A Little Update
GB Studio » Devlog
Hi everyone! It's been a while. Just wanted to let you know I'm still working away at the next version of GB Studio.
Here's a few things that have been implemented in the last few weeks:
- Work in progress support for Raspberry Pi (I've been using a Pi4), been lots of requests for this one! It's using prerelease builds of GBDK so I might have some minor fixes before this is ready to go.
- Override "Color Mode" per scene With the introduction of "Color Only" mode in GB Studio version 4.0.0 you could double the graphics memory at the cost of no longer being able to run your game on original (non-color) GB hardware. Now you can right click on any scene and choose to override the color mode. This allows making full color games that include a warning message when displayed on original GB or you could make games that support all hardware except for a few "Color Only" scenes (think the Color Dungeon in Link's Awakening DX)
- Disable Color Correction GB Studio by default modifies colors to closer resemble how they would look when running on GB Color hardware, this can cause the colors to look oversaturated in some emulators, now you'll be able to decide for yourself if you'd rather not have this feature in your project settings
There's plenty more coming too, you can always follow along with progress by checking out the development build changelog at https://github.com/chrismaltby/gb-studio/blob/develop/CHANGELOG.md#unreleased
Thanks again for all your support (especially to those who contribute on Patreon), it really helps keeping the development on GB Studio moving forwards!

Please tell me when there is support for the Raspberry Pi.
I've just released the 4.2.0 Beta today which you can find at https://github.com/chrismaltby/gb-studio/releases/tag/v4.2.0-beta1 (once it's fully ready for release I'll upload to Itch.io)
The Linux ARM64 versions there should be working on Raspberry Pi :-)
Thank you so SO much! Pi400 and 500 here and this is the one thing I have been missing from my actual desktop :)
Hey!
GB Studio is fantastic — truly amazing work!
I just wanted to suggest a few small additions that could make development even more flexible:
An RPG scene type, to better handle maps with interactions and RPG-style movement.
A function to make enemies jump in platformer scenes.
Gravity support for platformer levels, to give jumps a more natural feel.
A camera lerp option, to make camera movement smoother.
Thanks again for all the hard work you’re putting into GB Studio — keep it up!
Where is the update? Has something gone wrong? Let us know!!
Taking longer than expected sorry!!
All good, just I've found some things that I hope you fix, don't remember exactly what they are sadly. Im hoping to make a great game!
It would be awesome if you could add a system to copy like two or three items at a time, like a select events, copy selection, and paste selection, would be super convenient!
ooh I actually think you can do that right now (I think since 4.0.0), if you "Shift" + click on event titles they'll become selected, then if you copy/paste it will actually copy paste all events you've currently got selected :-)
Oh, really? thanks so much! I dont know if theres a direct mention to this but it would be nice for others if there was select in the list, and the shortcut, it would be awesome for others if they didnt know.
would be nice to add: midframe interrupts | autoscroll screen block | automatically have sprite flickering and adding tiles to window layer
Was wondering how pi support was going? Just got a pi400 myself and got box84/64/wine running but neither the exe or appimage would run. Thanks for considering a build for pi/arm devices!
Would the "Disable Color Correction" feature apply to scenes with automatic palettes?
This is an incredible and user-friendly tool, thank you so much for it!
Thank you for all your hard work on GB Studio!
