Hy. This is a really good new game for the Amiga and I was very happy about it. After testing the game more extensively on various of my Amiga models, I discovered two problems, that the game still has and I hope, they can be fixed in an upcoming version.

(1) If you wait a while (for example two minutes or more) on the title-screen of the game (the screen, where this ball is rolling around) and then start the game, it brings a graphical-error and then crashes at the moment, when the first level normally should begin. If you immediately press the firebutton on this title-screen and start the game, this doesn't happen. But this bug should still be fixed, because I am sure, this should not happen. Sometimes the user has the game running and must do something else for a short moment or sometimes the user is waiting some minutes when he wanted to start the next game and then this problem occures.

(2) If you are using an Amiga model, that doesn't have Slowram included, such as a standard Amiga-600 (1MB Chipram and zero Slowram) or a standard Amiga-500Plus model for example, the game always crashes after the title-screen in a blackscreen. That's a bit sad, because not all Amiga owners have Slowram in their actual Amiga computers, because normally Chipram is better and faster, so it would be nice, if also this bug could be fixed, then "Tiny Pixel Adventure" would also run on any standard Amiga-600 and Amiga-500Plus machines and the game is good, therefore it's worth it.

Would be nice, if these two problems could be solved in an upcoming version of the game. If you "HooGames2017" don't have a real A600 or A500plus Amiga, you can easily reproduce this Slowram problem in good Amiga emulators, such as WinUAE or Denise for example. This will show the exact problem and the game's behaviour, when there's no Slowram available and might help, to solve the problem. Also the thing with the waiting-time in the title-screen, can be reproduced there, especially when the WARP mode in the emulators is used, because this makes it much faster, to reach the two or three minutes waiting-time. Regards.

I'm currently doing an update. Unfortunately, I don't have a 600 to test. I hope the problem will then be fixed.

Hy. Sounds good, that an update is planned. And like i already mentioned, you don't need a real Amiga600 or Amiga500Plus, because there are very good Amiga-emulators around, like for example WinUAE or Denise and you can emulate an A600 or an A500Plus Amiga with these. They are very very compatible (over 99,99% i would guess) and when your game works in an emulated A600 in these emulators, then it will work on a real A600 too, i am sure. At the moment, "Tiny Pixel Adventure" needs Slowram and this is the problem, when these two Amiga models are used.

Unfortunately, that's not entirely correct with the emulator. I've often found that it works without any problems on the emulator despite the correct settings, but there are problems on the actual hardware. I've also often had problems with new hardware, some of which have been fixed. So far, the games are running great on all common devices. I'll finish the update today.

Unfortunately, I won't be able to do the update today. I'll try to get it done next week. Sry :(

I wonder a bit about that statement, because in my experience, when you use WinUAE for example and you configure everything in this emulator, exactly as it is on your real Amiga model (including Kickstart, Chipset, Memory, etc) then WinUAE will behave, exactly like your real Amiga computer. I've never experienced any discrepancies, to be honest and I've run really alot Amiga-games and -demos in WinUAE in the last years. It even works, to freeze software in WinUAE, for example with an emulated Action-Replay3 cartridge and this freeze then also works on the real Amiga, when you copy the files over to a SD-Card and use it on the real machine with a HxC or with a Gotek floppy-emulator for example. And when even freezing works, then it an be seen, how accurately WinUAE is emulating here. If you don't recreate it in an emulator, it's difficult to adapt "Tiny Pixel Adventure" to all common Amiga models, because the alternative would be, to buy all these Amiga models and I am not sure, if it's worth it? Using an emulator is a good alternative here, if you ask me.

But nice, that you plan to release an update anyway. Looking forward to this. No rush, take your time.

That's not entirely true with WinUAE.

I speak from experience. As I said, I often play my games on an emulator and then test them on an Amiga 500. I repeatedly find that there can be problems. There is no such thing as 100 percent emulation with WinUAE. The best example was Phantom Leap before its release. I played it through on the emulator and it crashed immediately on an emulator.

I wish everyone a Merry Christmas and happy holidays.

Many thanks for the awesome game, you are now officially put into the best Amiga games of 2025 video

Thank you very much for your video. I watched it today. I'm glad you like my games. New games are coming next year. :)

This is the second game I've tried from you. And I really like the simple and effective gameplay, as well as the Kevin's Mom's House graphics.

In this video, I reach level 10  3 videos I complete the game (yes, I use save states quite a bit, even though thanks to your password system, they're far from essential, but it's just to counter the "live/video" effect, which always makes my game less enjoyable).

Level 1 to 10

Level 10 to 20

Level 20 to 30

Thank you for testing the game. I've had a look at it and I'll probably make it so that you can set a checkpoint at any time in easy mode (like in the collector boxed version of Dr DANGEROUS). That way you don't always have to save. There will probably also be a collectors boxed version of Tiny Pixel Adventure.

With pleasure. Free and paid "neo retro" games with a lifespan of 4 hours is exceptional! You do a remarkable job.

The passport system is already more than enough, I go all out on the save states for the videos (saved me too much editing), but yes other difficulty modes are always welcome.

As for me, I am neither a collector or an Amiga owner, for the moment I have already made your game Dr Dangerous known to someone (one of my YouTube subscribers) who should buy the collector's version.

However, a middle ground could be possible via itch, by putting the extended rom on sale as some other developers already do. And good luck for the future, I will follow your projects closely.

Hey, I hope you don't mind, but I placed Tiny Pixel Adventure in the top 100 Amiga homebrew games of all time.

It's nice that three of my games made it into the top 100. Thanks for the video :)

always a pleasure 😀

Tested to load it on FPGA coaches, but often big problems at startup, black screens, or loads the layer without mentioning the number and then crashes. Or error Guru Meditation, Error: 8000 0003 Task: 00006E7A. Used A500 with kick starter 1.3 and 1 Mb ram

ok Maybe I found a working setup, although a few times, after several game over, the screen remains black, during loading and I have to restart.

Setting up:

CPU 68010,
Chipset video ECS ,
Chip RAM 1 MB ,
Fast Ram 2M
Kickstart 1.3
PAL video mode

If I put higher or lower resources even a little is not going, or better charge but then crash goes

Hmm normally the game should work with it. But I will upload a small update soon. I hope it works better then

I tested the ADF version on A600. After loading the first level I see the text "LEVEL" without the level number and below in the window no text appears and the game freezes. Is there an older version available somewhere to test?

I could only test the game on a real Amig 500 and 1200. Here the game ran without any problems. Unfortunately I don't have the possibility to test it on an Amiga 600. Here I could only fall back on an emulator and there I had no problems. Try to start Dr. Dangerous, if the game does not work either I can try to update both games with the latest Skorpion engine to see if there is a problem.

Hi,

I have the same behaviour described previously on my A1200. Dr. Dangerous works fine on my system.

Dr. Dangerous works very well on A600 the only problem is with this game. When the game freezes it appears Guru Meditation, Error: 8000 0003 Task: 00006E7A.

Amazing and lovely game. Very entertaining. Congrats!

Thanks. :)

Where are adf files? :(

? you can download it

Found, sorry!!

GREAT game!

Thanks :)

Congratulations on the final version. Excellent and cute platformer. I also added it to my new "Gameplay of New Amiga Games from January 2025" video, along with other recently released games. I hope you enjoy the video.

Thank you for showing the game in your video. A new game is already in the works. I'm currently still working on the quest system for the game. It will be a while before a playable version is ready. :)

(+1)

We took another look at the final version and it is still a great game, were it not for the missing checkpoints, which increase the frustration factor immeasurably when, for example, you have to start the level from the beginning again because you calculated the jump too narrowly. Nevertheless very good graphics and sound, so you shouldn't miss this game. Our German-language review can be found in our recorded livestream starting at 02:57:09. English subtitles are also available. 🙂

(+1)

Thanks for the video. I deliberately decided against checkpoints. I wanted the challenge here to be a bit like in Dr. Dangerous. There are no checkpoints in either game ;)

Hi,

I am getting squiggly lines, possibly a vsync issue with windows version (Which uses FSUAE) of course... not sure how i can fix that in the  Default.fs-uae file?

This problem doesn't exist with WinUAE..

Also with my XB1 Controller in Windows version it wont work unless i alwasy manually select joystick instead of cd32 pad and or changing these line like this below in the default config fixes it

joystick_port_0_mode = gamepad

joystick_port_1_mode = gamepad

So far I have only tested the game on WIn-UAE, a real Amiga and PS-Vita (via emulator) and there were no problems. Please have a look at the configuration

Your windows pre packed version comes packed with fsuae and has a normal default config.

What I'm saying is out of the box your windows download link is not displaying the gfx properly in windows...

And I'm not sure how fix the gfx by editing the uae. I tried to enable vsync in uae but it didn't change anything

Can you repack the game with winuae instead of fsuae in your windows dl link?

I download final release but I can't get password for level 24 and after first time I lose on level 23 and try again and Collect everything the key not show and can't go in exit door.

Things are also often well hidden. Just check again to see if you have found all the hiding places.

(1 edit)

Ok but I have try to many Times  , so this was so far I can play. no more gameplay on this game.

(1 edit)

I will take a look. Thanks for the info. :)

(1 edit)

So I took a look at it once. The only thing I found is a graphic bug in Level 23. The key comes when you have collected all the honey and then go back to the bear, he gives you a key. I have uploaded a fix for the graphics bug and made small visual changes in level 23. Normally level 23 should be playable

Yes, me too. I replayed the game from the start and until now I found 2 issues:
- Level 19 there aren't many coins to get a code for Level 20
- Level 24 no code is given

I wanted to wait until I finished it again to report any other issues.

I counted the coins on both levels and it is possible to collect more than 44. This should be enough to get the code. You also get coins for the enemies or blocks ;) ...Or does the game not display anything?

(1 edit)

I looked at the code for the level code display and I think it was just the error that if you have collected exactly 44 coins no code is displayed. I have changed the code so that no longer if>44 coins to if=>44 coins. So now you can have exactly 44 coins and it should be displayed there

Hotfix 2 online (thanks for report)

(+1)

Ok, I played until the end level 30 and no issues found anymore. So this is the Final 100%.

The new version works now with the level codes ?

(1 edit)

Yes, I have all the 30 level codes.

I'm not used to use joystick up to jump. Now i remember why i don't play platformers on Amiga ;-) I make mistake after mistake and this lovely game becomes unplayable for me. How do others play this game? I have a Suzo Arcade stick which has tight controls (micro switches).

If you have a two-button joystick, you can also jump with the second button if the joystick is suitable for this ;)

(1 edit)

I do have a Suzo "The Arcade" which has two buttons which works on MSX. I did press that button yesterday if i'm not mistaken and did not do anything. So i guess it needs something special? A mod or? Which two button joystick do you use on your Amiga?
Does master system controller work on amiga by any chance? Or Amiga cd32 controller?

Answer my own question: Found this thread and seems master-system controller does work. With mega-drive there's discussion about safety). And perhaps 2600 controller could also work.

Final Release is out now ...

Well, good !
I think I will replay the game from the start ;)

Best game tester. :)

(+1)

Tomorrow comes the final release. So stay tuned. :)

(+1)

I didn't see graphics this good or smooth on x86 until the Win32 era.

(+1)

very good

(1 edit)

Is level 29 under construction ? Let's start with only one hidden arrow... so I cannot go any way.

Thanks

It only a bug i fixed it now with RC_2

Thanks, ADF file is ok, You have to correct LHA file (cartridge.se file is bad)

I fixed it tomorrow. ;)

Level 29 don't enough coins to get a code,
Level 30 the ladder doesn't work after defeat the monstre:

Finshing the game bad text format on screen:

Anyway I enjoyed a lot playing this game. ;)

An excellent platformer with good music. I also included it in my new "Gameplay of New Amiga Games from December 2024" video along with other recently released Amiga games.

I have a problem with grabbing the last thing on Level 2. The character just wont jump far enough. I am testing the game on A1200 060. Maybe too fast?

Please send me a picture. Normally you can reach all items.

Unfortunately, I won't be able to release the game this year. It's ready, but the game still needs to be fully tested so that it can be made available relatively bug-free.

Happy New Year to everyone and have a nice celebration. :)

(+1)

New levels are in the works. I hope the game will be finished this year. So keep testing so I can fix all the bugs quickly. Update coming before Christmas.

(1 edit)

Level 19, still not enough coins to get a level code:

Level 20, 22, 23 wrong codes (don't work):

(1 edit)

You also get coins for the stones. In level 19 there are only 34 coins, you also have to hit the stones that are hidden with your arrows so that you have enough coins ;). The other bugs are fixed. I also made more coins in level 19.  update 7_1 is online

(2 edits)

Now the codes work, but:

- on level 18 there are few arrows, few stones to shoot, so not enough coins to get a code for level 19:

- Finishing Level 23 no code is displayed for Level 24;

- On Level 24 there are 2 ladders that don't work, but for the first ladder I can go up from the platforms above, but for the second ladder, where there is the last enemy to shoot and complete the collection for the key, it is no longer possible to return.
So the level is not completable.

Thanks for your attention.

Oh sorry. I was looking for the bug in level 19 instead of level 18, my mistake. I changed it and placed coins there. I also fixed the problem with the ladder in level 24. Update is coming tonight with two new levels and bugs will be fixed ;)

Good !

Love the game, just got to level 4 so far.  Both this and Dr Dangerous are great fun and very challenging.  Would you maybe consider doing a copper background so there is a little bit of a parallax effect, that would be the cherry on top.  Either way thanks for your great Amiga games!

Thank you for the kind words and, of course, for the criticism of the games. I know that many like parallax scrolling and much more. I am rather someone who tries to get as much fun out of a game as possible. I like playing my games myself and even my son plays my games. I've never been a fan of background scrolling. I know everyone has different preference. I'm sure there'll be a game with it soon, but first I'll finish the game and then I'll start planning the next project. So let me surprise you. So it won't be boring. I was actually planning to release a boxed version of the game, but unfortunately I haven't gotten around to it yet.

A wonderful game!

(1 edit)

I am currently working on a new version with some improvements. There are also 3 new levels that are currently being tested.

(2 edits)

Time to test v6 ;)
Bugs for the bottom write and not enough money on the level 19 to get a code for level 20:

Level 21 at the top (29) and the code (down) are wrong:

Thanks for the quick fix, time to test and Play :)

Version 5 online ;)

  • Level 17 added (new Level)
  • Problem with the ladder in level 15 fixed
  • Level 15 spikes over ladder removed
  • added invisible stone to the exit in level 15
  • Added a ladder to level 14 (now you can reach the platform at the exit)

Good, but on level 16 there aren't enough balloons to finish:

(1 edit)

I checked and there are 7, some are well hidden ;)

Ok, I will search them better ;)

I work on the next update if you like i can send you the game first for testing. Add me on instagram :)

I would be happy, but I don't use social media like Instagram anyway.

The soundtrack is outstanding!

Nice! Bug in 13:55

(1 edit)

Level 15 BUG 01, once you go down you cannot get on anymore from the ladder:

Level 15 BUG 02, when you get on from the ladder you die:

Level 15 BUG 03, you cannot reach the other side:

(+1)

Thanks for the report. I fix it today:)

(1 edit) (+1)

Today there will be another update including many bugfixes and 4 new levels

(+1)

Still bugs, not enough coins to get a level 7 code, and still random blocks on wrong position, these are frustrating because compromise the playability.
Thanks for the update:

(+1)

Thanks for the report.I will fix it with the next update

I also have to report the following bugs:
- after completed level 10 and go to level 11 I get the same level 10 code:

- and on Level 12 I get always a Level 10 code and bugged gfx (Level 19 instead of Level 12):

Awesome game!

(1 edit)

Very nice but difficult game with too few checkpoints. The soundtrack is amazing and the graphics are impressive. The controls also work very smoothly. We are very excited about the finished game. Our German-language review can be found in our recorded livestream starting at 02:23:33. English subtitles are also available. Subscription to our YouTube and Twitch channel is welcome. 🙂

(+1)

Thanks for the great video. :)

I am currently working on an update. :)

great game,thanks

(1 edit)

I'm glad you like the game. You are welcome. :)

Altough the bugs I still managed to finish the eighth level too:

Level will follow. So far I am working on more levels and fixing the bugs. :)

It's going to be a great platformer game. I also included it in my new "Gameplay of New Amiga Games from October 2024" video along with other Amiga games released in October.

Thanks for the video. :)

Great game. Unfortunately I'm a poor player, stuck at level 3.

:) Thank for the new video.

Version 2 online

Still bugs, there are not enough coins to get a level 7 code on level 6, even killing all enemies

Gfx bu on level 7, but sometimes some trasparent blocks appears on wrong position when shooted:

Wrong Code on Level 8:

Thanks for your attention.

Thanks for the info about the bugs. I will fix it as soon as possible and upload an update. :)
