The Long Arc is an action-packed arcade game for the Playdate console where precision, strategy, and quick reflexes are your keys to survival. Using the Playdate’s crank as your bow, you’ll defend your tower against waves of relentless enemies while upgrading your arsenal and unlocking powerful spells.
Gameplay
Face 11 unique enemy types across 21 challenging levels. Use skillful aim and strategic upgrades to protect your tower from destruction.
• Crank-Driven Combat: Use the Playdate’s crank to pull back your bowstring, aim your shots, and release arrows with precision. Master its mechanics for perfectly timed shots
• Dynamic Enemies: Adapt to foes that fly, heal, run, shoot, and swarm
• Upgrade Your Arsenal: Earn points from kills and combos to unlock six unique arrow types, including exploding and lightning arrows.
• Powerful Spells: Purchase two game-changing spells—one to mend tower damage and another to unleash devastating damage to all nearby enemies.
• Tower Defense: Keep your tower standing against relentless attacks. Health refills between levels, but every wave tests your endurance.
• Strategic Progression: Balance points between unlocking new arrows, upgrading abilities, and purchasing life-saving spells.
• Challenging Levels: Each level introduces new enemies and mechanics, keeping gameplay fresh and engaging.
To install or update the game follow the steps below.
- Visit the Sideload page in your Playdate Account on play.date
- Drag or select the .pdx game file to upload it
- Go to Settings on your Playdate
- Go to Games
- Refresh the list (this may happen automatically) and find the game you uploaded

Seems I can only buy one upgrade at the end of each level regardless of points balance?
(So i get wiped out after level 4 or 5)
any advice?
Focus on head shots and keeping arrows flying. If you haven't noticed yet, when you release a shot before your cooldown has recovered, it'll shoot a standard arrow.
Beyond that, prioritizing which enemies to focus on is the next most important thing to do. On both level 4 and 5, the dire wolves and the archers are your biggest threats, so focus on taking them out as quickly as possible.
In terms of upgrades, "Crank to damage" and "Triple Arrow" are the early upgrades to buy, in my opinion. If you can afford the "Repulse Spell", it's the best way to take out the bats (but ultimately the bats are more of a distraction than a threat -- they do very little damage).
