RivGen Power System

The RivGen is a fully submerged power system consisting of 2 cross-flow turbine. The rotating foil drives a gearless, central permanent magnet generator that converts the rotational energy into electricity. The device is built primarily with composite materials and corrosion resistant steel. Towable pontoon support structure with "self-deploying" and "self-retrieving" remotely-operated ballast system. The device is moored using an upstream anchor system and is held near to the river bottom. The minimum water depth is 5 m. The rated power output is 40 kW at 2.25 m/s and 80 kW at 3.5 m/s.
