Okay so I don’t think this fits the theme great but I did have a lot of fun with the physics driven combat in this. I don’t have much to say given it’s kind of just a vertical slice, but it’s pretty fun! Look forwards to seeing a more finished version some day hopefully.

Theme interpretation and application
Theres a little bit more in the description of the game, but the enemies are all junk lovers (which in my head is like the opposite of minimalist) and you play as a minimalist. I also tried to keep the pallettes pretty minimal.

Quite a nice prototype! The graphics have a nice retro vibe and I really liked the music playing near the healing stations. The voice acting and the sounds for punching were also amazing, and punching in general was super fun and satisfying - I loved how fast you could swing by alternating buttons, and punching out doors never got old!
That said, it was hard to tell when an enemy was about to damage you at times, and hard to avoid said damage, so after a while I started just avoiding them. It was also hard to stay on the crab, and it took a very long time to come back if you fell off and respawned.
On the other hand, special props for actually having kill planes in death pits - you'd be surprised how many short prototypes missed that part and had you falling endlessly and having to quit the game. I managed to beat up the giant bee and the game said "Nice," so I guess that's the end? Either way, had a great time punching things while it lasted!
DUDEUH Thank you! I'm actually surprised you beat the mystical giant bee and saw the "nice". I'm sad to say that indeed was the 5 minute crafts hot glue put together end of the game. BUT, it's really nice to know that you had a good time as I think that's probably the point of making games I think. The crab.. I don't wanna talk about the crab.. I feel the same way. I was like man this crab sucks but I'm a little limited on time and I think it might be better than an empty room. I think an empty room was the better option now. I'm still working on my combat skills and I defo agree the damage is a lil weird. Thank you for playing, also dope game btw.
I did not finish, but this is a cool project. The presentation is great and the sound design is fantastic. I love the voice acting and it's actually quite good. Punching things has some satisfying sounds. Good work !
I bought a bunch of damage rings, died, equipped them all, and was suddenly no longer able to damage enemies. This made it rather difficult to progress, so I unfortunately wasn’t able to beat this game. It seems like a neat concept though, and while the combat is a bit jank, it is pretty funny to flail around and punch your way through life.
NOOO BROOO I'M SORRY! Yeah the rings were something I made haphazardly in the very beginning as a little test thing and then I forgot about it while I was doing all of the other stuff, so by the time I added them back I never really tested it out. Next time I'm gonna focus up on elements like that I think I was just a little overwhelmed. Thank you for playing though!!
This one has that physics juice and some great character moments.
This was a lot of fun. Even outside of a jam context this fundamental approach of a first person game with super physics-y hands and objects to wave around feels like a recipe for a knockout game in the future. Played through to "NICE!" and had a great time. Awesome work!!
In a matter of seconds I was fully engaged in beating filth bags.
Very fun, the gameplay was very satisfying. Melee combat felt a bit unforgiving, as the fists were often missing the mark and the enemies just have to collide with you, but fighting was satisfying enough to overcome that caveat. Very creative interpretation of the theme, and my, was that voice acting?? It's so cool to see in a game jam context. The storyline was funny in itself and I got immediately hooked. Awesome stuff!
WOW thank you for playing! I totally agree with the combat stuff, it was a big challenge to make everything physics based and also have it feel good. There was a point in time where you could just vibrate on all of the enemies and kill them which was pretty funny but was also kind of lame. You already know I had to throw in a lil voice acting in there yknow what im sayin. (I couldn't figure out text dialogue). Thank you very much though.
I like the narrative based approach on the theme. Really like the physics of everything.
