It never happened to me, can you give me some more infos to try to fix it? It happened once? Or many times? You could complete the game after the bug happened? Any further info will be precious to me, thanks in advance again!

The bug was a complete show-stopper, and I was forever stuck at the boss fight and couldn't progress. Since I wasn't writing down passwords (as absolute majority of people wouldn't, assuming the game is saving their progress... as all PC games absolutely should!) I didn't try to restart from the beginning.

I got to the boss normally - playing from level 1 until 9 dying a bunch. Not sure how the life system works, but I definitely died more than 3 times. Particularly on lv7 I must've died 5-10 times, but lives always stayed at 3. Then I proceeded to lose another two lives at the boss before defeating it. After the boss death animation, player movement control was disabled, but I could still change direction and attack. After being stuck like this for about 30 seconds the boss simply respawned and continued his attack pattern like nothing happened, eventually killing player. Once the fight restarted, I was able to defeat the boss again, but the same thing happened.

Ok, thank you again Darkfalzx!! I'll test it again and I'll try to find out what's wrong! In the meantime you can find out password looking one of the longplay on youtube, so you can try again and complete the story if you want!! Sorry for the issue :_ (

A very nice platform game in the style of "Hawkeye" with a matching C64 color palette. The only thing missing is an original C64 version, but the hardware is probably be too weak for that. Our German-language review can be found in our recorded livestream starting at 05:00:00. English subtitles are also available. Subscription to our YouTube and Twitch channel is welcome. 🙂

Hello! Is there a demo version of the game available, or is there a way to get a test version for a planned livestream? If so, we'd love to hear from you. https://www.radio-paralax.de/kontakt/

Game looks fantastic however I do get that "AI" vibe from some screens like main look of the character in main menu screen... Character has this typical "AI" vibe with small, pointy nose and child-like face features... It does look like generators were used quite heavily here - sadly. Character has white hair in some cases in others yellow/blonde... Face and haircut looks different on different angles - quite typical for "AI" inconsistencies... But hey, you did a great overall job, it really looks well overall. I wonder how it plays. Will be checking it out bit later. I would absolutely love it if it had more of a handmade feeling to it without that generation involved which only hurts your otherwise great game.

Thank you for comment!! You've got a good eye, I admit I tested a bit AI in the intros, but there is a big work of pixel art on the references. The main part are real pics refs recreated in pixel art. Hair color palette changes following the c64 palette (sometime better yellow sometime better white, not to much choise eheh) :D

I can see that and I am mentioning it just because really it takes away from your great game rather then adding to it. I know now people are fascinated with this fake "AI" thing, its quick and so on. Specially on the retro games scene I see that fascination - so many Amiga games are using it for bits and pieces, promotional materials etc. But it is always visible at first sight and I always ask myself "WHY? You did all that huge job on game itself - why to rush and slap that robotic pseudo art on it... I rather take not so good art from human then this seemingly perfect yet soulless "art" spit from generator. And I am saying all that just because I REALLY like your game. Fantastic job. And yeah I agree, c64 palette can be tricky :D Part of the fun I guess. Much luck with everything and please dont take my comments in the wrong way. Its not because I am bashing your game - quite opposite, would love to see it perfected :)

Oh no wrong way, you know the indiegame developer is an "hobby" for me, my first job is illustrator and comic artist (and of course I'll never use AI for my real job) But as a creative mind I need to discover new instruments and making some experiments with them. AI is a new thing, evolving very fast and is becoming a solid part of our reality (if we like it or not) I'm not the kind that refuse it 100%, I prefer to explore it and try fo find out if can help in some way. I made also an alternate cover using AI posting on my social all the steps as a educational experiment but I not used it for the game (I used it as cover for the digital OST).

Well, it was pretty obvious it was probably AI, it is the usual AI style and it stood out a lot from your previous games.

No I don't think it's so different from my other games in this style, I used pictures ref for Robocop VS Predator and Black Jewel (cause it was used same practice in the past games and I'm so nostalgic ;)) In Jixa are just a couple of AI generated references (and heavily edited adding details, costume, background and so on). Maybe I can do better of course, but is nothing so clear and noticeable.

Excellent! Now we need a C64 demake of this XD

Eheheh thank you TygerKlawz, lots of people is asking it! XD At the moment no c64 version, but probably will be ported on all consoles, ps4-5, nintendo switch1-2 and microsoft next year. (not sure but really probably, the publisher I work with is interested and asked me)

It already has a c64 demake. It's called Vixen lol

purchased and tried downloading, Windows Defender detects a trojan in JixaLadyTiger_PC_GAME.zip (Trojan:Script/Sabsik.FL.A!ml) and deletes it :(

Damn, it happened sometime in the past with some friends, but it's an issue of Clickteam Developer, give it the permission and will be fine! (let me know if the problem remain and we'll try to find a solution!

Tried it on another computer and didn't have the issue. Cool game, good job :)

Awesome, sorry for the little inconvenience, I'm trying to solve it, but is not easy cause is a bug inside the software, not in the game XD Have fun!!

if more people would report this file in their antivirus as "false positive" instead of running it on another computer, this situation would be solved automatically over time.

Thank you for your instruction Nafcom Thank you!! Will help me a lot to answer in the future if the same issue will be noticed.

This looks great! Well done <3

Thank you for your comment Plume!! :_

What is native resolution please? Or 1x window size?

I try to run it on my  crt widescreen but I have trouble finding the right resolution for 1x1 pixel size. It's not c64 resolution is it?

Good evening Paulsen!! Sure, resolution is 288x162 (something like 6.6x proportional to a 16/9 modern screen)

Interesting! Thanks a lot for the reply

Out of interest as a fellow pixel art game dev, how did you land on the 288x162 resolution as opposed to the more common 320x180?

(+1)

Good evening ElegantMechanic, I decided when I create Black Jewel, cause the c64 had a lower resolution but I had to keep the 1x1 pixel instead the rectangular one, so I decided a custom ibrid resolution. I used another different and still lower for my Stramonium.

From the gameplay video, it looks like an excellent game. It would be amazing if a version for a real Commodore 64 or 128 were released, both in physical and digital formats, cartridge or disk.

I'm sure can be done, but I've got not the right skills eheh, but I love so much the c64 palette, that's why this is my second game done using it! Thanks for comment RGM!

It's not "just" a windows game. I would prefer a C64 version as well, but please respect what people are programming, regardless. Consider it the arcade version that someone has to port to the C64 ;-)
