Really cool rowing mechanic! I kept getting lost and disoriented whenever something scary happened. Keep it up! :)

Thanks a lot for taking the time to check it out!

What a solid game this was indeed! Pretty well made especially for the boat mechanics. Felt super realistic for sure and gave me a nice arm workout haha. Loved the increase in fog and overall eerieness too overtime. This is truly a underrated masterpiece. Made a video on it.

I had a bit of trouble trying to get the controls to work, but I think that was more on my part! XD Once I got it down, it went by much smoother! I really enjoyed playing it! And those poor people! Good job!

Thanks a lot for your playthrough and for giving it a shot. I just mentioned this in another comment, but I did release an update that O hope helped to fix some of these frustrations. Glad you eventually got it working!

No problem! Thank you for making such a fun game!

Thank you for the invitation to play, the video is now up. As others have said, while its a brilliant mechanic, the rowing can be awkward and slows down the flow of the game a bit - but it's nearly there, a few more tweaks and it could be pretty bang on. But keep up the good work! Following to keep an eye on future projects :)

Thanks a lot for checking it out and I can't wait to check out the video! Not sure which version you may have had downloaded, but I released an update a couple of days ago that *hopefully* cleared up some of those errors.

Anyway, thanks again!

I’m not sure if that’s how you control a boat in real life, since I’ve never been on one, but it can get pretty frustrating at times. Still, it’s an interesting, simple little game — just very stressful because of that boat. I’m also curious what updates you plan to bring in the future and how you’ll improve the game. Keep up the good work

Thanks for checking it out! Yeah, translating boat rowing controls to digital format was kind of a tough go, and as I'm figuring out there are still some rough edges.

For this game, aside from bug fixes and updated rowing controls, this is probably it. As a hobbyist I only really have time to make little one-and-done experiences, so I don't think this one will go much deeper than this (no pun intended).

Can't wait to watch your video and I appreciate your time checking it out!

As this was recommended to me by you I will be giving my honest critique:

This game was great for the most part, I might have not shown that too much as I was still recovering from an annoying cold alongside one issue I will get to later.

Pros:

  • The story was very unique, having to traverse a lake holding a dark history within it's deep abyss that eventually claims you as well is very interesting.
  • The controls were also a chance of pace from other horror games I played, having to actually put in effort to move your boat around gives a more realistic approach.

Cons:

  • I only have one and that is ironically the controls, as much as I do like them it was a chore to wrestle with the rowing. Trying to turn left whilst the game thinks I'm going right, going foward when I want to go backwards. I think you need to polish up that mechanic just a bit more. I'm just glad there wasn't any chase scenario, otherwise I would have likely not have uploaded lol...

Regardless you have something great here, just experiement more with the rowing mechanic.

Thanks a lot for playing and for the feedback. The controls were definitely something I think I just got used to after testing for a while, but the feedback has generally leaned that they are frustrating and wonky. One of the biggest fears was that the controls themselves would be too much a distraction from the game itself, and it seems at this point that that may be the case.

I have just released an update in which I tried to address some of these issues...hopefully when turning with one oar, using the opposite one will no longer keep you spinning in that direction.

I really appreciate your time in checking it out and making a video of it.

Have a great week!

This is an absolute banger. From the mechanics to the atmosphere to the whole lore of this game. I had fun a lot of fun playing this. Keep up the good work.

Thanks a lot for playing! Appreciate your time in checking it out and I am glad that you liked it. Have a great week!

Honestly really cool short horror game! Love the boat mechanic the fog and the atmosphere! I do think the boat controls could be tightened up a bit. Maybe with adding another button to press when you want the oar in the water since it was a bit annoying having it switch back and forth between going forward and reverse when I didn't want it to. Also the boat/oar image reference on screen is reversed so the point of the boat is actually the back of the boat while you are rowing if that makes sense. Overall great game and awesome job!

Hey, thanks a lot for checking it out! I am at work right now but I can't wait to check the video out.  Yeah, the rowing controls were something that I fought with on and off. Good to hear this kind of feedback, though, and I'll see if I can get something  a little more user friendly. I think just as a consequence of me testing the game for days on end got me used to the controls and I ended up taking that for granted.

Also, with the UI graphic, that's pretty funny that I missed that. Doh! Thanks for pointing it out. I'll throw a quick patch up fixing that ASAP.

Again, I really appreciate your time.

Have a great one!

Andy
