Welcome to the Dragon's Isle Software Monthly Feedback Jam.

Anyone submitting to this jam is expected to take part in playing the other submissions and leaving a comment with feedback. You don't have to play every submission, or give a detailed full page report, just be part of the community and help others as they are helping you. Those who do not give any feedback will not be welcome in future jams.

Feedback can be vital to making a good game. We are looking to create a jam centered on giving, and getting, feedback. You can submit a new project, one you've been actively working on, or something you've had sitting in the closet and pulled out to work on. As long as you work on it during the jam period, feel free to submit it. You can submit multiple projects, as long as you actively worked on them during the jam period. If you are submitting multiple, please be willing to be more active in giving feedback to others as well. Submissions with no updates during the jam period will be removed. You can use any programming language and any game engine, including your own. We are focused on games, but you can submit non-game projects as well. There is no limit on team size, or skill level. You are free to submit to other jams.

The focus will be on leaving comments with feedback, but there will be ranking as well, to encourage playing and reviewing games. Based on our experience in similar jams, those without ranking (and a defined review period) tend to have fewer comments and plays. The ranking will have a single category of Recent Work/Making Progress. * We are always open to feedback ourselves, so feel free to let us know if you think this should be changed.

Uploads will not be locked at any time. Feel free to continue working on your project and uploading changes during voting. This jam is not about the score, but helping each other make better games.

Rules

  1. You must work on the project during the submission period. Please don't submit something that you have not worked on.
  2. You must have the rights to use all content in your submission.
  3. If you are forking the work of someone else, or otherwise building on another project, give credit where it is due.
  4. No generative AI. This includes assets, code, and the game's web page.
    • If you have used AI in your project in the past, but have completely removed it, it will be permitted. You must clearly state that it was used and has been removed.
  5. Any NSFW content must follow Itch's rules, and you must give a warning it is NSFW, preferably specifying in what way.
  6. Give trigger warnings where appropriate.
  7. We do not tolerate hate speech or bigotry of any kind. Do not submit anything promoting such content.
  8. Your game must be playable by others for free. If you have paid content, there must also be a jam version that is free.
  9. This jam is about giving and getting feedback. Please only submit if you are willing to play other submissions and give feedback during the voting period.
  10. SPAM submissions are not welcome. If you are submitting something to every jam you see, regardless of if it meets the requirements, we will assume you did not read, or do not care about, our rules either. Your submission will be removed without comment.

Recommendations

  • Games that are playable in browser are more likely to be played. We highly recommend including a web build.
  • If not offering a web build, offering for multiple OSes can help to get more plays
  • The submission form will ask for a summary of changes, but we recommend posting a devlog as well.

We will personally try to play as many web based submissions as we can during the voting period. We may play and comment during the submission period, when we have time. Download only submissions will be considered after those with web versions. We always try to leave good, honest, feedback for any jam game we play. Feel free to check out our past comments and the replies. We've been regularly told in jams that we leave good, detailed, feedback. We rate with 3 stars as the baseline/average. 5 stars are rare and for exceptional work.
