I've been so caught up with school and my job recently that I haven't been able to interact with or communicate with the comics community or share my art. It really sucks because I would honestly love to read some more comics but I don't seem to have the time. Thus, this Jam came to mind!

Welcome to the "5 Times I almost Kissed You" Jam!

The prompt for this Jam is simple and it's in the title! Create a short comic about 5 times a character was almost kissed. This prompt can be interpreted in any way, whether it be wholesome, yearning, tense, tragic, or horror (Not sure how that would work but I do love me some Monster Romance)! 

Part of this Jam is indulging in Valentine's day, as it's one of my favorite holidays. Depending on if I get enough entries I would also love to host a Bundle featuring some of the entries! Scroll down to the bottom of this page to find the link to the Bundle Submission form! Though it would be later released around March-April I would still love to support fellow comic artists, especially after the bans on adult content. Due to the NSFW rules put in place by itch.io Any projects that include sexual content won’t be allowed for the bundle. However, I am totally fine if you link to or reference where to find the rest of your submission/your other works within your submission. So long as nothing uncensored or explicit is shared, I'd be glad to have you!

RULES

1. Entries are limited to those who are 18+, since some submissions may be NSFW I'd rather minors didn't submit at all.
2. THE USE OF GENERATIVE AI IS NOT ALLOWED.
3. No Bigotry, Racism, Hate speech, or inappropriate behavior/symbols. This should be a safe space and should be wholesome and welcoming.

This is the first ever Jam AND Bundle I've ever hosted, so please be patient with me as I figure things out! Or if you have any advice I'm very open to it!

FAQs

Is kissing allowed?

Yes! Despite the prompt kissing and multiple characters are totally allowed! The prompt is moreso a suggestion to help encourage thought!

If I already made something like this, can I submit it without making something new?

If you have something relating to the Prompt then go ahead and submit it! Otherwise, consider this Jam a challenge that will help you add something new to your comics Portfolio!

Can I start working on my Project before the Jam starts?

Of course!!! Start whenever you'd like, just try to meet the deadline if you want to join the bundle!

Are paid Projects allowed?

Sure! I always advocate for artists getting paid for their art! Though, I can't promise I'd buy it as a broke university student. I recommend leaving it free for a short period or at least for the duration of the Jam so others and myself can read and discover your work, however it is completely 100% your decision!

Are Fan works allowed?

Sure, I don't see why not! They probably just won't be allowed/included in the bundle, but are totally fine for the Jam!

Are we allowed to collaborate with another artist or writer for this Jam?

Collaboration is allowed so long as the submission is properly credited to those who contributed! If you decide to make your work available for commercial use it is the responsibility of you and your partner to decide how you'll divide the funds amongst yourselves.

Does this Jam have a Winner?

No, this is the first Jam I've ever hosted and I'm hosting it mostly to support Artists I know, and to discover Artists I don't. The idea was more so to try and get closer to the comics community by bringing them to me (in the form of this Jam) instead of struggling to find them. It's because of this that I didn't really want to pin anyone against each other or create a competitive setting. I just wanted to find new Artists and read sappy yearning comics :)

What do you mean by linking NSFW off-site?

There are Artists who will probably still want to make something suggestive, erotic, or of that nature, and I still want to support them! However, due to Itch's guidelines regarding the selling of NSFW content as a whole I'm not sure how else to approach accepting those types of submissions. I don't exactly want to get nerfed by Itch. That's why I recommend that if you do decide to include it, you cut off and link where to finish reading it, censor and link where to find the uncensored, or simply link to another site/or the complete work to avoid the both of us getting in trouble.
