What was available was very well presented, I enjoyed the little interactions, and I can see the potential. Thinking a river king style adventure. Charming submission, good work and I hope you continue with this project or your next inspiration.

Developer

thanks for the nice words!!

I’m really sorry I couldn’t do much contents, I shall be more clever the next jam I do

Submitted(+1)

Looks great! It always sucks when you realize that you aren't going to finish your entry for one of these jams- but I'm glad you still submitted it!

Developer

thanks a lot for the nice words :D

yeah, “submit on any case, if only for making the other entries look good” XD no really last jam I did I couldn’t submit (IRL events) and then you can’t rate other people’s entries, double pain T_T

Submitted(+1)

A great start, you can really imagine this on a Game Boy. I hope you keep working on the game.

Developer

thanks a lot for testing!!

Sad it's not finished, It could be a interesting entry. I like the music. What's a bit disappointing is that it's a n-th game I play about unlucky cat, too obvious. And gameplay is also terribly cliched, sooo simple (even if it was finished) it's a n-th game I see, rpg-engine-style about unlucky cat that is "walking around fixing unlucky things". Could be more creative on that.

Developer(+1)

I’m really sorry you wasted your time and energy into testing this unfinished, uncreative cliched game. Next time, maybe you can be a bit more supportive in your comments

Hey! I did not not said you wasted my time. Every entry is worth spending time on. I said it's sad the game is unifished because this could be interesting if you had a bit more time to finish it, maybe do something creative. I just said that for me gameboy means creative games and the template you have used for this demo is not. It's too simple for a gameboy game (even if it was finished). For me gameboy means: Pokemon Pinball, Trip World, Kirby, Gargolyes Quest etc. And it's a bit disappointing to see next game that is RPG maker style point and click. It's a honest feedback, if the theme would be "blocks" every obivous tetris clone would be a bit disappointing.

I like the overworld music a lot and the all the overworld sprites look great. I couldn’t get to fixing the roof so it was pretty short but it’s a nice start.

Developer(+1)

thanks a lot for testing it out :D

yeah unfortunately I didn’t have the time to implement properly the roof fixing x_x even the events were properly setup

Submitted(+1)

the dripping animation looked great, I’d definitely play a bigger version, I was looking forward to doing some fishing tbh

Developer

same, really XD I wanted to have lots of minigames and so

looks like I really need to do that now!! (also this shall give me training until the next jam where I can pop again gbstudio)

Submitted(+1)

Looks like a good start here!  I like the music.

Developer

thanks a lot! :D

Submitted(+1)

A good start, even if there isn't much content at the moment. I think you should keep at it and make a complete game off of what you have!

Developer

yeah I think I will :D thanks a lot for testing it!!

Submitted(+1)

What you have here is a good start. I enjoy the style you went with, and understand that you just didn't get to do what you wanted. Still, I'm glad you submitted! I also appreciate that you made it a real GB game, so points for that. Keep up the good work!

Developer

thanks a lot for the nice words and having tested!! :D

Jams are tough and I understand your frustration about not finishing things to your standard, but it’s impressive to me that people even try to make real GB games in just a week!

The art in this game is very cute and the music is nice, too. I can see what you were going for with the game’s progression, and what is here is fun! I really want to know what happens next haha.

I feel like you made a solid setup for your story here. Maybe you can finish it after the jam?

Developer(+1)

GBStudio definitely helped a lot!! it would have been released with even less contents if I had to take on the GBDK myself

I will try to continue developing it after I recover from the jam (+ I want to get more at ease with GBStudio for other jams) as I want to show more what I had in mind

thanks a lot for testing!!

Submitted(+1)

I'm so sorry you couldn't finish it, I really got hooked by this little intro. Good job!

Developer(+1)

thanks a lot :D I hope I can work a bit more on it so I can show what I had in mind!!

Submitted(+1)

Music and art are great, but for gameplay, I kinda confuse where I need to go for the objective. But good work

Developer

Thanks for testing it!

yeah that’s part where I struggled to think about something fun and I overslept on the last night and I didn’t have the time the actual fun stuff T_T I plan to work on it to add the actual game

next jam I’ll try to find a team so I don’t get stuck alone

Submitted(+1)

Charming art and music! Hope you continue developing!

Developer

thanks :D I sure will do!! I’m glad since I spend too much time on the music

I couldn’t do a 20th of what I wanted and I need to fix that (and do at least a 10th)

Submitted(+1)

A nice start, at the very least. I like the visuals, and the music hits the spot. Congrats on uploading anything though.

Developer

thanks a lot :D yeah it’s a very fraction of fraction of what I wanted to convey, I’ll do my best to add more gameplay and contents

Submitted(+1)

Although nothing captures the Game Boy Soul better than a GB ROM, you probably should have forced the background’s palette on the sprites, since GBC renders those using three additional colours.

Developer

that’s a weirdly specific issue you’ve mentioned - you’d get colors only if you played on the GBC, which is also the case for most GB games, and on the GBC you can also choose the palettes for these games at startup (the key combo). My priorities were a lot more focused on adding as much gameplay/content as I could (this is still a jam game) since I was so late XD

also, I checked a bit GBStudio, I only applied the Monochrome option and I’m not sure you can have a preferred GBC palette until you make it GB+GBC, which I didn’t want as I was scared some kind of glitch would make more than 4 colors popup (I tend to be unlucky myself soooo…)

Also, I don’t think that’s the main issue with the game TBH XD I guess each one has their priorities

also, I think I’ll make the next version in color (GBC)

Submitted(+1)

Looking forward to see where this game is headed. Keep it up!

Developer

thanks :D I think that’s the first year I get so many encouraging comments so I might as well keep working on it!!

Submitted(+1)

Congrats on your submission!  It's a shame it wasn't finished, but I liked where you were going with it.

Developer(+1)

thanks a lot for testing :D

hopefully the end game doesn’t end up being as depressive as this very small fraction XD

Submitted(+1)

That was a neat demo. The art is readable, and the goals were clearly outlined. Hopping didn't seem to cause glitches, which is good. It's a nice change of pace to have a lighter shade of cat being unlucky!

Congratulations on the submission!

Developer(+1)

yeah, let’s remove the bad luck from black cats for once XD (I really love black cats) (these little fluffy black holes with eyes)

thanks a lot for the nice words!!! <3

Submitted(+1)

It's unlucky that the game isn't finished yet ;) but I really like the status. It would be cool if you could stick with it.

Developer(+1)

yeah definitely unlucky and not me having issues with time & focus management XD

oh what do you mean by status?

I think I’ll continue this game a bit so I can do at least a quarter of what I wanted to <3 thanks for the nice words and testing it <3

Submitted(+1)

meant the current state of your game :) i like the art, the jump animation of the cat and that you can interact with different things

Developer

ah right yeah that makes sense!!

thanks again

Submitted(+1)

The art is so cute!! I really like the sprite for the cat! I also enjoyed the music as well.

I think I got a bit softlocked in my first attempt, and I couldn't get out off of my house, but everything went well in my second try. I think it was when interacting with the kitchen!

Developer

thanks a lot :D

yeah I rushed things XD sorry couldn’t test much!! jumping tend to glitch stuff - and I need to understand more how works gbvm too!!

thanks for testing <3 <3 <3

Submitted(+1)

i enjoyed the art, too bad i couldn't fix the roof :(

Developer

yeah somehow the cat is always getting tired, how convenient XD

no that’s really the end, I didn’t had the time to do more unfortunately (and I submitted like 2 minutes before the deadline so I did cram as much as I could)

thanks for testing!! <3
