Build your own pixel characters using ready-made art. Customize and export in seconds for any project. · By
It's okay if you are using it in your game for character customization! On export, you can select what layers you want exported depending on how extensive you want the customization. Currently everything is split into different parts, so you can keep it the same or export things together. (For example: exporting Shirt and Shirt sleeve together to make 1 sprite to swap through). It will be a bit tedious depending on how customizable you want your creator to be. When the Custom Sprites update drops, I'll be sure to add easier access to the assets for everyone who wants character creators in their games.
I'm loving using this in my project! Really good work!
But I'm really excited about the dialogue portraits and fantasy theme, and the climb animation. Any news about when it is coming?
With dialogue portraits and fantasy themes this will be the strongest tool for creating retro JRPG characters in the internet! haha
Also, I would like to suggest different body shapes (like fat or muscly, for more diversity to NPCs or even main characters), don't know if it's possible, but I leave here my suggestion, it would be awesome!
All the best! Thanks!
So happy to hear you are enjoying the tool!
I am currently animating Battle 1 animations, so when those are finished I can start the Adventuring animations for you! For the fantasy theme, is there anything in particular you would like to see?
Dialogue portraits will probably be awhile. I am currently trying to find a portrait style that I am happy with. Whenever I find that I will slowly start working on that on the side. It won't become my main focus until I finish all of the animations I have planned.
Thank you for the suggestion! I do want different body shapes eventually but those would come after I finish all of the animations for this body.
I wish I could give you even a rough estimate on those but it's only me doing the art. The battle 1&2 animations and adventure animations are the most time consuming, so after those it should go a lot quicker!
maybe some adress, like clothes for mage, or effects, like sparkles, more horn options. maybe hair options, like a snake hair or something like that. i'm a coder, not artist, so i don't know if this is possible or has a high difficulty. u can turn your models to 3D, and make the animations by blender, will be much more easier... and u can aplly physics and collisions or even some python addons.
Yes, fantasy stuff for JRPG games, maybe Dragon Quest inspired would be awesome! Like Knight armors, leather armors, helmets, mage hats, circlets and tiaras, bandanas, swords, axes, bow and arrow, staffs, magic orbs (orbiting with glow), crowns for kings and queens, princess dress, king's clothes, adventurers clothes, beast like or goblin like expression, pointy teeth, large mouth, little fairies... Many things which could be used both for adventurers or NPCs in a fantasy game.
Thanks for the great work!
