I've been using folklore and myth in my tabletop campaigns for years. I loved to research them and learn how were tied to specific places, specific fears, specific histories. The ones that made the people who told them bolt their doors.
Folklore Reborn is what I'm doing with that research. A series of D&D 5e adventure modules, each built on a real legend from a real culture, adventures rooted in the geography and history where each legend was born, approached with genuine care and respect for the traditions they draw from.
Every adventure includes full cultural context alongside the mechanics. These are not generic or standard monsters with some edits, they are made from real stories, from real places, that still mean something to the people who grew up with them.
The old stories were warnings.
