Welcome to Moop! We want to promote open-source in games development by hosting Game Jams.
Theme: "Open" (interpret it however you like)
PEN x Moop is a collaboration between a new online community forum called 'Paper Empathy Network' (more offline hobby related) and Moop, aka us!
Moop will be a bi-monthly game jam where the limitation is 'open-source', meaning your game has to be made using some open-source!
The theme will be different each time and suggestions are always welcome in the Community tab on itch io, or in our section of the PEN x Moop online forum.
Be it solo developement, in teams, beginners or veteran game devs, everyone is welcome!
You get 2 weeks to work on it, and then 2 weeks for playing everyone else's game submissions and voting. We then take a month off so that people can join other Game Jams on Itch IO or just to have a little rest as a treat lol
RULES:
- Open-source software needs to be used, it doesn't have to be 100% open source (although that'd be amazing!) but at least some open-source software needs to be used during development (e.g. any open-source game engines (like Godot, Ren'Py, etc) and/or art/modelling programs (like Krita, Blender, etc)).
- No Gen AI is allowed (we want games made with love by real people, it doesn't have to be a massive or fully fledged AAA game submission, it's ok if it has a few bugs or you couldn't fully finish it on time, it just has to be done by humans).
- You don't have to share your source code or repo and make the game submission itself open sourced but it is HIGHLY encouraged! (We understand newbie game devs might not have experience with using version control like Git or Codeberg. Learning how to use version control is incredibly useful though, so you're free to experiment with learning how to do so in these Game Jams if you wish).
- Try to keep it generally SFW (general fighting games and horrors are fine but no sexual content, please).
- No discrimination and/or hate speech against any marginilised communities.
No submissions match your filter
