This was a fun game to play. It reminded me of some of the retro platformers such as Castlevania and Ninja Gaiden. The difficulty settings are perfect, and the game mechanics are easy to understand. I recommend anyone to try this game.
Following up on my comment on the B&W version, this difficulty setting is great! I finished it and the final boss in particular on difficult level had just the kind of frustration I was looking for. Got only as high as A tier. Nice work!

Short and sweet platformer with beautiful graphics! Difficulty scaling is very good - on easy mode you just breeze through the game, but on hard I wasn't even able to beat the final boss 😵💫. Everything works great here - though I must admit that I found shurikens to be pretty much useless, as they deal same damage as whip and aren't that much easier to use. But that's only a tiny complaint, otherwise outstanding job! Looking forward to more of your work!
Just to clarify, the point of the shuriken is range, long range for ammo vs short range for free, yeah, you can play through the whole game without using them, but they do make you able to deal with enemies and bosses from a safer distance.

I just beat the DX version on Hard mode. It was quite a challenge. Ha ha!

Minor bug report: The clouds are simultaneously behind the mountains, and in front of the ghosts in the second area.
Nothing I can do about that, I have no control over sprite rendering order in GB Studio.
