>> WHAT

Brno Game Jam 2026 is a 48-hour on-site game development hackathon organized by Matěj Hřebíček, in cooperation with official sponsors MADFINGER Games and Hangar 13.

The event is open to everyone - beginners, hobby developers, and professionals alike. Whether you already have a team or are looking for one on-site, game jams naturally bring together people with diverse skills who share a passion for game development and creativity.

This year’s edition is organized as a graduation (maturitní) project of Matěj Hřebíček, a student of Střední školy uměleckomanažerské v Brně. Besides game development, the jam also has a charitable purpose, giving the whole event a meaningful impact beyond games.

>> THEME

Vote for one of the following themes in the registration form:

  • Silence Is Dangerous
  • Loop
  • Alone Together
  • Quiet!
  • Against the Clock

The theme with the most votes will be revealed at the start of the jam.

>> WHERE

The jam takes place at KUMST creative hub Brno, Údolní 19 - a dedicated creative space perfect for a full weekend of game development.

We will provide basic refreshments, including baguettes, a toaster, soft drinks, energy drinks, water, and plenty of coffee. Showers and sleeping areas will be available, so bring your sleeping bags and mats if you plan to stay overnight.

The event is non-profit. The entry fee is voluntary, and all proceeds will be donated to Nadační fond dětské onkologie KRTEK, which supports personalized medicine and research on childhood cancer.

Capacity is limited, so make sure to register in time.

>> SPECIAL PROGRAM

Participants can look forward to a short presentation and seminar about game promotion on Steam, led by Tomáš Nawar from MADFINGER Games.

The seminar will focus on practical insights into Steam visibility, marketing basics, and common mistakes indie developers often make when releasing their games.

>> WHY

The biggest reward of any game jam is the experience of creating something from scratch. Still, we will also have physical prizes prepared for selected projects, provided by our official sponsors.

Industry professionals will be present during the event, offering feedback and mentorship. Combined with the jam's charitable goal, this makes Brno Game Jam 2026 an opportunity to create games with both creative and real-world impact.

>> JOINING

  1. Log in (or register) to your itch.io account and click “Join jam”
  2. Fill in the Google Form registration and vote for the jam theme
  3. Not required, but we highly recommend you join our Discord for further updates.

Each participant registers individually, regardless of team setup.

>> VOTING

Games will be evaluated by a jury selection.

During the review period, the game build cannot be updated, but the itch.io project page can still be edited.

Results will be announced online on Discord after the jam.

Despite the presence of prizes, don’t treat the game jam as a competition. It’s mainly about creativity, collaboration, and sharing ideas. Talk to other teams, play their games and help each other out.

>> RULES

  • Maximum team size: 4 members
  • All team members must be listed as co-authors
  • Builds must run on Windows 10+, Android 10+, or WebGL
  • VR projects are allowed, but accessibility may be limited

Official Jam Rule: Be excellent to each other.
