Part 3 of exploring the post-nuclear wasteland formerly known as the USA in Fallout, on OpenBSD via fallout1-ce... Today March 4, at 23:00 UTC (very soon):

Live stream of the classic cRPG Fallout on will start at 23:00 UTC at:

"Join me in revisiting the landmark cRPG Fallout from 1997 on OpenBSD via fallout1-ce. Besides showing how it plays on OpenBSD, I'm also planning to use the opportunity to wax philosophically about how this game's take on computer role-playing offers a way to engage with its world that is rather rare among games in general, even many modern so-called RPGs (that includes Fallout's own sequels)."

You can now enter a time capsule back to the year 1997 and from there into a post-nuclear retro-future on with fallout1-ce in ports. You need the assets from Fallout 1 to play though.

Thanks to @izder456 for the hard work and persistence!

I stumble through the beginning of Terraria and went down into the mines to bring you the gem that is gaming on OpenBSD in 2026! Replay here:

Straw poll for my game stream for today (22:00 UTC). Which game should I stream from OpenBSD? (spectra.video/w/bWdML9RsTHLwir)

Farming, ranching and frontier simulator "Cattle Country" runs great on with an update to FNA to 26.02 and a tiny library aptly named "SDL_BleepBloop".

Desktop streaming on using VAAPI is quite performant. I've recorded myself playing Northgard in 1440p, using fauxstream. The hardware encoding quality on this generation of Radeon GPUs (RX 6700 XT in my case) is known to be of poor quality, so there is noticeable loss of detail when panning over the map, but it seems to be quite smooth otherwise and audio/video stay in sync.

While audio quality is a little choppy (still working on optimizing the streaming setup), using closed captions works quite well to follow along.

Will stream more work on updating the ports on at 20:30 UTC (less than 1 hour from now!):

This will be part 2 after:

(Audio quality is still being worked on.)

public Brotato test stream with my current OpenBSD setup in 26 minutes (16:00 EST, 22:00 UTC).

It would be great to see our games run on OpenBSD, but - as of yet - there are no BSD users on our team. If anyone's interested in looking into that to make it happen, you're more than welcome to come aboard.

Happy #PointNClickFriday!

Let's have some banana and slip on a banana peel into the short kobold adventure Gurk in Trouble - A Yip Quest Story.

You must defeat your evil wizard Master who wants to make every banana in the world disappear forever.

@solene What's your game of the year 2025?.... In my case it was probably (again) Balatro which I played more than any other game. At least it runs on OpenBSD

It's been a long time since I've seen a new game based on , but here is a nice one:

bootdiskrevolution.itch.io/spe

... and it's free! On , you can use to launch it...
