Hamsteria! - Demo
A downloadable game for Windows and Linux
"Hamsteria" is a short (~1-2 hours) difficult two player co-op game where you're each a hamster in attached wheels. You can only spin your individual wheel forwards or backwards. There is no jump button, and there is no turn action. To escape, you must work together.
Supports Online Co-Op, Local Co-Op, and Single Player!
Both mouse and keyboard and gamepad support are available. We recommend using gamepads.
Single Player Controls:
(Mouse Keyboard)
WASD - Move, Mouse - Camera, Q/E - Brake, F - Respawn, CTRL - Shake (use when stuck)
(Gamepad)
Left Stick - Move, Right Stick - Camera, RB/LB - Brake, Y - Respawn, X - Shake (use when stuck)
Online Co-op Controls:

W - Forwards
S - Backwards
Space - Brake
F - Respawn
Ctrl - Shake (use when stuck)
C - Start Countdown

RT - Forwards
LT - Backwards

If you're playing online, make sure BOTH players are running the latest release of the game.
System Requirements
We recommend having a dedicated graphics card with at least 6GB VRAM. If you are having strange graphics issues, try updating your drivers, especially on AMD graphics cards.
Trouble Shooting Tips:
Q: My game graphics are very glitchy!
A: Try updating your graphics drivers, especially on AMD graphics card. This is a known issue for many godot games.
Q: I'm getting a "logged in failed!" error
A: This is usually a file permission issue. Epic Online Service needs basic storage access in order to create persistent login credentials.
Q: I can join, but the host can't start the game!
A: This is usually a firewall issue. Make sure that windows isn't blocking any network connections to the game. If you're still having problems, ensure your router isn't blocking the connections either.

Install instructions
Download and unzip the file. Then execute the "Hamsteria_Windows.exe" to start the game.
If on linux, instead run the "Hamsteria_Linux" binary.

The 2nd to last checkpoint is very problematic. While I'm aware of your video apologizing about it. I would like to give suggestions!
1. Please make the drop to the platform connected, or at the very least smaller in height. At least 70% of me and my friends death was from a bad drop onto the spiral.
2. The oval shape of the platform doesn't add anything to the challenge. It complicates the challenge to an extreme degree. Simplifying it to a circular shape would be much better.
3. Lastly there is no reason for the spiral to be individually disconnected parts with unnecessary drops. Making it one connected spiral would help keeping your player.
These changes are inspired to stop any player deaths caused from luck and not from player skill. Next time please playtest your levels before actually giving them out.
I truly hope for this game to suceed and I see the potential in this game. Please do well in your development journey.
I think these are fair criticisms. It’ll definitely be reworked for the steam demo release.

Great game, me and my duo had a lot of fun playing this! That last spiral remains unbeatable however, we're playing online coop from across the world so the delay is quite unforgiving HAHA

I don't expect to update the itch game (unless there is a big problem that must be addressed), but I'll be sure to add that option to the steam demo! That will be the same level as this release.
Hi, does this game have a virus? I always buy games from Steam or Microsoft, but never from other sites because I don't trust them.

Why do you claim "we recommend using gamepads" when your gamepad list is clearly only meant for official Xbox controllers?
There are hundreds of Windows-compatible controllers. Some of them use triangles and squares, not ABXY.
Good point! I say "gamepads" as any controller with analog triggers basically. I'm not sure what better term to use there. And you're right about the different inputs. Most controllers should still work in the game, but I just set the standard xbox buttons in the description to reduce clutter.
I tested this with a bunch of controllers. And, indeed, there is a grim sense in which the game "works with every controller" - it will always force a layout. I don't mind that, per se, except that I can't disable it. If I could, the game would be become controller-friendly on an even higher level.

Can you include an Itch release? Steam is basically pinned to the Xbox/PS plug-and-play model.

This level from itch will be free on steam as the demo. there will also be a much longer full game that will be paid, but it’ll be pretty cheap and include a free friend pass so you’ll only need to buy it once to play online

Get on it from the corner, you’ll bounce less. It’s easier to be slightly on the front side of the spiral than the back.
