Rex
A downloadable game for Windows
Rex, the thick-skinned mercenary, is here to do a job. He's come to Zenith to do away with the humans that have built their fortunes around the Great Tower.

Armed with the greatest weapon system yet seen, with it array of cannons, lasers, multiple spray guns and smart bombs, Rex leaps from cave to cave in a mad blitz that wreaks havoc and destruction on his chosen enemies, who explode in a mass of sound and colour, leaving behind their precious energy bubbles.
Once in the Great Tower itself, new challenges await the mighty Rex. A multi-level arcade extravaganza of epic proportions.

This is a Windows remake of the amazing ZX Spectrum game by The Light, originally published by Martech in 1988.

Very nice conversion and interesting action game. Our German-language review can be found at 06:35:56. English subtitles are also available. Subscription to our YouTube and Twitch channel is welcome. 🙂
Brilliant - thank you for this !
This is my tribute...
Awesome work! The palette is 64 colors? Reminds me both C64 and ZX and a bit of NES. What criteria did you use when choosing the colors for the palette?? Thank you! ❤️
I have to admit.... I never gave the palette any thought at all! I just threw every colour I had at it!
Great remake. Congrats!
Fantastic remake. Thanks for taking the time to create it.
Yeah, alright, stop showing off, you only just beat my score LOL
This is an amazing version. Music and sound effects are top notch. Congrats!
Excuse my bad gameplay, but i am terrible at these games.
Thank you for your effort in bringing Rex back to life. Having picked up the gamepad with it, the controls aren't intuitive. Perhaps an option to remap them could be added? Otherwise, an absolutely stunning piece of work!!! <3
Can't wait to play this, one of my favourite Speccy games!
Works on Linux too.
awesom remake of the classic!
I sincerely hope that the Next version when/if it materialises uses the same graphics!
I'm LOVING the game but the impossibility to remap joyopad controls is killing me...literally. Hoping in a updated version concerning that aspect. As for the rest, keep it up guys, the game is LOVELY and I gladly support it.
I don't usually go back to games and make changes like this, but do try and accommodate suggestions for future games I make. Do you mean just having the ability to change what gamepad button does what?
Hey, thanks for the kind reply. Yes, what I meant was that I miss the option to remap the buttons on my joypad, I'd like to jump with the "A" button, hit with "X" and use the others for specials and so on. It's more or less the standard for lots of games, easy, intuitive and very ergonomic.
Richard, how are you making these games so fast? its mind boggling.
Thank you Sir.
Hi Paul. This game was actually finished a couple of monthw ago, but I specifically wanted Leebee to do the music - and he's a very busy man! Sheepish (and another game I haven't posted yet) were also waiting in the wings which is why it seems I'm making the games really quickly. Having said that, I did take early retirement last year so I have a lot more time on my hands!
Game is brutal! But ACE !!
very nice
SWISH!!!
Very good!
Love it. Not sure the music exactly fits, other than that - great work!
I thought he did a fab job of the music. I wasn't going to have any in game originally but I was convinced!
I think Lee did a great job on the music. It really adds to Richard's style. The original Spectrum game can feel a little flat and hollow without any music. Definitely Richard's best remake 👍
