For what it's worth, I also run into trouble trying to integrate rolled random encounters in Arden Vul (and I don't think encumbrance or light management has produced interested play once yet over 50+ sessions).

As a concrete example, https://ibb.co/d0ytYt4Y

my players were exploring east past the the statue of Thoth, Knower of Secrets and found the tomb of Larel One-Eye. Larel's tomb is (basically) ungaurded; there's not even a door. It has 3 major magic items in it:

- cloak of protection+2, reaction +25%, invis 3x/day

- dagger +3, +1 dex, casts slow on hit

- bag of holding (500lbs) combined with a cloak of many things

The book prices this at 84k gold worth of magic items, but I think it's severely underpricing the dagger at 10k.

To me, that the magic items are just **sitting here** means this part of the dungeon should probably be inaccessible to random encounters *for some reason* (otherwise, why haven't they been taken yet?). However the book has a d20 table that covers this section with results like evil halfling gate guards, rival npc adventurers, beastmen patrols, and set cult members. These are all *presumably* folks that would be very jazzed to find this room and these treasures!

This happens *constantly* (not just in this section of the dungeon, not just in this adventure module). It's hard to find a random encounter table that I actually trust to be able to roll on and be able to reasonably contextualize why these dudes are showing up
