Collect points to reach the high-scores. Spend your points to survive and make your way through the levels. After each completed level you increase your score multiplier but you risk making the bullet hell more difficult.

What code and assets did you not make from scratch during the jam (if any)?
Sound effects and music are paid assets from Ovani Sound.

I was enjoying dodging bullets left, right and center, and trying to trick the enemies into shooting each other. It is a clever mechanic that you can't kill them directly, but you can do it indirectly.

At first, when I saw the "negative upgrade" screen, it was a bummer. But soon I realized, the more enemies, the more points I can ultimately get... as long as I don't die. So, although it seems like a negative upgrade, it is also positive at the same time. Again, that's clever.

Graphically it looks beautiful. The visuals are clear, and I like that you can faintly see shots through walls. That saved me a few times.

A few suggestions:

  1. There is a weird visual bug, where you sink further and further into the floor the longer you play the same level. See the screenshot at the end.
  2. In terms of balancing, I was asking myself: "Why should I proceed to the next level?" If all I want to do is maximize my highscore, the winning strategy is to stay around X5 and just play forever. I think the rewards/multiplier should scale faster, or you should get punished by staying on the same level for too long (e.g. it gets harder and harder).
  3. Perhaps "time survived" should be paused during the upgrade screen?
  4. An occasional positive upgrade would be cool... Increased speed, an extra life, etc.

All in all, a very polished game with some clever concepts. Well done.

Neat concept of having the enemy also be the weapon and the upgades applying to them.  As others have said, I wish that I could speed up aside from the dash.  Overall a solid entry - well done!

It's a nice idea, just maybe make everything a bit faster, like play movement and projectile speed.

I like how it fits the theme

Good luck

I really like the visuals and BGM.

The gameplay feels mostly great but there is scope of improvement with some tuning
There are some cool moments of dodging between projectiles.

Congrats on a really cool game!

Interesting jam game! Enjoyed it, though the BGMs become annoying over time.

Developer

Thank you RuspeLoke :) Yes we found it quite annoying as well over a longer period of time. We will look into a different music or even make our own next time.

I think the camera could have been a little higher to make it easier to navigate. I liked the atmosphere, the smooth animations, the visual effects and the fact that at each new level you decide how to make your role more difficult.

Hello Danil, thank you for the feedback! We agree with you and we will address the camera position in an upcoming future update.

Hi! I loved your game! It really managed to hook me in! The gameplay at the same time relaxing and challenging.

I was a little bit surprised by the upgrades between the levels - I mean usually in these types of games we get some new abilities but in yours we are upgrading enemies :D

Great idea that the bullets can bounce off of walls, it keeps you on your toes. Also, I like the idea of spending your points to help you in the game and that it subtracts from your score.
