steam version doesn't  work

Hi, what do you mean by "steam version doesn't work"? Is it not launching, not downloading, is the link to the Steam page not working, is it freezing, crashing, or doing something weird? Does the Itch version work?

Thanks for the help.

(+1)

i download it but i cant play it

That's still not super specific. Does it start at all? Does it show a splash screen for a few seconds and then crash? Does it freeze? Can you please describe it in more detail? There are many ways a game can be rendered unplayable. Thanks again for your time.

the image shows the error

Thanks! Is this the version you downloaded from itch? If so, you should be able to download the new version from here and it should work. There was an issue with the download itch build.

Game is pretty! I've completed the demo in 1.5 hours (omg)
When full game? :D

Hey, thanks! I'm hoping the full game is gonna release in March, but we'll have to see what my publisher has to say about that lol

(+2)

MAN this game was funn. please use longer variables, preferably with no negative values, for the full game because going crazy at the end was super fun.
Best of luck! I hope this game does well

(+2)

Thank you! The full game lets you go much further than this version.

(+1)

Amazing! Wishlisted.

Thank you!!!!!

Bought everything, very fun game, but some of the effects are wrong, for example: dust particle says it gives 500%, but it doubles (still very op but just wanted to let you know it does something else) and i didn't feel anything from "gamer" so idk if that one works

Very fun game, looking forward for more updates/full game

Hey, thanks for the feedback! I'm making the full version, which has a steam page. (Wishlist pls!)

I'll look into the dust particle, and I think the gamer not seemingly doing anything is because he gives you a small percentage of gold, which is at first less than 1, so he doesn't do anything at first, but then once he does it's not really noticable.

(+1)

Understandable, ill look and wishlist it.

I would maybe suggest buffing gamer to give math.round()+1 rewards instead of math.round (just makes it so you always get 1, and it feels strong). or you could buff the effect, idk, but i hope to see more of this game =D

Good suggestion, although I think I'll make it so that the gamer adds the ball's gold to your gold when it hits the wall. I think that multiplying your total gold or gum is generally a bad idea anyways lol

Hey, just wanna let you know that you can now playtest the full version of the game! I've addressed some of the issues that you brought up. If you wanna try it out, here's a link where you can request access: https://store.steampowered.com/app/3724490/Idle_Gumball_Machine/

(1 edit) (+1)

This is the only peggle/pachinko style game I've ever seen that does squash and stretch on the balls. 10/10, unironically. The demo being ended with an integer overflow is brilliant, also.

edit: nvm it keeps going oh god

LOOOL thank you! I'm making a full version, so if you wanna play it, please give it a wishlist so I can afford to eat food! (I like food tbh) You can also give feedback and suggest things on the discord server. Here's links to both if you're interested.

And yeah, squash & stretch is OP

I'm dead broke atm, but I'm gonna wishlist that shit so Steam knows it's good. Perhaps I will find ten dollars by the time you turn this fucker loose. Maybe even twelve

Lol, thanks! It's probably gonna be a lot less than $10 btw

boingy orbs

(+1)

Indeed.

(+1)

Continued after the numbers broke and managed to make psychic beam fire 70 times per second, each peg have 0 starting hp and got 1 million gum after a lot of purchases of old gum, good game

Ha, thank you! Steam page coming soon btw...

(+1)

This is a very fun game, full of personality and juice. Well done!

Thank you very much! I think the "Gamer" upgrade has the most personality imo.

(+1)

When will the full version come out? Really fun game tho

Thank you! Working on getting a Steam page up, so get your wishlist finger ready! I don't have an exact release date, but it won't be TOO long. A better demo will probably be out fairly soon too.

(+1)

That was really fun. finished it secretly at work. can't wait for the full version. good luck

Thank you! I'm glad it was fun enough to risk your job over lol

(+3)

Finished in 30 minutes. It was fun. I wanted to play a little just for the sake of it but number overflow broke the game

(+1)

Thank you! The full version is gonna be longer. I'll also try to make it so that you can play indefinitely. (for now, you can "ascend" by reloading the page or closing/opening the game lol)

might wanna fix the web version fullscreen where only the bottom left is visible and the other 3 areas are jsut black

(1 edit) (+1)

Hi, thanks for the feedback! I'm not sure what you mean though by the bottom left being visible and the rest being black. Are you able to send a screenshot?

Also, which OS and browser are you using?

(+1)

Hi, I use windows 10, the most recent firefox.

If I use fullscreen mode, it looks like this:

like only the bottm left quarter of the area is visible.I checked, you can click elsewhere and the game behaves like normal, you jsut cant see it since it is black

Thanks for the details! I'm not sure how I'd fix this, but there is a downloadable version that you can try. No one else has reported this issue, so for now I'm gonna assume that your computer is doing something weird. Is this happening with any other web games on itch?

(+1)

Well, might be my computer since it is many years old, so wouldnt be surprised about anything. It aint really an issue, I jsut play the game in browser in normal mode (without going fullscreen).
It might be my computer, or in fact my firefox since other games for a while now had a similar problem:you know, when on an itch page with a web game, you click the games play button and a popup with the actual game opens?in firfox that popup stays black.like I see the godot loading screen thing but when the actual game would be playing, only black/grey screen. When I use chrome that aint happpeneing.
Didnt have this before but had this happen in firefox since a while ago.

so yeah, likely jsut my computer or firefox messing around.might evne be jsut some adblocker issue, who knows?

(+1)

Ok, thanks for the additional info. I'm just gonna call it a non-issue and continue work on the full game.

(+2)

the most satisfying incremental game i've ever played! the integer overflows are annoying though :[

(+2)

Thank you! If I expand this, it'll be longer of course and will probably have a better ending.

Hey, just wanna let you know that you can now playtest the full version of the game! I've fixed the integer overflow issue. You can keep on going for a very very long time now. If you wanna try it out, here's a link where you can request access: https://store.steampowered.com/app/3724490/Idle_Gumball_Machine/
