Ranked from 33 ratings. Score is adjusted from raw score by the median number of ratings per game in the jam.

How does the game fit the theme?
We think this concept fits the theme of "strange places" in the sense that the player constructs potentially endless and unfamiliar spaces for FJ to explore. Because rooms from the maze disappear as FJ moves away from them, he can walk through the same spot twice and find himself in an entirely new room.

What code and assets did you not make from scratch during the jam (if any)?
FMod, Unity, and a collection type (priority queue) from Atlas (an open source game dev library by David Knopp). All other code and all the art and audio were made by us during the jam.

How many people worked on the game?

Not too difficult, but the idea has a ton of potential and is executed well! Deciding what the best time to place my cheese was was a lot of fun.

Thanking you for playing and for your feedback!

Jones v cute

Nailed the music, it was super fitting and set a great vibe for you to go splorin.
I could see you expanding this into a sort of deck builder game with all sorts of different tiles. The lil mouse deserves all the enrichment as possible of course.

Nice Work!

Developer

Thank you so much for playing and your feedback! I like the idea of this as a deck builder; we might explore that.

Cute little game, it would be cool to add some items that increases FJs movements or changes his behaviour a little. Could be expande dout into a bigger puzzle game. Nice work!

Developer

Thank you so much for playing! Those are such great suggestions. We would love to add some complexity to this game. We really enjoyed making it for the jam and want to expand it!

I've had a lot of fun playing this! Super cool concept and in my opinion it's pretty cute! You should update this in the future!

Developer

Thank you so much for playing! We are so happy you enjoyed it. We would love to extend this in the future.

This is a delightful game, really nice job! The rules aren't too complex, but with a turn-based system like this, it's great to have a proper tutorial which you delivered on in spades. Something beyond moving around rather aimlessly would be a nice addition, but it's still a fun experience and I enjoy games where the main character has a mind of their own like this. Great job!

Thank you so much! We're glad you enjoyed it.

Very cool game! I liked the concept of forgetting rooms so you could build an everlasting journey for little FJ. Had a lot of fun!

Developer

Thank you so much for playing! We're glad you had fun.

Clean, coherent visuals and nicely polished audio. The core idea is fun and easy to get into, and it has strong potential for expansion with additional objectives or room types. Overall, great and enjoyable experience.

Developer

Thank you for playing and leaving feedback! Glad you enjoyed it.

Very cool game, FJ the rat is my favorite rat!

I feel like this could be expanded into something interesting with some other objectives like an exit or interesting rooms you could obtain. Good job!

Developer

Thank you for playing! FJ is honored. I really like the idea of exits and I think we could add some interesting room variations when we revisit this. Thank you for the feedback!

I agree with Ar comment that some other objectives would make it more engaging. In the current situation, it quickly becomes clear that we are going to go round in circles and wait to give the cheese as late as possible. Apart from that the visuals were well polished, audio as well, it was chill to play, great job! :)

Developer

Thank you so much for playing and for the feedback! I agree with both of you as well, some more clear goals for FJ would be a great addition.

Interesting game! It just needs some objectives to make it more engaging. I guide FJ to circle the area and we got 70 points. Nice work overall!

Developer(+1)

Thank you so much for playing! 70 is impressive; FJ definitely got his steps in. We'll absolutely add more concrete objectives when we revisit this game; thank you for the advice.

Another rat game i've played in this jam :)

Very nice, coherent visuals and puzzle mechanics, although when i got the ratto into mosey mode i had the worst luck and he just went back and forth in a corridor for about six turns.

Developer

Thank you for playing and for the helpful feedback! We'll look into making FJ's mosey mode a bit less aimless when we revisit this game.

Really cute theme for this game! Enjoyed creating an endless maze for FJ, but never felt like there was much danger of failing and ended up stopping before them. Still thought it was fun though!

Developer

Thank you so much for playing and for the helpful feedback. We are glad you enjoyed it!

Nice game, little too easy, but otherwise, fun and interesting.

Developer

Thank you for playing and leaving helpful feedback!

This is a very fun gameplay loop! I wish it were harder or there was an objective. Something. I had a lot of fun but Eventually I just stopped because it didn't seem I would ever fail of natural causes! lol regardless, I still played for a shockingly long time haha High score - 48

Developer

Thank you for playing and for your feedback! We'll take it into account when we pick this game back up. 48 points is a very solid run, too; FJ definitely got his exercise.

cool game, i love the idea

This was the chill game i didn't know i needed lol. Music was awesome. The concept was great. The instructions were clear. I was very engaged in the mechanic and found more depth to the disapearing blocks than expected. I really didn't even think about the diamond when i read the instructions, but it quickly became my main source of anxiety during my playtime lmao. Awesome job team! Keep making great games.

Developer

Thank you so much for playing and the nice feedback! We're glad you enjoyed it.

Nice, unique little game - I enjoyed seeing FJ move around the maze I put together, very cute! I was just missing a clearer goal, like a destination to get to or a reason to get more points (something I think my game is missing too, btw). Although, maybe keeping FJ energised and enriched for as long as possible should have been reason enough for me!

Developer(+1)

Thank you for the feedback! I agree, giving FJ a mission might have lent the game a little extra something. I think if we revisit the game we'll definitely incorporate something like that.

Submitted(+3)

Really neat idea. Placing tiles felt very good, and the music and sound worked really well with the gameplay. Great work!

Developer(+1)

Thanks so much!

My homie just doesn’t wanna move where I place new blocks sometimes, but anyway, cool game!

Developer

Oh hmm. What you're describing could be intended behavior (if  the new blocks aren't right next to the cell FJ is in), or it could be a bug. We'll look into it! Thank you for the feedback and for playing.
