Termina is upon us, and I love it. Playing with every character is an unique experience, and all of the different ways the story can go is interesting. Also thanks for the Easy(er) mode to give beginners a chance to get used to the game. Only complaint would be a few glitches here and there, but overall this is a solid 8/10 for me.

I apologize in advance for repeating a rather common criticism, especially considering that this is the beta version, but still:

Mario horror game? Sounds interesting! Luigi's Mansion proved it could work! So where the hell is King Boo, then? I mean, the setting is a ghost-infested mansion and the plot is dead serious! King Boo would've fitted in perfectly as the main antagonist, and he's completely absent in favor of an OC.

In fact, Mario feels like he could've been taken out of the story and replaced with another OC and nothing would really change. A good, proven-to-work premise of a Mario horror game, and it's wasted by the fact that the only three characters from the franchise who actually appear are Mario, Luigi and Peach, and they basically play second fiddle to a bunch of OCs.

Also, I know you call it "edgy" and it was made to deal with health conditions, but the "edgy" content goes way over-the-top sometimes. It's Mario! Mario is meant to be funny, and silly, and goofy! Even Luigi's Mansion knows when to crack a joke! And he's expected to be taken seriously?

Again, art style's good, and it could've been a serviceable explorer horror, if it wasn't for the fact that it just had to have Mario basically making it a joke.

I honestly love this game. It has that LISA charm and the multiple routes are a cherry on top.

I honestly couldn't get past the premise. Luigi's Mansion showed us a Mario horror game could work, as long as it embraced the fact that Mario and Luigi are inherently funny, and tried not to be too grim and disturbing for its own good. I can tell it's a Mario game that feels ashamed to be a Mario game when the titular character sticks out like a sore thumb, barely acts like how he does in the franchise, feels almost superfluous, and yet is expected to be taken dead seriously.

I think you could've taken two different paths with this game and I would've liked it better:

Option 1: Get rid of all the Mario content and rewrite them into original characters. Just make it "The Music Box", so it could stand on its own two feet, with all of its horror intact, without having to resort to unnecessary star power.

Option 2: Embrace the Mario content. Have the flying off the screen death animations. Have the side cast be Goombas, Yoshis, Toads, etc. Get the Boos involved somehow because this is a ghost story. And play the concept of "Mario in a horror game!" for humor.

At least the art style's good, that's a bonus.

I honestly didn't like the characters. Hardly anyone's likable, especially when all of their confessions come out of left field and Alex somehow completely forgets about it after a scene or two. Marjorie can barely go two sentences without mentioning cookies and it gets really annoying. Evan spends his whole screentime basically screaming with his appearance and personality that he's a bad guy, and yet the game expects you to be surprised when he turns out to be a bad guy.

I hope you can improve your writing from here.
