Phenomenal game! This is definitely one of those games where it isn't easy to see how great it is before playing it yourself. In-depth gameplay, tight movement and challenging boss-fights makes this into something special. Looking forward to the full release!

I cannot for the life of me get even close to beating time keeper two. It one shots me, and I run out of time too quickly so I end up rushing it. Closest I got was 55976 hp left.

You were so close! Try reaching 50% hp and something will happen :) Try using overload as much as possible in combination with rage loot to deal massive damage. Also dash away at the last second so that even dodging dashes will deal damage thanks to dash trail! I know you can make it!

idek how to start, I'm just at a timer with 2 blue things that don't do anything when I click on them and circles on the side, what do I do

the game is meant to be very challenging, in our YouTube page we have made a playthrough with some useful tips. Just a quick tip, try to hit the Time keeper and at the same Time kill a dasher! luring them to the wall helps a lot

pretty difficult, but it's possible to lock the bosses into an infinite combo where you dash through them over and over and they cant dash at you

Once it locks you it has a constant amount of Time after which it dashes at you regardless of its rotation, what you can do is it hit it while it is not charging or Time your dashes before he actually dashes, in general when it is charging it is better to play it more defensively

but it is ALWAYS CHARGING

not really, after it bounces off walls (TK1 it goes into reset for 1 seconds) the same goes for TK2 (it stays in the middle for 1.5 s) in that window you can hit it without any drawbacks

Thank you! We had a pause button before, but we removed it to avoid abusing it to stop Time, re-aim etc… we want to make it the ultimate speedrunning game

The fight in the Arena Is at most 1 minute, then the game “pauses” in the game over screen and upgrade tree (if speedrunning is a concern, the timer runs only inside the arena). Even if you have an emergency, the fights are so short that there is close to no drawbacks, you still farmed before that point and restart like usual

Cool! I like how the gameplay change a bit with much more dash.

I sometimes had to farm and the progress was slow at one moment because I was not interested in the magnet upgrade... but it's actually necessary to buy them.

The boss are thoughs, the first one more than the second, but I manage to do it!

Exactly 100 trial count at the end.

How do i fix the thing where you dont have to use ur cursor to dash.. LOWK ANNOYING

what do you mean? you have to use your cursor to dash, you can change it to move with the player or not in the settings in controls “relative mouse position”

No like i dont wanna use my mouse cursor, i wanna just use the move controls on keyboard, instead i need to use the cursor to move and dash

Unfortunately with WASD you can only aim in 8 directions, and in the late game you need much more precision, so we had to remove keyboard inputs only. Why you don’t want to use your mouse?

theres a reason behind it, one 1, its annoying and 2 im not used to it because the old version i can just move freely and dash where i want, but even so i really enjoy the game, i just want so i dont use my mousepad

Well you can still dash where you want, to where your mouse is pointing. Unfortunately since there are also other mechanics coming soon which definitely require a mouse, it is better to adapt earlier than later. I am glad you like it beside this inconvenience

VERY STUPID BATTLE WITH BOSS, just lucky but not skill battle, so STUPID

The game Is totally deterministic. All spawns of enemies and resources and each action the enemies do. You decide what happens based on this rules. It is literally 100% skill and 0% luck

Had my interest until I survived my first minute. Then I saw the boss fight and immediately knew I was going to hate it. Spent an hour or so getting all the upgrades and just can't seem to kill the boss so... Was a solid 4/5 when I started but now I doubt I'll ever take a second look.

There is a video on YouTube with a playthrough and the winning strategy, the idea is to dash and always kill a dasher while hitting the boss. So try to lure the dashers where the boss will land and then hit all of them. Killing dashers recharges the dash so that you can get multiple hits in each time and/or escape

You may already know this, but the knockback the 2nd boss applies to you when entering their 2nd phase can push you out of the boundaries of the game and get you stuck

I mainly play in the corners, so that's when it usually happened- camping the bottom left corner, hit the boss near a wall and they can just bounce you out

Some eaten inputs when it comes to dashing, could give better signposting as to hidden upgrades (Get boss to half health to unlock x - for example), Grind did feel quite monotonous at times but only for a certain few upgrades and once they were got it eased up (they still need looking at)

Feel like everything could be shifted around slightly to flow a little better but not a terrible game

For the progression, which part in particular felt slow and monotonous? Would love to dicuss it in more detail in our Discord server and would love for you to become an alpha tester :D

I can't say I remember all the upgrades but things like 9.9K blue orbs for uncapped spawn limit or just about any economical upgrade that has a notable effect, leading up to big breakthroughs
If it's taking like 10 runs for a single upgrade (and several of them like that), that's generally too much-
Leading up to Elites, getting the Elite multiplier, Dasher chips leading up to double damage, early Elite chips between like the 10 and 33 mark etc - can't quite go back and look because once you've completed a run the save becomes void

I have no issue with it feeling rare and needing to work for it, just feel the progression for a few key points like those could do with being smoothed out a bit, rather than hitting a flat wall and flattening everything else after you clear it - the high (sometimes only of fast progression, not even being stronger in the level itself) is less than the aggravation of beating your head against it over and over until you pass it, in this case

Very cool game. I can tell you crunched some numbers in order to balance the progression and difficulty. Left me on a tiny grind in order to buy the 9k upgrades but I never felt the game is unfair.

Some technical feedback: I got to fight the second boss pretty early, before buying any major green upgrades for second phase and for a long time I was left with forced game over whenever boss reached half of his life - it wasn't clear what should I upgrade in order to be able to kill the boss, or if I needed to upgrade anything at all.

Also, I encountered few random lags on a desktop version + sometimes I think I saw the upgrade screen popup for a split second couple of times, when I clicked and dragged mouse in the area of the top bar. The game is probably trying to drag the update screen - you might want to disable it during the time arena, or put it in a different scene if you haven't done it already.

For the second boss, yeah we plan on adding some dialogs to explain the situation better, for now we knoe it is confusing unfortunately.

the green upgrade tree feels like a punishment, either grind for ever or play a insanely difficult luck based boss, adding a feature to turn off some of the green upgrades would be great. cant say i enjoyed this game not fun hard, unfair hard

Green is economy. Increase progression speed, but also increase difficulty. The game is meant to be challenging. Everything in the game is completely deterministic. What you feel is unfairly hard for others is excitingly challenging. We plan on adding difficulty settings in the future ;)

another shitty no effort node buster clone. christ i hate whenever some shit tier game becomes popular and all the asshats just start hammering out copy/pasted palete swaps of that shit since its so effortless to make in the first place.

There's a bug when you first enter the upgrade screen where you have to click twice to buy an upgrade because the button won't highlight/register the click. This is on the downloaded version.

You can’t really nerf enemies, but you can get stronger, faster dash cooldowns, more damage until you eventually one shot the enemies etc… The game is meant to be challenging, but we plan on difficulty settings in the future

My only problem is with the dash mehanic.

hey how do you get past minute one? I don't seem to have enough energy to last untill then(that or it runs out too fast)

I kept running out at 58 or 59 seconds, so what worked for me was waiting around by a blue dot in the beginning, until my energy had dropped by ~100, then picking up the dot. Repeat with other dots until around 30 seconds, then play normally. I tried not to get hit at all or to dash unless necessary.

Have you tried killing dashers? with dash lifesteal upgrade (recover 100 energy per dasher kill) it is much much easier

I did try killing dashers. Maybe a skill issue on my part but the risk was too high of getting hit by one of them. ended up being less risky just avoiding them

It is mathematically impossible to achieve it without recovering from lifesteal :D

I have all the upgrades available and I'm having the same issue.

Mid-minute 2 causing extreme (almost computer crashing) lag on web

I'm not really sure what's going on, but maybe add a performance mode in the settings that disables the fancy graphical effects? (like the shininess around upgraded enemy drops, the stars in the upgrade background, and possibly some of the animations)

I really like how the game looks, but its almost unplayable with this lag 😭

PS this is on firefox browser

Download it, I had the same issues; but it was fixed when I played it offline!

Yeah unfortunately there is not much we can do. Godot is not really optimized for web, we already have it with all the graphics settings at minimum or disabled on web (and we even don’t allow to change them) The only thing that you could probably still improve is limiting the fps to the minimum. Or as Eros_hai suggested (thank you!) download it and all the performance issues should be solved and you can also play at max grapichal settings and enjoy the glow and other VFX we added but you can’t see on web

It's standard keypress for dash, so it's better for muscle memory. There's no reason to change defaults, unless you have a good reason to.

Are there supposed to be new upgrades after the first boss? It doesn't seem to be possible to make progress.
Also, the purple triangle drops don't disappear after picking them up.

This seems very odd… Did you get the Dash Trail and Elite Dasher Upgrades? After that you don’t see any new upgrades because you can’t get purple triangles apparently, which is very strange… Could you enter into the Discord Serve so that we can investigate the issue more accurately?

Cool game, though dashes immediately ending if you graze a wall (including with movement keys while dashing away from it) got very frustrating and caused me quite a few deaths. Maybe consider having dashes either bounce off or slide along walls rather than immediately ending? The sudden lack of invincibility is very jarring when you get used to the dash duration. I also agree with arijun that it may be worth cheating a little in the player's favour with regards to the boss fight hitboxes; perhaps allowing a few frames before actually killing the player?

Thank you so much! The wall canceling dash is a very known “bug” it is one of our priorities. For the boss invincibility frames, do you think fixing the bug above would make it less frustrating or we still need to have them?

I find that the boss issue is mainly with the tip of the boss being able to move at relatively high speeds, which can kill the player early (I was generally finding that I was dashing a couple of frames late when I died to trying to ram through the boss). Honestly the bosses are probably fair as-is, but slightly shrinking the box on the tip (or adding an extremely short timer - 5f or less) would lead to fewer feel-bad moments for the player when they dash a frame or two too late.

also, oftentimes i have a full dash bar and can't dash. i have to click multiple times. this occurs at the START of levels. particularly the boss level. i'm wondering if it's because the dash isn't really charged at the start and has to charge up but the UI shows it as full because it was full as of the last level END

We are still suprised, because we cannot reproduce this bug, we tested in multiple machines and none had this issue, we believe is something with the shaders of the Godot web build.

Can you tell us what browser are you using (I suppose you are playing on web)?

if there are 3 I still don’t know which one it is that it is causing the problem. We did test on most of them, and we did not find such bugs. We are thankful for bug reports because we can make the game better for everyone, but if we don’t understand the issue well enough, we can’t do that, that’s why I am asking, and the “standard” browser still doesn’t make me understand which on in particular, as everyone has their “standard” browser. As for the offenses, I will ignore them, be careful though you may be reported :)

Why is there no display for enemy health? I recall in a previous version that the enemies became more "hollow" the more damage they took. And I'm pretty sure the same thing was happening to the player. Why did this get removed?

This is very strange… We can see it just fine, maybe some settings of your browser? On the downloadable version it should work btw

i reboot my pc and now it looks like a previous version or something i cant even change quality on settings... any idea to fix it? (cant even copy to clipboard the save game)

Can you read the version number on bottom left? We just updated it with the new minute 2 content. The settings panel may not work on web, we will try to fix it asap

I would say this game is a 4/5, quite good for what it is.

The main pain point is the bossfight, although there are some mechanical issues throughout the game. I'll try to describe them since it seems no one else is (despite the developer asking).

General gameplay issues:

  1. It is very hard to tell when your boost is done charging, as well as how close it is to being done. The first issue can be solved by adding a halo or some other indicator when the boost is ready. But for the second, you might want to add a secondary bar in the side panel that repeats or replaces the boost charge gauge.
  2. Sometimes it can be hard to tell where your boost will put you. A ghost where you'd end up could solve this issue
  3. The upgrades seem pretty uneven in how useful they are, but maybe that's to be expected

Boss issues

  1. The boss is likely[1] too much of a difficulty jump, leaving a long-ish time where everything before the boss is easy but everything after hard
  2. Because the boss is so hard, it becomes almost pointless to continue into it until you're maxed out on upgrades. You won't beat the boss and you'll likely collect very few resources before you die.
  3. The boss's tail. I like that if feels tron-like, although the new mechanic came a little out of left field for a boss that's otherwise a bigger version of the other bad guys. However, frequently what will happen is I will try to boost behind the boss to stun, only to realize I was a milisecond too late, and the tail has popped into existance and insta-killed me. I would suggest either delaying when the tail becomes deadly, reduce the hurtbox on it, or have it so the stun also destroys an unconnected tail.
  4. The hit/hurtboxes in general should probably be reduced. If I boost near the boss in a safe spot and then he swivels and the tip of his nose touches one of my corners, that's insta-death. This is one of those times you should probably cheat for your player to make the game feel better.
  5. You might consider making infinitely repurchaseable upgrades after all the other upgrades are purchased, to keep the feeling of progression during the final stage, instead of it feeling like just slamming your head against the wall over and over. Alternatively, if other changes make the bossfight more managable, perhaps make a final upgrade that lets you skip the upgrade page (since it's now pointless--no more upgrades available)

Possible improvements

  1. The two most fun parts of the game are the collection/upgrade loop, and boosting through enemies. The former falls off later in the game as collecting becomes more of a slog and there are fewer killer upgrades left. To make the later part of the game better you might consider adding extra boost gauges as an upgrade, so people can have more fun blasting through their enemies. It might require a bit of a difficulty rebalance, though
  2. As a webgame, this game has the perfect amount of content, but if it's going on steam where people pay for it, it will probably need more bosses, enemies, and upgrades. I might suggest an enemy that has some version of the boss's tron tail, to get players used to that mechanic
  3. Also, the name is not great.

[1] Different games target different difficulty curves so it's hard for me to say for sure what a difficulty curve "should" be. Some players want animal crossing and some want dark souls. However, a sharp spike in difficulty is a sign to me of game needing better balance.

I would love to discuss with you further and answer everything, but I think it will probably be easier to communicate on Discord rather than here if you want.

In short, I agree with basically everything you said, and everything is on its way, consider that this is very early in development and much more content and polish is planned.

The only thing I don't quite agree is the boss feeling not worth the grind, consider that during it everything has reached max value, and later on you also get resource multiplier to boost your economy even better and it is basically much better to farm during the boss rather than before it.

Maybe make the resource multiplier immediately unlock at the boss, and then make it upgradable.

But overall I agree that especially early on it is too difficult to survive during the boss fight.

I would still love to discuss it further on Discords :)

Awesome game.  Love the upgrade system.  Feels fair and balanced, up until the boss fight.  Boss is brutally hard, even after the last upgrade (the boss mechanics are counter-intuitive, but eventually you get used to it).  Did manage to beat it eventually after getting all the upgrades.
