Castlevania Order of Shadows Golden Belmont
Overview:
Castlevania Order of Shadows Golden Belmont aims to re-imagine the infamous Mobile Java game of the same name. [on the GameBoy Color instead, hence the Golden Belmont subtext GB]
Reworked from the ground up with a re-imagined story that aligns the timeline with Legends, Resurrection and the original Order script. [the original was a non-canon side story anyway so I put together a compelling story that can be put in the Legends timeline instead]
A small fan game for the fans of the lore but did not like the java game's controls and "physics" all that much. [Meant to be a short fun time]
Controls:
| Web | Console | Function |
| WASD, Arrow Keys | Directional Buttons | Player Movement |
| K, X, Spacebar | A Button | Jump |
| J, Z, | B Button | Attack [Primary Weapon] |
| L, C, Shift | Select Button | Potion Use [Desmond only] |
| I, V, Enter | Start Button | Pause Screen |
| Down + Jump | Down + A Button | Dash / Slide |
| Up + Attack | Up + B Button | Sub weapon Attack |
| Up Button | Up Button | Interact with Objects and NPCs |
Features:
- Playable Desmond Belmont with updated physics!
- Unlockable "Sister Mode" a sorta sequel to Desmond's story [a bit of last moment addition so please be patient with it]
- in-game Accessibility Chair [access options with an in game chair you sit on by pressing UP]
- 5 Boss fights plus 1 not so hidden Boss fight
- Revamped/Reimagined story that takes Legends, Resurrection, and Order of Shadows' original plot to account
- In game shop that updates after some time
- dedicated Music Player when played on the GameBoy DMG mode

Finished Desmond's route yesterday, and I'm totally impressed with this. I think the player's movement could be a little bit more polished but everything else is absolutely amazing. You took a game that didn't feel good to play and turned it into an completely enjoyable and fun game that could easily pass for an official release.
I'm sure Iida would have been super proud of You.
Really fantastic work!!
thanks you, appreciate that coming from a "vampire" dev xD
This is so cool, love some Castlevania! Well done!!
Ey!!! "Senpai noticed me"??? Thank you!!! Thanks for the engine man.
Hola Elvis. No sé si hablas Español, será que puedo traducir el juego?
hit me up on discord then elviesofficial xD

Great Game:
oh i saw this thanks for playing the game
I have noticed some small grammatical errors, and potential English word usage that seems "off". If I can help with localization, or just as a quick editor for you, I would gladly do so for no charge.
hit me up on discord then elviesofficial xD
hi. Are you planing a pocket version?
Thanks
oh yeah i forgot gb studio can export to the pocket, ill have a build soon, tho itll be just for the current builds
thanks! :)
Eyyyyy, this is getting a bit of news coverage from the looks. Rad stuff and congrats yo!
thanks!
Hiya! I've played a little bit of this, pretty impressive so far. I've never used GB Studio myself so I don't know how easy it is to do this, but I really like how "legit" it seems--if I didn't know anything about it and someone just handed me the game already running, I don't think I'd be able to tell this was homebrew.
I feel like the whip is too slow, though. Usually in CV games, if I press attack right after pressing jump, I can reliably hit things above me, but in this case I'm already back on the ground, which makes things flow less well IMO. I'm also not a huge fan of the camera immediately swiveling around when you turn, but that might just be me.
thank you! i actually timed the release to the lunar eclipse [blood moon] for more accuracy lol and good thing castlevania just got revived too.
the whip will get faster as you acquire its upgrade later on, but yeah i get what you mean by the slowness [its a thing im currently trying to fix on my part]
camera speed was actually slower in the demo builds, try that see if its more your alley and if more people comment about it ill put it back on the current build [maybe add it in the accessibility chair as an option]
Some skull attacks get stuck spinning in mid-air when they fall into a platform hole, especially if the fall is too great.
On the map where the armor is located, a block is missing from the shortcut, making it unusable. When you climb up, you appear in mid-air and then fall back down. This worked fine in previous versions (I've attached an image of the location).
ill try optimizing the crouch animations, thanks.
how is a block missing unusable exactly? you can access the lower area right away, if youre talking abt the player not be able to leave when you fall through, ill fix it in the next update
Hi, Overall very good, however I encountered a critical bug. After obtaining the relic for sliding, I saved and when I wanted to continue the game I could no longer double jump. I had the double jump relic but I couldn't double jump and without it I can't continue the story TT_TT. Although that was in the Castlevania OoS GB v0.1.1 playtest build, I haven't checked it in the newer versions but I trust it's fixed.
that bug is fixed in the newer builds, the older builds here are for the curious as to how the game evolved overtime
Found a couple bugs:
the candle collision is, i think, both gb and gb studio limit afaik so i cant do anything about it. the whip thing is intentional for speedrun purposes, if people wanna speedrun this game in the first place
Any chance of a Game Gear port? 😄
If someone wants to help with that Im down, but rn I dont know how to yet so no
If you made it with GB Studio, there are some flags for the GG in GBDK to help it compile for the other console. It will come up with errors that would need to be corrected.
do u mind sharing a vid tutorial?
