Install instructions
To download & install Hero's Advent:
Step 1: Download Heros Advent 1.3 Windows.zip or Heros Advent 1.3 Mac from the Download section above
Step 2: Unzip the file
Step 3: Open the Game.exe file
Opening Hero's Advent on Mac OS may take some more effort depending on the kind of processor your computer has. The game should open fine if your Mac computer is running with an Intel processor, but you'll need to find some workarounds if your Mac is running an M series processor. If your computer runs the latter, I suggest downloading and setting up this RPG Maker Mac Launcher to launch the game: RPG maker launcher for MacOS/OSX [3.3] | RPG Maker Forums
Step 4: Enjoy the game!

Gonna be honest, I went into this game with low expectations but thought I'd give it a shot anyways. And MAN was I wrong. Despite a few relatively minor criticisms (such as random encounters being too frequent, even with encounter decreasers) the game was such a refreshing experience to play.
First off, the soundtrack (which was my main draw to the game, given the tracks of MS+) was an absolute banger and by far, my greatest praise for this game. It not only sound great but also does a really good job of setting the tone of different events and encounters throughout the story. The various characters were unique, memorable, relatable, and overall, well written (I really liked Hygluk's character arc the most). The humor was pretty good and the game is self aware enough to know when to not overdo it. The graphics are serviceable, but the game doesn't use it as a crutch. In terms of combat, the game doesn't strive to be innovative (aside from some of the gimmick fights, which were pretty cool), but it is clear that its not the main point of the game anyways.
One of the things that makes or breaks an RPG game (or any game for that matter) is its ability to keep me meaningfully engaged. I felt that the game always had something to surprise me with, whether it was something funny or plot-related. As of writing this, I have completed the game including all sidequests and secret encounters, which shows that the game was able to do that well.
I've yapped for far too long so I will conclude with the following: This game truly is a hidden gem and I hope that more people can find and play it. I don't think I will be forgetting this game for a long time. If you are reading this, Jorel, thank you for creating such a memorable and soulful game. It might sound funny that aside from Deltarune, I genuinely struggled to find an RPG game that kept me engaged enough to not quit it a couple of hours in. I am eagerly looking forward to playing whatever you may put out in the future.
Final rating: 7.5/10
Is there a discord for this game?
No. There's literally nothing for this game except for this itch page.
Hey, Chaotic_oven. Just wanted to let you know that there is now a discord for this game. The invite is in the Development log above. I know you probably don't care much about that now at this point, but I thought I would let you know anyway.
There’s only a couple suggestions I have (I’m enjoying the game a lot btw): a full screen toggle, and the ability to change the controls
Hello again. You should be able to toggle full screen by pressing F4. Can't help you with changing controls. I'll try and include that in a future version.
By the way, I really appreciate the criticism, so if you have any other comments, critiques, or suggestions, I'd be happy to hear them.
Is there a wiki or a game guide? I'm stuck on a certain part
No game guide exists at the moment. But I'd be happy to help you right here. Where are you stuck?
Nevermind, I was just going around the wrong direction when I followed the red line in the forest
Bruh, i got here because i liked the soundtrack
Hey, thanks for checking the game out. I can't say that the gameplay matches the music in terms of quality, but I hope you get some enjoyment out of it.
Yeah, the music is so cool bro, and something i can say after playing the first hours is that your game has personality, something that other RPG Maker games doesn't have. Is a cool game at least from the part i'm now.
also the name of the game happens to be the same as a weird furry visual novel game
Yeah, I realized that after I was finished uploading my game to Itch, and I wasn't about to change the name at that point. It's an unfortunate coincidence, but whatever. Maybe if I develop a version 2.0 someday, I'll change the name then.
i dont even know why someone would name a furry visual novel "Hero's Advent"
I guarantee you that it's less to do with heroes and more to do with...something else.
unfortunately i understand what your talking about
Not checking your name for availabilty is a phenomenal stupidity the likes of which I haven't heard of in a while. It should be your number one priority when releasing a new game. Just wow.
Also before attacking furries, *maybe* make sure your own game doesn't suck first.
Have a nice day.
really enjoying the game so far
i like how your OP gear gets immediately taken at the start
